Thanks! Did you listen with headphones? Reason I'm asking is because the lower harmonies are not very audible without them. But yeah! This one does have quite an awesome bassline and the fuzz is awesome as well!
Sometimes I think Tom Peterson himself felt that same way - even though he was compelled to record using his 4-stringer, he almost always performed live using his 12-string (which he co-created with Hamer, and then Gretsch). He favored the fuller “pseudo-chorus effect” it created, and felt like he never got lost in the proverbial shuffle.
Honestly, yeah. I think I prefer the melody of a 12 string bass, but also the depth of a regular 4 string. I sorta notice the lack of bottom end when it comes to his recordings, would've been nice if he just ran through a separate recording of the 4 string with more low end to compliment the brightness of the 12 string
Wow. This has a weirdly appealing 8-bit quality to it. This could be a retro video game theme!
I’m learning this song, this is great to refer to.
Please retitle this, this is not Cheap Trick's 'isolated bass', this is a playalong
When people don't read descriptions...
Accurate and great sounding bass playing!!!!!!!! 👍
Thank you!
Thanks for posting Tom Peterson's 12 sting Hamer Bass, JW Tish. I always wanted to know what that kind of bass sounds like.
That's not a pic of Tom's Hamer 12. That's just a regular production instrument from the 90s in the pic.
I’ve always liked that fuzz effect, especially on don’t stop believin for example. Nice Video!

@@jwtish7825 Ah, I didn't. I'll go do that.
@@VirtualSimulations-Sirens1954B You'll notice the difference!
@@VirtualSimulations-Sirens1954B There's a distinct lower octave that is hard to hear without headphones
That's odd, there's no fast strumming at 2:51.

The magnetism of Robin Zander, the charisma of Rick Nielsen... How about the tunes?

I always thought the bass tone was always too soft for Cheap Trick. Not enought bite and punch. Not a fan at all of his weak sounding basses.

@@jwtish7825 I Think that's the answer!
I always though Tom's best sounding bass was his Chandler 12 string he used through the 90's
@@jwtish7825 Don't forget he got a big part of his sound from the combination of bass and guitar amps.Distortion through the Orange guitar amplifier.
