I don't know why so many find this film confusing. It's pretty simple Dylan finds out the person she loves (Emily) is in a open marriage and that she's probably one of many women Emily is seen on the side. Emily is sadly playing a persona to whatever person she's with at the time needs. So Dylan needs a caring, loving partner who spoils her. Once Dylan finds out who Emily really is, Emily has no use for Dylan anymore as Dylan finds out who she really is. Plus Dylan stepped into Emily's real love (her family) and that's a big No No. The woman who Emily is arguing with that Dylan saw is more then likely another woman Emily is seen who did the same thing Dylan did and followed her around as she doesn't trust Emily (rightly so we find out). The filmmaker clearly films it in a way that we're seen it from Dylan's point of view, that with her illness and the medicine she's taken that it might be all in her mind like a fever dream.
Thank you so much for this explanation, Steve because I was one who was genuinely confused as to what happened and why. Your explanation helps so much.
When you film it as a pov and the audience is only as smart as Dylan ofc you’ll be confused. Tbh if you leave most of your audience confused and that wasn’t your intension you kinda failed at telling the story. But that’s just my opinion 😁
I am so confused. Is this about multiple sclerosis? Is this about abuse of people with illneses? Is this about feeling like you can't be loved if you are dealing with chronic illness? Is this about living in daydreaming world? Amazing movie and it threw me for a loop.
Why am I so mad now??? I can’t with the “Did you really think you’re the only one” and “You have to go now but I’ll call you” I wanted to just scream in their faces
Omg same! I was like "Just spit in her face or do something". Later on when she said that with her inner child and stuff I could understand her better, but I was still mad
She probably said those same lines to that woman Dylan saw Emily with in the yard earlier on that she did with Dylan at her home. I liked how the scene was played. She's someone who's in a open marriage and they probably tell each other who they are sleeping with cause this wasn't probably the first time one of Emily's or his conquests came knocking at the door. Emily clearly will play a role to fit with the person she's with at the time, so with Dylan she needs to play the caring, loving girlfriend who will spoil and worry about Dylan. We can see little moments in the film how great Emily is at moving the goal posts anytime she's trapped in a corner. I like how the scene is played Dylan is confused and shocked, her mind is all over the place. Once Dylan stepped onto Emily's real focus and main love (her family), for Emily her facade came down and Dylan was no good to her anymore, for Emily and her mindset Dylan took the fun out of it and saw what Emily really was. And for Emily, she wants that open marriage to go off and be someone else. I think that's why it annoys so many. As Emily is shown to be so caring and loving up to that point to Dylan. She's the perfect girlfriend. And she's then in that scene shown to be cold hearted, cause for Emily in her mind Dylan broke the fun and saw what Emily was.
This is just my opinion. 1. Emily and her husband are probably in a open marriage. One of the important things in a open relationship is you are straight up open and honest about who both of you are seen. So her husband clearly knows who Dylan is. So he isn't shocked when he sees her and calls Emily. From the sounds of things from her husband that Emily might have a few women on the side.. Or it might be the husband puts up with her cheating cause of their kids. But I think it's a open marriage, as he doesn't seem that overly upset or shocked about it. 2. so the woman that Dylan saw in the yard was probably one of the women Emily is seen and a bit like Dylan. She probably followed Emily there and caught her in the act. The film plays it like it might be all in Dylan's mind, with her suffering Multiple Scierosis and thinking Emily doesn't want to be with her cause of that. But the moment Dylan says she like to go to Emily's place seen as she's never been, you could tell where it was going lol.
I've been waiting for what feels like forever for this short film, especially after The Haunting of Bly Manor and with the incredible Victoria Pedretti. I thought I'd love everything about it, but honestly, my favorite part turned out to be Wagner Moura! I absolutely adore him from Shining Girls and Narcos. That said, after such a long wait, I was hoping for more. I love Vic, but honestly, the story fell short and incomplete.
I already watched this via an online film fest and it was sooooo good I can't wait to watch it again and hopefully it gets a lot of love so we can get more of it!
This film was so great it had so many amazing actors like Victoria Pedretti and Catlin Stacey. It made me so paranoid about any relationship I have in the future because to look someone you love in the face who is also struggling with MS and say that nothings going on is actually wild to me and to know this was a true story. Thank you to all the production staff for making such an incredible film I truly could not imagine being in a situation where I was in the hospital and my partner was actively married with children. To my writers and whoever lived through this experience I bow to you because this is intense. ❤
10 seconds in and I suspect Caitlin Stacey is bad. It’s a vibe she gives off. Victoria is fantastic. Yup, correct. Figured she was either lying to her or a figment of her imagination.
I was thrown for a loop with the plot. Then another when reviewing the cast. Their previous film credits. The movies to their credit. The people behind this short film. The style in which it was filmed. The editing. Music. Queer. Make it a full length feature and it would surpass any movie that is currently in theaters.
This is a Masterpiece!!!! Such a simple plot yet captivating throughout the end and Pls make a movie with victoria she portrayed that character so well and i don't think anyone could replace what she did there❤(pls dont like this comment I don't want anyone thinking i wrote this for the likes)
Shes in the hospital rehabbing due to a bad ms flare. But starts having suspicions about her girlfriend. Sometimes with ms you question what's truly real. Turns out she was right. Super dramatic. Super stressful and unhealthy for someone with ms trying to recover.
Can we please let Victoria have a wlw happy ending for once?! 😁
agreed!!!

This is just my opinion.

this is sad where Emily should have supported her but instead betrayed her with lies.
The film is amazing , extremely underrated , and not to foget the last scene between dylan and the doc is mostalgic somehow . Amazing work.
