I thing most artists would lip sync in a performance like this one. Seems like he was actually singing which is impressive. That reason alone is a reason to be a fan of JD.

SMaze17 this performance was lip synced, it would be impossible to sing live with such an energetic dance performance , although I have heard him sing this song live and he sounds amazing. This show is dancing with the stars so they would of focused more on his dancing.
