  • Over the course of the Vietnam war the U.S. dropped more explosives than were deployed during the entire Second World War. Of those explosives, about 10 percent failed to detonate. Much of the explosive devices remain buried in Vietnam's countryside.CCTV's Tony Cheng traveled to the central region of Vietnam where people are trying to defuse these deadly leftovers of a war that happened decades ago.

    No mention of the Russian and Chinese munitions....

      Because the number of munition deployed by the VC and NVA were only small fraction of what US deployed, and it's mostly artillery and mortar shell. Also, the way NVA use their munition is also different from how US use the munition. Since they don't have the resources available to US, they tend to use their weapons sparingly and at specific target. US forces, with their vast resources, and due to the guerilla nature of VC and NVA, often saturate a huge area with large number of bombs and shells. So unlike US unexplode ordnance, Vietnamese unexploded ordnance usually concentrated in the area in and around the battlefield. So they are easier to find. Not to say it doesn't exist. VC often relied on boobytrap, mines and IED. This may remain hidden to this day, until someone step on it. There's also unexplode hand grenade from both sides.

      Don't forget the French munitions. Also, the Vietnamese would go and find unexplored mentions and repurpose it, then sent or give it back to US forces. I've heard there were VC and NVA personal trained to catch and throw grenades back. Weather that's true or not.

      And Germany has compensated "a ton" to Jews. Certainly a great deal more than US has given to Vietnam: "The Reparations Agreement between Israel and the Federal Republic of Germany (German: Luxemburger Abkommen "Luxembourg Agreement" or Wiedergutmachungsabkommen "Wiedergutmachung Agreement",[1] Hebrew: הסכם השילומים Heskem HaShillumim "Reparations Agreement") was signed on September 10, 1952,[2] and entered in force on March 27, 1953.[3] According to the Agreement, West Germany was to pay Israel for the costs of "resettling so great a number of uprooted and destitute Jewish refugees" after the war, and to compensate individual Jews, via the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, for losses in Jewish livelihood and property resulting from Nazi persecution.[4]"

    • @dondajulah4168
      @dondajulah4168 6 років тому +1

      How many Americans were killed by Vietnamese in the US Civil War? The point is that the only reason the war killed as many as it did was because we supported the South Vietnamese government. No one disputes that Ho Chi Minh would have won the national elections in Vietnam had they been held as agreed to in the Geneva Accords.

The raw materials for them, the metals and explosives, could have been put to far better use.
