- The North Face SUMMIT VECTIV Review - First Impressions (Carbon Plated) - welcome back to another video and today I am sharing with you my first impressions review of the north face summit vectiv pro trail racing shoe! I managed to take this out on a nice 75 minute steady run on some wet trails to give it a good initial test and the results were fantastic, I cant wait to log more mile in this trail racing shoe over the coming months!
Have you tried the north face summit vectiv trail racing shoe? what are your thoughts?

Sizing - I didn’t go into detail in the video as promised so a quick note… my recommendation is half size up… although it doesn’t cause me any issues being true to size there isn’t much room at the end so by going half size up you’d get at least a half thumb width 👍 also - toe box is very roomy… wide and tall!
I guess it depends how much they give with time since on the more technical trails we don't want them to get too loose!
I’ll give them some good use over the coming months and we shall see!
If you run on more mountainous trails I would really recommend that half thumb of room to prevent toe bumping on the downhills.
Looks like they're comparable to my Endorphin Edge. Love those shoes too and would love to see a battle against them.
Great review as usual. Congrats on passing 20k subs 🎉
Thanks so much
Great to hear your first impressions Andy. I know this shoe has had really decent reviews from the people that have tried it. I must admit it does look pretty wicked. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions with us mate! 😎🤘
Cheers buddy! Yeah it’s a good one, gonna get a lot more miles!
The shoes look perfect for the type of trails you run. If I were in contention for wins/placement in trail races I'd consider it. The issue is, most trail racing isn't really about running a fast time, or trying to set a PR, so I'm not sure how many trail runners can justify the price point if they're not looking to win or be in contention. But I'm sure it'd be fun to run in! Great review, Andy. Thanks for sharing and like I said, I think it looks perfect for the type of trails you train on.
Yeah that’s a very good point mate!
Hi everyone. Interesting information about the north face 2023. Like to Andy. Have a great day. 🌞🏃🌞
I had the previous version and didn't think it was anything special. This one feels much better, for easy trails it's great.
I don't mind the first version just fit a little big and doesn't feel great when you first put it on but once I start running its like its not there. Felt fast and legs felt good when I get back and the next day. I got them on sale for $50 a few months back great shoe for the sale price for $200, I would have probably returned it. Stack height is higher in new version, total revamp on the upper, Im sure their is more but those are the obvious ones. Northface is definitely back in the trail shoe competition!
Ive had this shoe since January and have done about 200 miles in it so far. It's really comfortable and good. I personally did not upsize and it fits great for me. Unfortunately, I don't think its very durable, the outsole near the front carbon wings was shredding after just a a few runs on technical/rocky terrain. Maybe that doesn't matter but it is worrying for a shoe of this cost.
Ah really? That’s really valuable feedback for people watching on the durability, thanks for sharing 💪
I found the enduris 2 good solid shoe ,although should have sized up as bruised my toes. (Not the shoes fault ) now considering these for a 25K road trail race which has a lot of road an flat forest tracks, Was looking at the enduris 3 but now tempted by the pro. Have you carried on using this since the initial review?
I looked into these as a race day trail shoe (previous model) and found a few reviews that gave me concern on the build quality, as a few people had them fall apart literally so opted for the Hoka Tecton x,
Andy after your perspective on a carbon plated 👟 for a 24hr track race, what would be on your list?
I ask as the other half would kill me if I had 5+ pairs of expensive shoes turn up and I could take the kids somewhere nice 👍
Ah that’s interesting! Well I’ve only got 2 runs in them so far so can’t comment on longevity yet but they’ll get plenty more use over the next few months!
In terms of a track race, I wouldn’t look past the alphafly… just because comfort is through the roof and it’s about cruising, not speed, so that would be my personal choice
Really interesting. I have the Summit Sky's and they are almost unwearable for me due to a rigid cord like material that runs around the collar. It digs into my ankle bone on downhills and hasn't improved no matter that I added some insoles and re-laced without the uppermost eyelet. Does this show have that stiff cordlike collar? I loved the Vectiv Flights, but at the price point on this one I want to be sure.
Ah ok that’s interesting to hear! I don’t suffer with anything like that in these shoes, the upper is very light and definitely no rubbing for me! Obviously it’s all individual but I can report that it’s all good for my feet 👍
Looks awesome, but for €250 it would wanna be!! The outsole on the Vectiv series is absolutely fab, possibly the best non-slip rubber??
Yeah really good, second run last night and great traction on a combo of trails:road….
The new Hoka Tecton x 2 will be out soon, so will be good to see how that compares?
I’m keen to try that new one 💪
Out of interest mate, how many times a week would you say you run in carbon on average? I’m trying to reduce my usage right now; love using the streakfly as it seems to get me working. But now I might have tipped the other way… I only wear carbon when racing or doing a race specific session (every two weeks or so).
Yeah so I usually try just once a week, no more… the last 2/3 weeks it’s been twice a week but I usually start wearing race day shoes in the final 2/3 weeks of a big race to get used to them so it’ll be twice a week at the moment…
Once training is done it’ll go back to none/once 💪
@@TheFODRunner makes sense. Nice one 🫡
Another review said the wing area presses into your foot after a while, did you notice anything uncomfortable?
I did my second run last night, 90 mins so longer than the first and no I didn’t find that, fantastic from start to finish! I obviously haven’t taken it longer yet…. So can’t vouch for anything over that time
A lot of people are complaining about this, for me it started around 5 miles. Have ended up with blisters at every run
Really? That’s not good at all!
@@TheFODRunner Yeah I have the same issues really as this guy ua-cam.com/video/1X2s5S9J7os/v-deo.html
Have had three runs in it now and its just not a shoe I can use. About 80% of reviews Ive seen have this issue. Really baffling decision to have the «wings» move up the side like that
They will not be on my wish list, but........the vectiv enduris 1 still is one of my top 3 trail shoes. It will take a few years, to run through all my trail shoes, and with more and more running with road shoes on easy trails and avoiding technical trails completely, unfortunately the enduris 3 will also not be on my wish list, although it looks real tempting
That’s fair enough! I have to say I’ve been really really impressed by this one, did 90 minutes steady in it last night and it was a dream… a real cruiser!
@@TheFODRunner the vectiv line lokks really promising with North Face producing good shoes for the first time in my memory
it certainly looks the part.
They really are!
Stupid price 🤯
