A massive, massive thank you to Luke for appearing on the channel! (And to Kappy for letting us shoot this in his office.) (And to Patrick for shooting it!) I know I'm a liiittle bit of a smaller platform than, say, Rogan, but I tried to ask questions all about music that I hadn't heard on that appearance. And I tried to timestamp the convo so it's easy to follow!
I was really hoping you would start smoking weed and talking about UFC and aliens.
The timestamping is so freaking helpful thank you for that
You should have morgan on the show, you already have the second biggest country artist come on your show... Why not go for the biggest.
@@tester5488 He already has!
@@mc39S686not as the biggest country artist, that was three years ago.
Man, you’ve come so far Grady. We’re so damn proud of you
Couldn’t have said it better, this is unreal. Grady is my McAfee for alternative mainstream media country
He’s always been great.
I can't believe Luke Combs watches my videos 😂😂😂
That’s so cool
Nice to see you also watch Grady Smith. I was suprised I watch same mowing videos with Grady Smith and Luke Combs :D
Litterally LOL
You make some fire content, just like Luke Combs!
Country boy will survive 😂
This should be used as a teaching example for journalism. Grady was well informed, familiar with what the artist had already talked about on podcasts, and had refreshing topics to discuss. Felt smooth and unrushed while keeping things moving.
Omg this is awesome. I've been a fan of the channel for a long time & it's so sick to see you going from making opinion videos on country music to sitting there with one of the biggest and best stars in country music right now! Can't wait to see your trajectory from here. Keep it up my dude!
I appreciate that!
This interview was everything I’d wished Rogan episode was. Really awesome deep dive into the music side of Luke.
Grady, you got so much richness and authenticity out of Luke in this interview. Felt like I was just watching two buds talking about life and interest!
I have so much respect for @LukeCombs . He’s a solid dude and real down to earth. His Perspective on artist/life balance is spot on! “Things happen for a reason…and when they’re supposed too.”
Grady has gotten Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Jon Pardi, Zach Bryan, Ashley McBryde, and others to interview on his channel. Mind blowing! 🐐
And Kip Moore and Muscadine AND the best quaranstream ever with Gabe Lee lol
@@GradySmith yes! the Kip Moore one was so good 💯
@@GradySmith Would love to see Kip on the channel again. Been a fan since 2012 when the first record was put out. Saw him for the first time in a small theater in Rockford Illinois in 2014 and have been to every tour since
Reba and Dolly … it’s gonna happen!🙏🏽
@@GradySmithyes PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING GOOD AND HOLY GET SEXY KIP MOORE ON HERE AGAIN
I love how real and down to earth Luke is
The ASMR mention reminded me of why I love you. 😂 I started listening to Bob Ross as a small child, and now I listen to people folding towels and putting together summer essentials to go to sleep. ❤ Love Luke and this interview.
Luke seems like the kind of guy I’d like to go fishing with 😂😂😂 He’s just chill and humble
Edit: the Luke Combs bluegrass tour would be amazing. I’m still looking forward to that album 😂
Grady this was sick to see Luke on your Channel! It’s amazing to see how far your channel has come and I applaud you for that. Maybe in the near future you can get Eric Church for an interview?😂🤞🏻🤞🏻
I would S the bed if I saw Chief on Grady’s channel
Phenomenal interview Grady! Pat yourself on the back my friend. Not even just the questioning, the conversation flowed… love it!
love to see this success for the channel to have Luke on for an interview, well-deserved
Love this interview! Congrats Grady and thanks to both you and Combs for this!
I’m obsessed with Luke. So glad you got to chat with him!
I was just at his busch stadium show and i gotta say for a stadium they freaking nailed the audio. One of the best concerts I've ever been to!
super proud of how far you’ve come, grady. i only discovered your channel a year ago, but you helped me get back into country music and find my love for it again. your videos are real, authentic, and entertaining! keep up the good work!
And I love the questions you asked him Grady! Your interview are the best. You ask what we all wanna know/hear.
Grady, you are a natural interviewer! It's fun to see you craft questions for fan favorite artists and bring up diverse topics of conversation.
Luke seems pretty chill. Solid music produced so far in his career.
Great interview Grady! It's like listening in to a conversation with two buds talking music and havin' a beer. Luke seems like a talented guy with humility and appreciation of his fan base and good fortune (ie talent, hard work, time management) to do what he loves.
Such an awesome video. Laid back and easy. Do more of this Grady. Great job!
As a longtime fan of the channel, I remember asking you for this back when you interviewed Ashley McBryde live during the shut down. Thank you for this interview, dream come true! Congratulations Grady!
REALLY enjoyed this interview!
So chill! Love to see how far you've come.
Oh my god this is so much longer than I expected. I love it.
Grady, from a country lovin Illinois boy and his 12 year old daughter, you are blowing up. Your approach to content is next level. Very thought provoking questions that haven't been answered and giving new artists attention, as well. This is some incredible stuff you are putting out. Keep it up and we will keep Watchung and sharing.
I love this kind of interview please make more of it.
Dang, Grady! You are so blessed... Ernest and songwriting one week, the next interviewing Luke Combs. What a great life you're leading!
i’ve watched just about every interview Luke has done that i know of, this by far is my favorite! huge fan of both you & Luke. i love that you asked questions from a fan point of view as well as a “in the music biz” point of view! ❤
For a follower of your channel for years, I´m happy for you and the growth of your channel. Appreciate a lot the high-quality content you put out for us video after video. (btw. A recommendation for a country artist I found yesterday: Alex Key. His album from 2021 has some great songs on it. Would say it goes more in the Joshua Hedley kind of way. It gives me definitely some honky tonk vibes)
I’m glad Luke also thinks Where the wild things are is worthy to be single. That is my favorite song on the album.
This is insanely awesome Grady! You killed the interview, and I think its something you could/should bring to the channel more often. I would love to hear the same type of interview with Zac Brown if its at all possible. Interviewing really seems to suit you
Awesome interview Grady! Super cool to see you getting to sit down with Luke and have an hour long conversation.
great job, grady! + thank you for time stamping!
Fantastic and insightful. Loved it 🙏🏼✊🏻🍺💚
Congrats Grady! Great interview.
Such a terrific interview, Grady!!! Thanks for asking these questions to him, made me like him even more now! Now, I just need to stop kicking myself for not seeing him perform in Indianapolis.
So happy for you!!! Congratulations on this Grady! Been watching you forever ❤❤❤
oh my gosh Grady this is amazing!! you’ve come so far, im honestly proud!
Great Job Grady! This interview held my interest the whole way through, and I learned a lot about Luke. I saw him in 2019 in Greensboro, NC and had the absolute best time! Great crowd, great band, great voice, great times!
Please let Luke know I, a random person across the country, would care about a bluegrass tour and is begging for a bluegrass album!!!!! Also explains why Still is my favorite off the newest album, but doesn't seem to be the favorite of many other people lol
This is wild! Great interview
Great interview!
That man seems so down to earth and I hope to meet him one day. Love the video keep up the grind Grady!
I haven't been invested in artist since high school. I sure appreciate Luke Combs music and will like to see him live someday but I hadn't kept up with interviews or anything. him taking the time for this is awesome. gonna go listen to the 2 new albums in full now
Best interview yet! Well thought out questions
Well done on giving young artists a platform, GS! It's fun to map your journey as a commentator onto Luke's success as a fellow genuine star.
What a fantastic interview, thanks Luke & Grady!
This is so cool. Luke is my favorite country artist! 🥰
Luke Combs and Grady Smith? best day EVER.
Hey Grady! Wow! What a great interview! Very organic and unguarded. Hope you’re doing good. Maybe see you again in Nash soon.
Great interview Grady 👌🏼
omg so excited for you grady! love this
Not impressed by many of the newer performers, but when I caught Luke live on a late night show, a few years ago, he was definitely live & outta breath. It was then that I became obsessed & ran through his lives, & even his official videos did not disappoint. And Fast Cars is just icing on the cake.
You are rolling out some BANGER videos lately Grady 👌
This is major! Keep up the good work!
I had checked out on Luke and this interview has me listening to Growing Old from front to back. Thank you Grady
Saw Luke last summer at FEQ in Quebec City - Largest outdoor stage in the world, with just over 110,000 people out on the grass...
Great get, and a fantastic interview Grady!
I love how this a conversation more than a drill down interview of the same questions…nice work Grady👍🏽🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This is so awesome!! Definitely one of my favorite artists in country music, if not THE favorite. Seems like such a nice and laid back dude.
I wish you could have asked him to put on another concert in New Zealand in August - he sold out his 1 Kiwi concert and half dozen Aussie concerts in less than 5mins. Great interview
Yo lets go!! Finally! 🔥
Great interview Grady. "All the carbs in Europe". Love that.😄
This was a great conversation
My dudes! Ayyyeee! This is sick! 🔥❤️🤘
Great interview. Nice to see how down to earth guy Luke is. Nice to hear he's views on love songs and to see he has a limit how many he can write. The "I love my wife" songs category should not be overused. I usually skip all songs from this category, unless they are somehow clever writes or told in position of relatable, real mundane life past the honeymoon phase, something, like Triston Marez - When she calls me cowboy.
Love the "Where the Wild Things Are" from Gettin' Old album. Has been my #1 spring and now summer track.
The bigger he gets, the realer he gets!! Its beautiful to see how fame will NEVER get the better of Luke ❤❤❤ Thanks for another great interview Grady!!
Grady, you are just slaying it right now!!! I don't usually have time to watch over an hour long video. But when it's someone I like, like Luke Combs, I'll sit down and watch it. Sure, I would love for you to pick Luke's brain a little more and all. But the video is really good. I know this is your latest video, and having Luke back too soon would be boring. I would like to think their should be a part 2 with Luke. Your about the meaning behind songs and all. Picking Luke's brain about songwriting and all would be fun video.
Great Vid Grady, another homerun.
Grady you're killing it
Grady I love your content and everything you do. Are you able to consistently add captions for those of us that are hearing impaired?
Look in the description & you’ll find the transcript to follow along. It’s still not 💯 tho.
The intersection of interests I didn’t know I needed today: Grady x Luke Combs x Taylor Swift!!😀💗
Man this is the big leagues! Congrats dude, you're making it!
I heard his version of Fast Car during my first radiation treatment for breast cancer. When I heard him do it live in Vanccouver a few weeks later, I cried. Holy hell, does he ever put on a great show.
Wow! Such a great guest for Grady. I feel like they really hit their stride when they started talking pure music stuff
yesss! finally! ❤
Love this, but frustrated that Luke doesn't know what Fast Car is actually about! 😱 She's not driving with her dad. It's her boyfriend who's going to take her away from her sad family life. She's leaves with him, but ends up in the exact same way, a with a husband who is never around and doesn't see his kids. She romanticizes the fast car taking her away from the sad home life, but ends up back where she started. She's giving him the choice to live or die this way. It's so poignant!
THIS
Found this to be really odd before watching, bc especially the last line seems bloody obvious who she’s talking to. However, him being so young that it’s one of the first songs he remembers hearing, his young mind came up with the only storyline that he had experience with, & he’s never re-examine the entire song, even though he’s probably played it a thousand times.
THIS!!! Came here to say the same thing.
i saw luke combs at a concert this weekend ❤
Hopefully Where the wild things are is the next single he sends to the radio that song is such a jam
where the wild things are, and the part are 110% my favorites on the album
Grady it might be worth investing in some microphones for your next big interview! 💛
You can hear but, you’re QUALITY. Just need some quality sound here!
LOVE LUKE! Love you too bro! 210k, I found you when you had 5k 😂🤣 madness.
I did not go into this expecting the Taylor Swift conversation and I’m 👏🏼HERE 👏🏼FOR 👏🏼IT
The move to Nashville Era for Grady Smith, I’m here for it! Ya killin’ it!
LOL AT THE THUMBNAIL POSE
Congratulations Grady Smith! I cannot wait to see Luke Combs in Sydney Australia, and get him on my channel one day.
Can’t wait for him to come back to Phoenix on his own, headlining and playing as long as he’d like. 🤘
Tell Luke he better put out Where the Wild Things Are next. My second favorite song after Fast Car from that album. I’d be so hyped to hear that on radio!
I really like Luke Combs he has his lane and he kills it in the space.
Man that was awesome
Knowing that there are 3 songs Luke wrote with Hailey that we can’t hear yet is painful. That album better happen at some point!
Luke is such a cool guy!
Saw Luke for the first time in Chicago a couple of months ago, damn he's fantastic. He sounds the same as he does in studio live, so much respect!!
Just saw him last week and I think he honestly sounds even better live than in the studio
This is why I love luke ❤❤😂
yess hopefully where the wild things are is the next single!! is a song and a half
Yo congrats!! U got luke
Long time no see great interview Grady ought to do Eric Church next!!!
I've asked! (Same with Kacey and Miranda over the years.) One day!
@@GradySmith Dude! An interview with Kacey or Eric would be insane! I feel like they would both have great insight.
Interesting that your ideas of want Fast Car is about is completely different from what I hear when I listen to it. I guess that’s part of why it’s an incredible song. So glad Luke covered it or I would never have found it.
Mine or Luke’s?? I think there’s a whole love story also in the song
@@GradySmith You both expressed similar opinions in this video, so both. I see it more as a girl stuck in the cycle of poverty and the boyfriend fast car symbolized the ability to go anywhere and be someone new. Only she finds that her life ends up repeating the same story of her mom, but now decides to stay unlike how her mom left so that one day her kids will break the cycle.
