  • Alcyoneus is a low-excitation, Fanaroff-Riley class II radio galaxy located 3.5 billion light-years away from Earth, corresponding to the galaxy SDSS J081421.68+522410.0. It is located in the constellation Lynx and it was discovered in Low-Frequency Array data by a team of astronomers led by Martijn Oei
    Alcyoneus was Discovered in: Feb 2022.

    So if its 3.5 billion light years away does that mean this galaxy could have seperated or even collided back into each other in that amount of time, in the 3.5 billion years since that galaxy looked like that could it mean that galaxies like IC 1101 is still the biggest or is it just about how it looks relitive to us
