In this video, we take a look at one of the most cinematic vintage lenses you can buy in 2023!
Canon FD lenses really are the best value for adapting vintage film camera lenses to modern mirrorless bodies in 2023. You can find ones like this Canon FD 50mm 1.4 SSC in many pawn and antique shops near you.
All test footage was shot on the Canon C70 in CanonLog2(CLOG2) and the Canon R5 in CanonLog3(CLOG3).

Beautiful video, I’ve got so many film lenses sitting around. need to try adapting some of them
i have a sony alpha 6500 with a couple of sony lenses a 5dmkii with an 85mm f 1.8 ef but i have a massive range of canon fd /fl lenses 24 35 28 50 100 135 200 70-210 100-300 300 and a 35-70 f 2.8 and the fd /fl are the most enjoyable they make me slow down and take care of what i shoot and give me a purpose for going out to "try out" my gear
made me excited to get my old yashica out.
Film Lenses are the best lenses🙏
Loved it. Very well explained.
Thank you Tony! Really appreciate it
Love it! Great video.
Thank you!
Very insightful, I’ll definitely look into this👍
Thanks! If you've got any questions feel free to give me a shout!
Can't agree more. I got my dream tripple vintage FDs (24, 35, 50mm) plus the adapters for my fuji x-h2s. Cine modded with standard industry front ring for the mattebox. Follow focus gear rings and we are ready to go 👍
That’s an awesome setup!
Are your FD’s the SSC versions?
@@ClipPlayTV yes. Even an aspherical one is in the game..... I will shoot a little gear video about the 'cine X one'....
@@fauland_photography that’s awesome!
I’d love to see it. If you’ve got a page for your work on instagram I’d love to give it a follow!
Banger
Glad you liked it!🙏
Make more videos bro, about vintage lenses
Canon FD lenses sound amazing... have you tried nikon AIS? There are a plethora of different types that can be had for $80-$500
I haven’t! But that’ll definitely be something worth checking out!
Its great - I think you will pay a bit more.. but to build a set you gonna need a 20 or an 18 and that will be costy, as will a 35.2 or wider and an 852 or wider. 28 2.8 are cheap and well worth having.
A valid point👍
I also have a 28 2.8 and love it.
You never know what you’ll find local though!
It's a great lens, but more like a 100$ lens.
Yeah, the used market tends to fluctuate a lot too. But you never know what you’ll find at a local pawn/antique shop!
It depends. I've seen it for sale for 50€, but the usual price here in Germany is about 70€.
@@vespabaviera6764I'm also German and payed 100€ for mine in very good condition a little more than a year ago.
Don't regret it one bit, love it and also got the 24mm 2.8 for 140€.
Now I'm looking to get the 85mm 1.8
