All the other shows: "They toured for 2 weeks in the Netherlands and disappeared." Winx Club on Tour: "they played on 71 countries, Buckingham Palace, Bikini Bottom, Space, and Chromatica"
You know, if Winx Club was as big in America as it was in Europe and if Monster High wasn't doing reboots, I could totally see them having Broadway musicals that are like "Spongebob" and "Mean Girls": a weird idea you never expected to be so good.
I know it's not a doll franchise, but because the Winx are included, you should consider watching some of the Sailor Moon musicals. Those are huge in Japan, probably the longest running media format the franchise ever had.
@@stellariaaa don’t forget the many Rose of Versailles Musicals! Although Rose of Versailles itself does have lots of merch (such as toys and games), it began life as a successful manga with a bunch of other adaptations (live action and animation included).
im so obsessed with the bratz concert omg. it reminds of how so many japanese media franchises (even if theyre not focused on music!) will have live concerts and stuff where the voice actors sing and do choreo and shit. media related live events my beloved 💖
This was very informative. I remember the occasional "Barbie on Ice" type of show growing up in the 90's but didn't realize they got so elaborate or were so varied and far reaching. Amusingly the video I watched prior to this was about a hard to find musical called ThunderCats Live!
As a doll fan and theatre kid, I loved this video! I was aware of the Winx live shows, as I went down that rabbit hole of UA-cam a few years ago, but I wasn't familiar with the others. It's crazy how star-studded some of these were with future Broadway leads, and even Carolina Kostner!
To clarify, Ik this IS A BARBIE VIDEO BUT IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW...Mlp eg actually already had a Live Show done for Latin American countries and yes...There is a full recording of the show on UA-cam just look up, MLP EG El Show en Vivo, ik this show is pretty rare but it does feature a few actors actors from the Monster High En Vivo show, such a the girl playing Frankie, also playing Twilight in the MLP EG Live show adaptation so I think the MLP EG show was under the same company as that Monster High En Show en Vivo tour!!!
To further extend the prot of this show... It's basically the story of MLP Eg but switch Sunset for Twilight where now Sunset would be the one receiving the Crown, they're songs from both MLP EG and from Rainbow rocks as a well as some songs from the shorts also leading up to it...The way the show starts though is as we transition over from the Pony world after celebrating a Bday Party, after this Twilight and Spike use the magic wands (which I guess were merchandise that could be bought before hand) in order to activate the portal without the book or the half moon method 🤷 And to finish of, The Shows plot seems to happen as a retelling Of Rainbow rocks or maybe...after Rainbow rocks as we do see a mention of Sunset turning into an Evil Zombie thing loll!!
So what im hearing is that i was born too late for the fairytopia musical, but too early/in the wrong country when the other Barbie musicals, monster high, and winx club musicals were made? 😩 bruh kid to tween me would’ve been *obsessed* and adult me is sad I couldn’t see any of them 😭 the chokehold Barbie had on me as a kid and monster high as a tween…winx club I didn’t dabble as much but I played their games on the nicktoons website religiously 😅
I remember when I was little I went to see Barbie show “Las aventuras de la princesa” here in Argentina and it was super magical for a 7 years old me. Thank you for bringing back those memories! Amazing video ! Loved it 💘 Btw: 6:56 Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina, so it’s the same place 🫶🏻
These live shows always sound so cool to me. I wish there was more footage of Live in Fairytopia available, it looks so gorgeous! I'm also sad the G3 Monster High show was cancelled. It looked cool and I feel bad for the actors. I forgot it was even a thing that happened because I didn't even know it got canceled and I never saw much about it outside if a few posts. Also, your video is great. I can't believe this is your only video here!
There was a MLP tea party live show in the early 2000s… for some reason I thought it was a musical. I got to see it live and little 4 year idk me was FREAKING out and was so excited
@@stellariaaa I have the dvd too. Found it when blockbuster was going out of business. If you have an email, I can try to upload it to a google drive and send it to you if ya want It was really fun and it was a musical (just double checked) Also amazing video I enjoyed watching it and currently planning on finding the Barbie costumes BECAUSE ITS A NEED IN MY LIFE (I’m making an Island Prince Ro dress rn)
Also, American girl were the earliest doll musicals known to date. With the American Girls Revue in Chicago. They also had an "American Girl Live" tour last year that was quite successful
This was such a great video essay, I knew about the fairytopia musical and the g3 monster high shows and I heard something about a princess charm school show, but as a huge theatre kid and a doll fan I’m disappointed in myself for not knowing a lot more tbh 😭
Ngl I would be terrified (I’m imagining a doll version of the characters on stage and usually those weren’t necessarily the cutest they mainly had to portray the features of the doll clearly to the audience) Edit: I just came to the part where they talked about the mlp musical and the dolls are creepy (not as bad aas I expected but it still creeps me out)
I just read another comment that there was a MLP Tea Party Live show in the early 2000’s (I’m not sure exactly what era G3 was but I’m pretty sure it was then) The other commenter also confused it for a musical
Great work on this video!! I remember seeing the Barbie Fairytopia musical advertised online when I was a kid and it's always kind of lived in the back of my mind ever since, so seeing this video was perfect! 👏🏻❤️
For more live shows based on doll franchises, the Raggedy Ann musical immediately comes to mind (there's even a whole documentary on it). Though since it's from back in the 80s and Raggedy Ann's not really a fashion doll, I can see why it wasn't initially covered here
this is one of my most obscure interests so you have no idea how much i jumped for joy when i saw this!!! this is amazing and your editing is so cute, im looking forward to your future uploads!
There's actually also an LOL Live show that premiered in like 2021 or 22- started in Europe, moved to the US and sometimes still pops up in Europe. It was the same production company and director as the G3 Monster High show. I really only know about it because I happen to know someone who worked on it- the closest it came to me was 3 states away so I never saw any advertisement that I didn't look for myself.
I remember a piece of fairytopia merchandise. These rainbow magic wings with buttons to play 3-4 prerecorded songs. As a kid, I was very confused. I thoigjt the wings were based on Magic of the Rainbow but I didn’t recognize any of the songs from the movie or anywhere else (except for Girls Just Wanna Have Fun….which was on there for some reason lmaooo). Looking back, they were probably merchandise for the musical and that’s where the songs were from!! So odd I had crazy expensive toy merch from the show but never learned of it until I got older

I was a Winx fan in the 2000s and I seriously don't remember ever seeing any commercials or anything promoting the Winx Club musical back then (I'm from México). This is entirely new knowledge for me lmao
Great video! Just want to clarify something about the Winx Club On Tour show (because I grew up watching the dvd) is that the Dutch version of the show does seem to have a different plot than the Italian version! Even though they share (some of?) the same songs. From what I can tell the Winx Club Power Show seems to also revolve around a young girl discovering Magix, but the Dutch version focuses on the Winx battling the Trix. It's very interesting 🤔
Barbie was really interesting mid 00s-10s, just when I was either “way too old for dolls” or “an adult that shouldn’t buy dolls.” I regret not buying some of the amazing dolls made during this period. Barbie is definitely in need of a renaissance.
i watched barbie live as a kid!! i wanted to see it so bad and my mom surprised me with tickets. i still have the notebook merch we got from the show, it was a pretty simple spiral notebook with a big barbie live logo on the cover. i can’t remember if we got it for free or my mom had gotten it for me. but i can’t for the life of me remember anything that happened in the story though 😅
