- 🟢 As we’ve covered in The Battle To Save Celtic series so far, the early 90s were a treacherous time for Celtic on and off the park, as the club found itself lurching from one crisis to the next.
Fans were up in arms at what was going on, but in those pre-internet times had few places to express their viewpoints.
Not The View Fanzine was created in 1987 and quickly became a fans favourite due to its humorous take on all things Celtic, whilst also providing a voice for regular Celtic supporters.
As we continue to cover the story of that time from all angles we were delighted to be joined by Gerry Dunbar and Joe Miller who tell us more about the origins of NTV as well as the part it played in The Battle To Save Celtic.
It was true 30 years ago, and it's still true now, as you're about to find out.
💪 The Battle To Save Celtic is a new mini-series by The Celtic Exchange marking 30 years since Fergus McCann's Takeover of Celtic in March 1994

Once again Tino a fantastic podcast. It provides the younger fans a knowledge of where we have come from to the success of today. It further underlines that if you don’t freshen up a board then you ultimately pay a price.
Cheers Fredo, thanks for tuning in and for your ongoing support 👍
Tino can't express my delight with this compilation of all the videos and hard work out of the world HH
Thanks Buisty, delighted you've been enjoying the series 🍀
Another excellent video. Great to see Gerry and Joe in rude health and as rebellious as ever. Pioneers.
Thanks Willie, guys were in great form 🍀
I loved these fanzines. We would be howling laughing on the way home in the car after a game reading aloud the satire. Very clever writing. There was an underlying seriousness about what we the fans knew where we were heading and these guys produced a highly entertaining mag that I used to collect. So annoying that I’ve somehow lost them. I’m defo up for a hard copy request. 💚🍀💚
We need the new museum built to document and set in stone all these achievements of these great people who all put their shoulder to the wheel to push the club forwards to where we are today, and for more people of the next generation to keep the board accountable to the fans,I've loved these podcasts showing us these boy sticking their necks out to stop the exploitation of our club to greedy owners who were on self preservation mod 💚🤍💛
Totally agree Kevin.Whatever happened to the boards vision of a hotel, museum and ticketing office? It’s went strangely quiet.
Spot on Kevin., We've got such a rich and storied history and that deserves to be on display in a much bigger way than it is currently 🍀
Was wondering if there were any more coming. Bravo Tino 👍
Thanks @F81 hope you enjoy this one
Good series guys, have enjoyed them all so far and look forward to listening to this one too. Would be interested in hearing Willie Haughey's perspective or someone from his group too, if you are taking suggestions! All the best.
Cheers Tommy, glad you've enjoyed. Yes Willie definitely has a story to tell 👍
Another great podcast in a superb series. NTV was required reading in those days. Never forget the red cards at Ibrox in March 1988. HH.
100% Gary, great stuff from the guys 🍀
My old English teacher Mr Dunbar - what a lovely guy and great teacher, as well as legend of the Celtic support Hail Hail 🍀💚🍀
Gerry & Joe were brilliant! Thanks for watching 🍀
Remember as a young lad buying my copy of NTV & AN PHOBLACHT from the corner of Jane field Street before paying into the,Jungle.
Us older guys lived through these turbulent times, but it's scary to realise how much I had forgotten about them. This series will be referenced by future celtic historian's. So we'll done guys truly remarkable.
Thanks James, really appreciate your support across the series 👍🍀
Excellent show once again, has been a fantastic series.
Another fantastic edition, well-done guys.👍👍 HH
Cheers @mrg appreciated 🙌
This was absolutely beautiful to hear these two talk about everything, the effort and passion they've put in over the years. Hopefully can hear them chat more somewhere online but away to buy some physical copies 💚
Gerry & Joe were brilliant. And great that NTV is still very much alive and kicking 🙌

Cheers Joe! 9 episodes in total, Jock Brown is the most recent one 👍
Another great episode Tino with Gerry&Joe listening it seems the old board in those days sounds similar to our board now.At least Fergus told you what his plan was this board don't think we are important enough to be told what the future holds.
Another great interview Tino. Getting Not the View was the highlight back then compared to what was on the pitch.
Definitely Alan, some great stuff from the guys 🍀
Another great episode in this fantastic series
Cheers Anne, glad you've enjoyed it 🍀
Loved not the view was at that rangers game what a strike by billy stark nice memory 🏴☘️🇮🇪
Fantastic episode, Tino. As the guys said at the end there, we can't go into another season unprepared. We won't have turned the corner until we are well-stocked and actually ready for a European campaign.
Cheers Johnnie. A return to a competitive Celtic in Europe has to be the next step.
Quality again Tino , gotta say whole series has been a great watch/listen, and believe theres more to come ,magic stuff 🇮🇪 🍀
Thanks Ronnie, glad you've enjoyed. More in the pipeline...
Tino another great episode a must watch series for all celts like we sing "if you know your history"
Thanks Aiden, really appreciated 🍀
Tino, wow! what a great interview, as a Graphic Artist myself of that era, like Joe, I can relate totally the way publications were produced. Definitely no Photoshop in those days! Off to Lisbon on the 25th - if you know of a pub in the City to watch the SCF, it would be much appreciated. Regards. Vince 🍀
Great to hear Ryan and glad you enjoyed it. Gerry, Joe and others have produced some brilliant stuff over the years.
Have a great time in Lisbon, what a date to be there! 🙌 Not sure the best bar for the game but celticbars.com is the place for that 🍀
Very well done.
Thanks 🍀
Brilliant Tino
Cheers @Emerald 🙌🍀
Used to buy ' Once a Tim ' as well I remember
Great listen that was. I'm surprised they don't start their own pod, or join up with TCE on a monthly slot ?
The guys were excellent Moe, sure plenty fans would be pleased to hear from them on a more regular basis 👍🍀
@@TheCelticExchange get them on!
Still got my copies not the view
Great stuff. NTV's still on the go even now @buisty - available online (ntvcelticfanzine.com)
This has been a brilliant series be amazing if you can somehow get the Bunnet
Its a real long shot Steven but we've made enquiries.
Fergus McCann is a celtic legend and should have more recognition at the stadium. Might have made 40mill but probably worked 70hrs a week for 5 years with massive risk and pressure. Publicly outed institutional bias against the club aswell.
The work he done in that 5 year spell was incredible @JK and its what laid the foundations for the celtic we see today
Peter is way too hard on himself, ye don’t play that many games under all those managers if yer no a very good player, in respect of that😂 love the bones of this man🍀
Great content..... BUT. Comparing the old board who oversaw austerity and an impoverished team to the sustainability and success of today is absolute madness
Not making a direct comparison JK but just asking the questions from guys who have experienced both at fairly close quarters 👍 Communication could definitely be better with modern day Celtic
