My understanding of Different for Girls makes a lot more sense with the music video, since the guy tries to do what the song says except he doesn't actually get any better by the end, where the girl talks with her friends and lets herself grief the relationship and she goes out drinking happily by the end. So to me it sounded more like a dry irony, like they know what they are saying isn't true; like it often is a bit different for girls but that doesn't mean its better for guys. I still see you're point, if you don't think that break-up reactions are different for girls and guys then even ironically it doesn't make sense.

Higher Wire is probably one of my favorite Church songs. For me, it’s his mainstream stuff that gets way overplayed on the radio. Homeboy comes to mind.
Love this fun little video! I took the challenge to look at one of my favorite artists, Cody Johnson, after some digging the only song I found I don't really care for is Grass Stains. I don't really care for the image/thought of green in places the sun don't shine 🤣
Oh my god you referenced “The Green Grass Grew All Around,” I’ve been singing that nonstop lately debating if my nephew is too little to learn it yet.😂 That just made my day. And it is schnockered/schnackered. The o vs a seems debatable but the ch is crucial. 😂
A lot of these songs are some of my favorites (High Beams, Bad Blood, Hurricane) but that is the beauty of this we're all entitled to different opinions!
Something I wanna say about Luke Combs "Hurricane" I don't ever go out of my way to listen to it on Spotify. But that song in person at a concert is really good. I don't know what they do different at the concert but it sounds a little better. Something with the guitars I maybe a bit more prominent. Im not sure.
!!!! I've never felt so negative about a song from an artist I absolutely love like I had with Different For Girls. Just the way how it groups 2 types of coping with gender never sat well with me. But what made me really throw this song out the window was hearing ppl say how "real" and "powerful" it is... I'm sorry, have you HEARD Quarterback by Kira Isabella?! I know it was 2 year earlier but that song has fucking stuck with me for so long.
7500 OBO - Tim McGraw The Joint - Eric Church (I love Higher Wire and Jenny though lol) Pink Sunglasses - Miranda Lambert Jason Aldean’s whole “double album” Macon/Georgia pretty much. Definitely agree on a decent amount of the ones in this video though.
I love somethin bout a truck but I am dying at the comparison to the green grass grows all around. Because it’s so true and ive been trying to figure out what song it reminds me of for 10 years
Red Solo Cup by Toby Keith. Had to drive with the radio off for the first few months after that song came out cause that’s all Country Radio would play. I will ALWAYS change the station when I hear it!
For me “Hurricane” was just very relatable to me being in college. It’s just about trying to move on from someone but once you see them again somewhere you just instantly regressing back to falling back for them
I will echo your sentiments on “Hurricane” by Luke Combs. I’ll be honest, my introduction to Luke was “When it Rains, it Pours”. It was reminiscent of the music I fell in love with Country music, but yet had a modern feel. When I found out it was not his debut, I took a listen to “Hurricane” and just didn’t get it. At all. I’d go as far as to say that it is my absolute least favorite song of his and am baffled that it was what put him on the map. Great video yet again!
I didn't see your IG post, or I might have commented. But if you ever do a part 2, here are my "picks" of songs I don't care for from artists I like &/or love: Keith Urban- "Blue Ain't Your Color"; Luke Bryan- "All My Friends Say"; Tracy Lawrance- "Find Out Who Your Friends Are"; Toby Keith- "Red Solo Cup"; (going old school here) Willie Nelson- "On The Road Again"; Dierks Bentley- "What Was I Thinking" + "Free And Easy"; Zach Brown Band- "Chicken Fried". I'm sure there are more but I can't think of any other songs or artists 'off the top of my head' right now. And, quick question: how/why do you not like Taylor's "You Need To Calm Down"? That one has a pretty great message: just treat other people with basic human decency no matter if your opinions/lifestyles are different.
I also agree with the person who brought up Friend Zone by Danielle Bradbery. That isn’t a very good song, but she does have a great voice and some good songs like Girls In My Hometown and Laying Low. I’d say my favorite stuff of hers are her live/acoustic performances. Her covers of No Air with Jimmie Allen and Tin Man which she did as part of her “Stairwell Sessions” on her YT channel, Shallow which was also done with Jimmie, and A Broken Wing and The Climb which she did on the Bobby Bones Show are just a few of my favorites
I can't stand Me! There was a period of time where I happened to be watching a lot of award shows, and it felt like everywhere I went she was performing Me. I hope I never hear it again
I get what you're saying and it's true some ladies get wasted to get over a guy but some of us don't. I don't drink. It does take me awhile to let go and I'm more of a loner so I have plenty of alone time to think. I spend a lot of time at home reading, painting, cleaning and listening to music. My nights I spend on the beach taking photos while listening to music and I love it that way. I like to think maybe he's talking about all of us ladies that are not the typical of today's times and not in their 20's. Never heard it before so now I'm going to give it a listen.
That'd Be Alright by Alan Jackson. Papa Loved Mama by Garth Brooks. All My Exes by George Strait. Copenhagen by Chris Ledoux. Crushin It by Brad Paisley.
Gosh. Whatever that atrocity was by Zac Brown Band, “Gucci Bags, stacks on stacks…” I truly have not listened to that album again since it came out 3 years ago. I will never touch that disgrace of an album ever again
Justin Moore's debut single Back That Thang Up, Jon Pardi's Up All Night, Kenny Chesney's Come Over, Aaron Watson's Unwanted Man, Reba McEntire's If I were A Boy.
I don’t know why but I do love truck yeah, like it’s just about a love for trucks and lifted trucks, it may not be super country but it is a pretty good sounding song that’s fun to listen to, for me at least
The fun thing about different for girls. Is the Clip tells how the lyrics are not correct, and you see the guy breaking down. And king of Saturday night, in the car. It's a jam haha.
Love your take, Grady, although I love the voices of Dierks and Elle King together on Different for Girls (but yes, agree that the premise is (mostly) false). 🤣 That's Country Bro by Toby Keith was a letdown after waiting for new music (kinda' like Billy Currington's entire Intuition album in 2021. Ugh!). I agree - Miranda Lambert's Mama's Broken is kickass in my view, but I have always hated Little Red Wagon and wondered how that could have been such a 'hit' song.
The song “Talk to me right” by Cody Johnson goes against every other song he’s ever released. All his other songs talk about how you should hold on to a good thing, but this one throws that all out in place for a guy why takes his ring off and sleeps with a girl while his wife and two kids are at home without him. It’s just so NOT the Cody I came to love!
I might be the biggest Turnpike Troubadour fan out there but I normally skip “Something to Hold on To”. Not that it’s necessarily bad but it’s sandwiched between The Housefire and Winding Stair Mountain Blues which both cast a large shadow over it
Loving the shady content! Please give us more hot takes and shade. This is a tangent but one of the most painful live performances is Alan Jackson, George Strait, Dierks Bently and Brad Paisley singing Country Boy together. It was so bad and I probably need therapy to unsee it. The song itself is playful and delivers a well-mannered country man as a bad boy dont-need-no-wing-man, flying solo, getting all the ladies sort of vibe. But that performance had all 4 of the big stars playing alpha and fighting over the narrative, making the song and the performance kind of petty and unpalatable. None of the innuendo was coming across as playful, but just really creepy.
I think ever lovin hand is definitely a strange song, but it’s really well written and has that classic Tyler childers bluegrass sound so imo it’s a good song. It’s just so different from his hits like feathered Indians, whitehouse road, nose on the grindstone, lady May etc. I don’t think Tyler has bad songs, certainly some that are better than others, but no bad songs per se. Especially not compared to the songs in this video lmao
On Hurricane by Luke Combs: I’ve been a huge fan of his ever since I heard that song when it came out, so while now I’d say it’s not my absolute favorite of his by any stretch, it’ll always kind of have a place in my music heart. As far as just a few of my picks, I’ll go with: Thomas Rhett: Vacation; T-Shirt Chris Young: Losing Sleep; Hangin’ On Rascal Flatts: Payback Scotty McCreery: Southern Belle
I have always despised "Stuck Like Glue" by Sugarland. The "wicka walka" backdrop to it makes my teeth hurt, and I don't like how Jennifer tries to do a sort of ska/reggae vocal. I know alot people think its cute and catchy but this is one song, when it comes on, that makes me change the channel.
Your take on Dear Today is the only L I’ve ever seen you take. The difference in production is what makes that drop in so nice 🤌🏼 also the message behind it is so loved in and easy to relate to. I just think you could’ve picked a far worse song of Luke’s to hate 🤷🏽♂️
The worst country songs of all time for me are 1. Body like a back road - Sam Hunt 2. 4x4 - Hardy 3. Drunk - Elle King/Miranda Lambert 4. Mamas broken hearts - Miranda Lambert The worst artiest that hate listening to are 1. Sam Hunt 2. Thomas Rhett 3. Hardy
Morgan Wallen: If I know Me (Maroon 5esque pop song) Luke Combs: Beautiful Crazy (Generic love song) Eric Church: Drink in my Hand (weird two loud snare hits that throw the beat of the chorus off) FGL: Beer:30/New Truck (I do not have to explain) Josh Turner: Hometown Girl (Creepy)
If I know me is not a bad song it's just not as country as people would want it I think . Just because a love song could seem as generic doesn't mean it's a bad song. But It's your opinion

you're on a roll with your vids and I am HERE for it!!! Keep going!!!
Love this fun little video! I took the challenge to look at one of my favorite artists, Cody Johnson, after some digging the only song I found I don't really care for is Grass Stains. I don't really care for the image/thought of green in places the sun don't shine 🤣
I’m not a country music listener but I love this channel. I subscribed.
Somethin bout a truck is one of the best songs ever written. It’s super fkn fun.
I love the Ernest popping up at ‘buy her flowers’ 😅
Grady posting while i’m in school? Gotta do what I gotta do.
Do what you do what you do what you do what you do
@@GradySmith keep doing that thing you doooo running from the truthhh…
I totally vibe to "I Hope She's Drinking Tonight," it's lively and fun sounding, but yeah, it gets awkward if you think about it too long. 😂
I love Higher Wire by Church. Just the bluesy sound is top notch👌🏻👌🏻
Def one of my favorites
Not as much of a fan of it in the album, it’s way better live
That being said I feel like The Snake and Jenny are his worst
Luke's song i wish would go away the most is easily the new one on the radio, The Kind Of Love We Make
Lord I hate that song!
I completely agree. It's *WAY* too overplayed imo
Burning it down by Jason Aldean needs to be here plus red solo cup by Toby Keith
Dear Today grew so much on me, i agree that id want to see a fully produced version
This!!!
I don’t think anyone likes Rolex on a redneck
I can’t believe people don’t like Yin Yang girl, I love that song. Chorus rocks out
Wait I was thinking the same thing HAHA
7500 OBO - Tim McGraw
The Joint - Eric Church (I love Higher Wire and Jenny though lol)
Pink Sunglasses - Miranda Lambert
Jason Aldean’s whole “double album” Macon/Georgia pretty much.
Definitely agree on a decent amount of the ones in this video though.
I love somethin bout a truck but I am dying at the comparison to the green grass grows all around. Because it’s so true and ive been trying to figure out what song it reminds me of for 10 years
In the Midwest, some people say “schnookered.” That may be what you were looking for?
Red Solo Cup by Toby Keith. Had to drive with the radio off for the first few months after that song came out cause that’s all Country Radio would play. I will ALWAYS change the station when I hear it!
For me “Hurricane” was just very relatable to me being in college. It’s just about trying to move on from someone but once you see them again somewhere you just instantly regressing back to falling back for them
Im loving the videos lately!!! So much great stuff! Thank you, you bright up my day :)
"Beautiful Crazy" is my least fav. It's just way too predictable.
@@to13726 "Cold As You" was and is a preset-pusher for me.
love the editing and Shady Grady, keep up the good work man
I didn't see your IG post, or I might have commented. But if you ever do a part 2, here are my "picks" of songs I don't
care for from artists I like &/or love: Keith Urban- "Blue Ain't Your Color"; Luke Bryan- "All My Friends Say";
Tracy Lawrance- "Find Out Who Your Friends Are"; Toby Keith- "Red Solo Cup"; (going old school here) Willie Nelson-
"On The Road Again"; Dierks Bentley- "What Was I Thinking" + "Free And Easy"; Zach Brown Band- "Chicken Fried".
Yes, love her voice but Friend Zone is awful!!
I think DB is a terrinbly underrated artist with a great voice. But "Friend Zone" is positively wretched.
Over You - Miranda Lambert
Sing Along and the whole Sound and Fury album - Sturgill
ME - Taylor
I can't stand Me! There was a period of time where I happened to be watching a lot of award shows, and it felt like everywhere I went she was performing Me. I hope I never hear it again
I’m SHOCKED to see Lori on this list AT ALL. Happy People is not her normal sad song, but it is SUCH a Lori song!
This might be the shadiest Grady video I've ever seen!
Also, we seriously need some Shady Grady merch 👀
I have to agree with you on “Hurricane”, it’s one of Luke’s most popular songs but I just don’t feel it at all.
Mr. Kenny Chesney's awful "she think's my tractor's sexy" haha
Drunk On A Plane - Dierks Bentley cannot stand that song.
Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince did not deserve that slander.
FACTS
Back to back BANGERS from Grady!!
Gosh. Whatever that atrocity was by Zac Brown Band, “Gucci Bags, stacks on stacks…” I truly have not listened to that album again since it came out 3 years ago. I will never touch that disgrace of an album ever again
Definitely adding “snackered” to my vocabulary 😂 also I love smokin and drinkin. The song and the activity.
Exactly Jon is the only artist that truly never misses
You should do Songs you love by artists you didn’t know sang the song
Justin Moore's debut single Back That Thang Up, Jon Pardi's Up All Night, Kenny Chesney's Come Over, Aaron Watson's Unwanted Man, Reba McEntire's If I were A Boy.
What?! You don't like "Unwanted Man?" Blasphemy! LOL
@@Island-Girl It was not one of his best songs out there.
@@Spitfirethedragon I think my favorite AW song is "Off The Record."
Grady talking about friend zone has me laughing out loud
I don’t know why but I do love truck yeah, like it’s just about a love for trucks and lifted trucks, it may not be super country but it is a pretty good sounding song that’s fun to listen to, for me at least
The face layover of the chicks saying “you don’t need him!”💀💀💀💀
I'm hurt. Kick the Dust Up was the first Luke Bryan song I ever heard and it's what got me attached.
I love this editing style!
The fun thing about different for girls. Is the Clip tells how the lyrics are not correct, and you see the guy breaking down. And king of Saturday night, in the car. It's a jam haha.
"King of Saturday Night" sounds like a Brooks & Dunn song with Kix Brooks on lead vocals
I've always liked the melody of that one 😂 I guess I'll have to re-listen
Hate to break it to you but that’s just country music.
I was nervous about your pick for Miranda Lambert haha, but I totally agree!! I often forget that song ever existed.
I agree with a lot of yours!! The kids bop😂 Carrie Underwood's Ghost Story for sure
I might be the biggest Turnpike Troubadour fan out there but I normally skip “Something to Hold on To”. Not that it’s necessarily bad but it’s sandwiched between The Housefire and Winding Stair Mountain Blues which both cast a large shadow over it
Corn Star by Craig Morgan-does not align with songs like That’s What I Love About Sundays 😂
His ex favorite song was definitely Hurricane
My Jaw dropped when you said Hurricane that’s my favorite Luke song
I like to hear Grady's opinion on Country Music
On Hurricane by Luke Combs: I’ve been a huge fan of his ever since I heard that song when it came out, so while now I’d say it’s not my absolute favorite of his by any stretch, it’ll always kind of have a place in my music heart.
As far as just a few of my picks, I’ll go with:
Thomas Rhett: Vacation; T-Shirt
Chris Young: Losing Sleep; Hangin’ On
Rascal Flatts: Payback
Scotty McCreery: Southern Belle
The worst country songs of all time for me are
1. Body like a back road - Sam Hunt
2. 4x4 - Hardy
3. Drunk - Elle King/Miranda Lambert
4. Mamas broken hearts - Miranda Lambert
The worst artiest that hate listening to are
1. Sam Hunt
2. Thomas Rhett
3. Hardy
Morgan Wallen: If I know Me (Maroon 5esque pop song)
Luke Combs: Beautiful Crazy (Generic love song)
Eric Church: Drink in my Hand (weird two loud snare hits that throw the beat of the chorus off)
FGL: Beer:30/New Truck (I do not have to explain)
Josh Turner: Hometown Girl (Creepy)
If I know me is not a bad song it's just not as country as people would want it I think . Just because a love song could seem as generic doesn't mean it's a bad song. But It's your opinion
I agree with evrrything except Hurricane. I know its nothing special but it sparked my love for Luke’s music.
I actually really like Higher Wire. I’ll agree with someone else on here and say The Joint.
1000% agree
I answered Hey Boy, Hey Girl, by Upchurch. Song leaned into bro country too much for me. Also didn't help seeing Katie Noel go psycho on Upchurch within like 2 months of that song being released.
When I asked coworkers the question, one replied Trashy Women, by Confederate Railroad.
