Strachan was an underrated manager! He achieved the last 16 in the Champions' League with Celtic, something no manager since has achieved and he had players like Caldwell, McManus, Barry Robson.....this was a HUGE achievement against big teams like Man Utd, AC Milan, Benfica...
He was class at Leeds leaving Man U and playing in English Championship when Fergie thought he was done only to get promoted back to top flight then winning it. 👏🏻
Gordon Strachan is a man that I have experienced every emotion possible in regards to throughout his career. As an Aberdeen player, he was feared & despised whenever he played against Celtic. As a Scotland international, he was real hope & inspiration against the world's elite. At Leeds, he was a player that I had nothing but huge respect for his longevity & leadership. At Celtic he wasn't instantly liked. Too much previous history & unfortunate to be following MON. He did however fall in love with the club & brought success at a time when it was all about cutting costs. Now, as a man with a lifetime of great memories & wisdom, I could listen to him for hours on end. A top man all round, even if he's an awkward bugger when he wants to be.
Gordon Strachan presented me with the only trophy I ever won as a fitba player. A shite kid at Invergowrie Lads Club, when I was a 12 year old. Now he's back at Dundee, and I am delighted.
@meisterlymanu5214 my 1st Utd game was Chelsea, in 1986. Kerry Dixon scored after 2 minutes. We then got 2 penalties - both of them missed by Olsen & Strachan - shite penalties, both of them, and we lost 1 nil. Never forgiven the pair of them (and have told Jesper this the first time I met him out here in Melbourne where he and I live).
Two of my all time favourites there. As a United fan in the 80s you lived and breathed on everything Bryan Robson. You cannot ignore Graeme Souness absolute beast.
Gordon totally revived n transformed Leeds when he came Won footballer of the year and the League , great player , Leeds best player in the past 35 years
Gordon was selling himself as a youngster a bit short. The first time I saw him he was playing for Dundee in a cup semi-final against Celtic. He was so small and looked so young we thought he was on the picth as a mascot. He eclipsed everyone on the park including Dalglish and McGrain, who would not have been out of place in any team in the world at that time.
Love your show mate, don't always like your guest( Loved Gordon Strachan) but as an open minded man I love everyone's look on life and their opinions. Also most of your guest have a lot of funny stories to tell, so keep it going.
Never forgot him playing for Scotland against England. It was the end of the 80s and loose fitting shorts had just been introduced. They obviously only did one size, large, and on him he looked like a player for the 30s. Hilarious to see him arguing with the ref with those shorts on.
Probably the best manager I've seen @ Coventry & I include Mark Robins in that.

Respectfully disagree. By his own admission he stayed too long at the club. I think he learned from his mistakes at Coventry, and was arguably better at Southampton. I’ve a lot of time for GS, but what Robins has done for us is incredible, especially given all of the shenanigans off the pitch. I’d also say that Gordon Milne ranks above GS…
In his prime Strachan was a great player. Hated by opposition fans and wasn't always popular socially, even with his team mates. I remember when he was @ Leeds hearing personally from Chapman, Sterland, Jones, and Kamara that he was so boring on a night out. After 8pm Strachan was home, while the rest had a few beers! He was spot on about Robson though. Head and shoulders the best player in the UK during the 1980's!
18:14 Not one Baggies fan will ever forget what a great play Robbo was; the board showed ZERO ambition by no building a team around players like Bryan Robson and Laurie Cunningham, the fac that they were both snapped up by footballing super powers such as Real Madrid and Manchester United says it all.
Willie Miller is by far, the greatest ever Scottish Centre Half, and best in the world in the early 80s. Rumour has it Franco Baresi used to watch Willie Miller videos to get tips on how to defend.. A truly phenomenal player.
Sournous fab player yes.. very different to type to Hoddle, GH more apprieciated in European football with his touch, vision & skill levels... could more easily play in current era, GS more suited to 70's & 80's thuggery tackles game... not so suited to todays no touch game.
I remember GS playing for us (Dundee) at Airdrie and getting absolutely booted off the park by Sandy Clark and others. Referee Ian Foote was applauding the assault! Was treated absolutely disgracefully by Scotland.
Although Scotland has done nothing as a team at national football, as a nation we've produced some world class players. Scotland, and Britain as a whole has gotten so much worse in every department since guys like Strachan were playing.

I agree the wee man was underrated at Celtic, but Lennon took us in to the last 16 in 2012-2013.
Did Lennon no take Sellik into last 16 aswell? That time they beat Barca I’m sure they qualified for last 16?
Strachen done it twice and lennon done it also
He has the dubious title of being the manager that relegated Coventry from the PL!
He also had petrov larrson lennon

Gordon was a brilliant player particularly late in his career, so much energh, should be on TV alot more.

The reason for professionals such as Strachan being largely absent from the media is to make room for those approved by the AGENDA.

Gordon walked away from Middlesbrough without taking a penny. How many other men have had so much decency to do that?
