Just think for a moment, the US spends $1.2 - $1.4T annually on the military, China spends maybe ¼ as much on the military and $1T on infrastructure, how hard should it be to figure out which economy is more durable?

@@ryuseioh3507 I think it was Eisenhower that compared military spending to infrastructure, how much of America could have been cleaned up and rebuilt with an aircraft carrier or the trillions spent annually on the military, especially when you consider that the US has 3000 mile moats on two shores, a 3000 mile buffer on the north border called Canada and only Mexico on the southern border, there is no military threat. Money could also be spent rebuilding the countries in the south so there need not be migrants, they could live in their own country and not even want to move to the US.
If all that military spending was put to productive use, China would no longer be a threat, the problem comes down to 'If the only tool you have is a hammer(the military), every problem looks like a nail(need for a war)!'

It might not help -- there are lots of psyops/awful sources in Chinese too. For example, the falun gong cult runs a lot of youtube channels, and their ultimate goal is to eradicate race mixing and install their cult leader as the supreme ruler of China (they won't tell you this on their channels though). If you went onto actual Chinese websites though, like bilibili, it would be a different story, but those websites tend to work pretty badly in the West. The best way to understand China is to go there for yourself.

I remember reading the post of some septuagenarian who said that he's old enough to remember the same language was being used against the Japanese during their economic boom in the 80s. Namely things like, "The Japanese are taking our jobs," and other stuff like, "The Japanese are a threat to our security." Then all things suddenly went downhill for the Japanese economy (not a coincidence of course).
Sounds similar? Because the same terminology is nowadays used against another East Asian country which America itself helped to build up then put the blame on for rising as a global superpower.
Americans think their jobs were stolen, when the reality is it's not China that came to their doorsteps and started suddenly taking their jobs, it's American jobs that were shipped overseas to China by American companies.
America sees any other country that rises as an economic powerhouse and a political superpower as a threat to it's hegemony, it's never been about national security and all that bull-crap.

Fear is the only reason the U.S. wanted to contain China. When tariffs failed, technology sanctions followed. When both tariffs and sanctions failed, de-coupling became the buzzword. And when de-coupling was found to hurt the U.S. economy more than China's, it was changed to de-risking which in effect means a "slow de-coupling" until a more appropriate time. And now, fear has invaded European minds and the Europeans want to adopt the American low-life tactics.
Twenty years ago, American muscle cars and reliable Japanese cars plus reputable German, French and Swedish cars and even newbies from South Korea were selling like hot cakes in the Chinese market and each and every maker made a fortune in China. Nowadays, however, the U.S. has no hope of selling anything to China -- not only industrial products but also agricultural produce which are easily replaced by many other countries around the globe. Sooner or later, the world will be divided into 2 camps: one that embraces worldwide integration and the other a closed economy that fears competition. The acceleration of the de-dollarization movement will speed up the divide even further, to the point that it may break the world monetary system in half.
Perhaps the "coming collapse of China" can somehow soothe the overwhelming anxiety of the West?

I call it the "Tanya Harding" when you can't compete, then resort to dirty tactics (knee-cap your competitor).
I think a very appropriate story for the US v China is "The Tortoise and the Hare". The U.S. being the Hare. Who felt so confident and arrogant that it felt it had time to go off track and do other things (costly wars) ignoring the competition. The Tortoise on the other hand put its nose to the grind of the race and dedicated itself to the goal of the finish line (developing China into a modern advanced economic powerhouse).
By the time the Hare realized what was going on it was too late. Welcome to 2024.
PS: agree 100% on your comment.
I would add that with BRICS there'll be many formerly western states who were vassals of the U.S. will be swinging towards BRICS. Especially Eastern Europe as they will want Russian energy and China's BRI /SCO for their economic stability and development. I also think after new leaders Germany and France will also want re-establish cooperative economic relations with both Russia and China for the same reasons as Eastern Europe. I would bet even Canada will want to be forgiven and accepted in.

The US used to have one powerful enemy, the USSR, for which it preoccupied itself with an arms race and other containment strategies against it. It was known as the Cold War. But alas, it was so lucky, the USSR collapsed by itself. So, the US had free rein globally for some years with no challenge. It helped poor nations, particularly China, to join the WTO. It looked down on the Chinese as backward people who would need centuries to catch up. China opened itself up for foreign investments, and that's when it progressed very rapidly. Even during Obama's time, I remember hearing him say that China's development at that time was about the same as the US's in the early 20th century. So, no worries, it will never catch up. But he was wrong. Now China is so far ahead of the US in almost every field that it is too late for the US to slow it down, let alone to compete. So, some Americans, in frustration and panic, started to fantasize about a similar collapse experienced by the USSR. That is mainly because the USSR was a communist country. They ignore the fact that China has a very powerful hybrid economy which has never been known in the world. It is so powerful that it eclipses the Western capitalist system. The US government has never had experience in handling situations like this before. So, starting with Obama, they devised all kinds of containment strategies with no success, but some backfired badly. On top of that, China's relationship with Russia, together with BRICS, has become a real threat to the US's future.

Similarly, the US is likely to collapse on its own instead of in a war against Russia, China, and the growing BRICS+ alliance. But the US knows it's mathematically certain to economically collapse soon so it's trying its hardest to start WW3 as fast as possible in some scheme to save itself economically via the military conquest & imperialism model of forcibly extracting all the wealth of others via its conquests.

    • @davidrichards1741

China is not a communist country anymore except in name. It's actually a more democratic country than most of the so-called democratic west because the government tries to respond ot the needs of its constituents instead of abuse them in favour of corporate cronies & oligarchs as in the US today. It wasn't always this way in the US but we have lost our way, badly.
Also the EU is less democratic than china as the EU's power brokers are all appointed and the Eurocrates aren't accountable to anyone. China's leaders are selected by representatives put there by local people, not unlike a parliamentary democracy, except in China it's a uniparty system as in several other "democratic" nations including Singapore where I now live. The following article is written by Ismail Bashmori, he is an Egyptian China watcher.
The truth is that China is the greatest country on the face of the earth. It makes all other countries look insignificant and contemptible. It is the most brilliant, most industrious, most ambitious, most educated, meritocratic and technocratic, most modern, sophisticated, and civilised, and best-governed by far.
It is the first non-white, non-Western country to reach this status since the 1600s. The determination of this country is indescribable. Supernatural. There is no force that can stop it from accomplishing anything it wants to do. 。
It doesn’t matter who we are. Egyptians, Syrians, Pakistanis, Indians, Africans, even Americans. Next to the Chinese, we are pathetic. We can’t do what they do. We would have a mountain, an Everest of changes to make, and we would whine and bicker and fail at every one of them. China’s story since the 1980s has been one of an almost divine metamorphosis. 。
Next to China the entire Western world from Alaska to New Zealand has stagnated. Next to China the entire developing world from Brazil to Madagascar has progressed only at a crawl.
China is the mother of all gargantuan bullet trains. Every day it manages to create something new and astonishing. And unlike the United States, unlike the British Empire, unlike the French, Dutch, Germans, Spanish, Portuguese or any other Western nation that had its turn at being a superpower in the past four centuries, China doesn’t need to run anybody over or take something from somebody else, to rise majestically.
China is also standing up to the West all by herself. The West can’t believe their four-hundred-year-old global supremacy is being challenged. They hoped that the more China developed, the more it would submit to their influence, interests, and leadership. That didn’t happen. So now they will do anything possible, short of a nuclear war, to make China end.
Their goal is to destroy this country. That’s why, although the United States has killed several million people and turned several regions of the earth into hellscapes.
China is the worst fear of our planet’s Western masters. They want you to despise and dread a country that’s done nothing to you, that hasn’t invaded anyone, bombed or sanctioned anyone, that hasn’t overthrown any foreign government, or used its military on anything since 1979.
China is the only major country in the nonwhite developing world, to stand up to the West. To look it in the eye when challenged or threatened.
The Global South are simply Western puppets who submitted long ago. Even the most powerful ones. Saudi Arabia, Brazil, India.
Above only part of the article, you can read the full article under the following link.

You emphasis how great you are, without weakness, and how bad your opponents are, without any merit. The results is that you do not see your own weakness. It was not low cost labor that allowed China to accelerate to become what it is now. Failed attempts to move manufacturing to India (where costs are even lower) proved that.
What China has over other nations of robust population density:
    1. Robust education system. Which has created a robust educated body of civilians. (A massive educated work force on all levels.)
    2.Robust Infrastructure development.
    3. Decent social safety net.
    4. Competence in Ability to ensure social safety (without carpet bombing other countries and creating a debt&inflation as a result of constant wars.)
    5. Incentives form the top down to create jobs and distribute wealth.
*something we don't usually see here in the U.S. (and as far as I can tell, in Europe as well.) Where, Money is generated and gets stuck at the top, right out of the mint press.*
Second, labor in China are not low cost. It only seems low for western nations. Where inflation, creates indefinite surges in cost.
Because china's inflation is low and cost of living is lower than that of nations with never ending inflation. Living wages does not need to play catch up to the politics of inflationary economics.

Min 4:17, the Chinese work ethic is a critical advantage highly neglected in almost all opinions on China, even from pro-China media. I guess western media takes for granted that mediocrity is OK, but I think the western work ethic has already fallen below mediocre. I've lived in the USA for more than 2 decades, in different regions and I can say as a fact that the American work habits are awful. There's no reason to expect much more from elsewhere.
There's no space here to elaborate my point, but a bigger problem is that Americans stopped admitting this problem maybe about 2 decades ago. And not only they stopped admitting this problem but it may be banned altogether from being discussed as it it will offend some people, this is from the society that brags about freedom and democracy to the point of using as an excuse to invade (=mass murder and looting) others nations, from which Iraq is only one into many.
Whenever Americans do admit laziness they direct it only to the youth. It's not just laziness but flat out corruption and literal filth. Again, I'm not talking about the government, I'm talking about regular American people, of all sorts. Just to start check videos on how awful the new American houses are being built and you'll be appalled. One case in particular is D.R. Horton's houses, Mary Betsy has exposed them at large here in UA-cam, her video is titled New home NIGHTMARES with America's biggest builder D.R. Horton

In my opinion, they are truely big stories as the chinese government made a prudent decision to let market correction themselves and took care of public money to the public projects, not to support those lousy wallstreet-styled investors. This is truely a good news. The recent stock routing is because they learnt that their money gone for ever, not a penny from public coffin.
