What is this swarm of insects? Mixture of June bugs and bumble bees? Is that common?(Central OH USA)

trying to figure out what these insects are in central Ohio without having to knock them down and likely kill them to figure it out. there are thousands of them, they are staying close to the bushes and grass and regularly collide into things but don't seem to fall and die when that happens.

I just walked out and saw the same thing happening in the tree in the back yard!!!! Brought the dog in because I feared it was hornets! They didn’t stay long, I’ve only seen a few in the last half hour. I’m also in central Ohio.

i just posted this to a lot of subreddits and was told this is mating behavior of June bugs... there were definitely some carpenter bees mixed in there which was confusing me, but i guess the ones close to the grass and bushes are June bugs
