Thanks Peter. Hard to believe I was so foolish not to pick up one of these when they were originally launched. The Class 800 review should be an interesting one. My review of the Avanti Pendolino which will be coming out shortly after will not be a pretty picture however....

I have one of these but the first and last pack with the original livery and gwr green. Both again in the gloss and they look spectacular

I was tempted by that pack but I've gone for the FGWR set instead. Good to hear they stuck with the more prototypical gloss finish.

Excellent review on an excellent model, I've got the Scotrail and Cross Country versions plus the Network Rail one.

Excellent review, I am lucky enough to own this exact HST set. It is one of my favourite locos in my collection and whenever I have a running session it is always running.

Excellent. A lovely HST set for sure, one of my personal favourites.

My favourite livery. The gloss finish makes it. Currently my favourite in my collection, bought new on Ebay for £240. I think I did ok there.

You did really good at £240. I paid £260 from a retailer a couple of months ago and was well pleased with that. Once they sell out, eBay can become very pricey.

I like the glossy finish personally, I also have these and they are a nice model

Same for me Paul. Pity we don't see such a finish on other models - where appopriate of course.

makes you wonder how they got the blue livery so wrong on their class 50s !!

One question. Why does Sam's Trains have 1000 times more subscribers, when it's absolutely terrible and extraordinarily biased, and this is actually good.
UA-cam, you make no sense. No sense at all.

Sam has been at this game for a lot longer than myself and I would say caters for a broader demographic of modelers. I've looked to up my game in terms of the standard of content so would hope that pays dividends in the longer term.

It is a fine model but the pricing baffles me....it is a diesel loco and effectively a shell/coach....200-225 would seem a fair price or am I tight?

Hi Chris, it sits in the full price loco range for sure given it's capability so it's more a question of full price loco + DVT I think in terms of pricing which probably puts you more in the 250-260 range RRP. HSTs seem to carry a premium at the moment and now Hornby have upped their price again to more than £300 which is excessive for a current model and all the more so since they've squeezed the likes of Hatton's who would have sold at a 10-20% discount. I'd only accept a premium for an high demand older model like this one but not for a new one on pre-order so I agree with you. I'm doing a video on Railway Model price inflation because there is an issue there and prices appear to have sky rocketed in the last few years in particular. More anon, Eugene

Prices are all heading North right now. And if new prices are steep, then second hand on Flea Bay has really rocketed in the last few years.

    Could review the azuma please?

    • @EuviRail
      @EuviRail  2 роки тому +1

I will be covering the Azuma alright when it becomes available. In the meantime I will be covering the existing GWR Class 800 which should give a good indication as to what to expect when the Azuma arrives.
