To summarize a few words about the Sanremo festival (I didn't see everything, but most of it) it was a display of high quality music, artistry, talent, orchestration, creativity. Night 4 in particular offered an outstanding musical experience. In terms of singing, the quality was very high, basically Everyone sang very well! I noticed that most of them were so present in the music, they express their story from within and I didn't notice any nervousness. The interplay in the duets was fantastic. Can I have their outfits please 😀, this is totally my style. Most wore black, with an accessory, stylishly and not surprising as it is the most flattering colour. My favorite was Irama "Tu no". I LOVE this! ❤️ The orchestra at the beginning, the harmonies, the choir and above all the PASSION when he sings. I also liked the interplay with Riccardo Cocciante on piano on day 4. So much emotion, I started to cry, the rise of the song together with the orchestra was fantastic. Angelina Mango "La noia" was good! She wasn't an obvious favorite after the first listen but it piqued my interest. She sings very well, is very confident on stage and in her expression, she shows attitude. It is rhythmic, positive, a mix of different musical styles in the song - Latin?, pop etc. The song is currently very good for me, but not exceptional. It's lifted by her performance!! Should be seen live. I think it can grow on me. I also liked Il Volo "Capolavoro", their voices are WOW! And the collaboration with Stef Burns in "Who wants to live forever" was fantastic! I want them to win, but PLEASSE GOD dont let RAI host again.. that black sun will be a permanent stain [Macchia Eterna] on their reputation. Italians are great at Sanremo, because it is a static environment, with only the variances in the stage year to year, but even that is always within the same space and therefore limited in scope. To have an orchestra at ESC again they would have to rollback many of the current EBU requirtements for hosting, and place it in a smaller venue, with smaller stage, leaving room for orchestra. Enough with the insane props and stuff. I would like to see more emphasis on the song itself, than all the bells and whistles.

You really brought out your ID cards for proof🤣 What an insane SanRemo this was! You defo need to check it out Shane, genuinely only 5/30 songs i would skip👏 Now to Angelina, this song is top tier quality and currently my favourite out of the selected songs. She’s such an incredibly charismatic performer to match, killer combination! I have no doubts La Noia is coming to fight for that win in Malmo💯 This was only my 4th favourite and i say that loosely as that in itself shows how high of a level we’re talking about. My personal winner was Annalisa but it became very clear if anyone was going to stop Geolier winning on the final night mainly due to South of Italy voting it would be Angelina so that at least cheered me up after the UMK results… No shade to Geolier either, the song is actually decent but in normal circumstances it wouldn’t have been anywhere close to the SuperFinal and would have no doubt ended Italy’s minimum Top 10 at Eurovision streak. My Top 5: 1. Annalisa 2. Mahmood 3. Clara 4. Angelina 5. Irama
The moment I found out Angelina was going to perform in Sanremo I knew she was going to slayyyy. Not really into her song that you mentioned but Ci Pensiamo Domani is an ultrabop. And so is La Noia ❤ it will all come down to staging cause the song is quite tricky to present in an attractive way. I mean, her Sofi Marinova vibes could work in Sanremo but will tank her in Malmo. Fingers crossed!
I learned about the marathon that is Sanremo living in Napoli 87-91 and watching it on RAI live. So I always like to razz casual viewers who complain about ESC going long! LOL #Slackers #WeakSauce
This video is from a sunday show after Sanremo week and everybody is exhausted XD I think this is a studio version, much less impactful. She's the newest among Sanremo favourites, Geolier fan base is bigger. Her parents are singers. Since radio entered Sanremo the genres changed in a more market-oriented way. Sanremo evolved fastly the last 5 years opening to social media and as a consequence to a younger audience.
My top is: 1. Annalisa 2. Angelina 3. Mahmood But very happy with the Angelina's win. She is amazing. Annalisa's song will be forever with me and it is a crime that she doesn't go to Eurovision.
I usually get an immediate love it, mmmm it's ok, or definite not for me in the first play of entries. This is a tricky one for me as im undecided so far but have a warm feeling about it. Its a definite grower and she is fabulous and sings well( so probably not doing a "May Muller"). Doubt this will be my favourite entry of 24 but i may be swayed. I for one miss the Italian ballad and the hot Italian men but its Italy so of course it's a great song well produced/staged and without a doubt do very very well. Sounds like you are planning a vanishing act next year???😢.....starting a "stop Shane leaving" protest....all ESC fans sign here!!!! Well done Italy.
I had Annalisa, Angelina and Clara as my Top 3 - and Clara actually climbed to my number one during Sanremo. I’m probably not going to listen that much to ‘La Noia’, but it’s fine.
Shane, it is less "Mediterranean" than Caribbean.. Cumbia is a music style/dance that comes from the AfroCOlombian community - and you feel the influence/flavor similarities to Cuba/Domin. Rep../Puerto Rico. Colombia is a wonderful crossroads of cultures! But there are definite Mezzogiorno musical influnces as well, with her coming from Basilicata - squeezed between Campania and Puglia
To be honest, it doesn't have much of cumbia rhythm for me (mostly at the beginning). This is more of a mixture of latin Caribbean styles, as you said. Not meaning it's wrong, I'm sure this will do great in ESC. Good choice from Italy!
Italy chooses a song that everyone likes.Very unusual.Great lyrics too.Hope she wins, but surely not with this performance from the talk show for elderly people-Domenica in😊
Shane, I thought you escapted to India to avoid the possible riots if Geolier won Sanremo 🤣. When it was revealed winning at the end of night 4 there were massive boo's in the arena. Geolier is from Naples and his song is in Neopolitan, so the general consensus was that this was a bit of a Tanxugeiras moment with regional voting taking over. Only unlike Tanxugeiras, the song from Geolier was rubbish 🤣 But on a serious note, some people are saying he is pretty popular with the 'youth', so maybe that drove his numbers up too. But yeah, thankfully he didn't win, especially as this year did seem to be the year of the female in Sanremo. Also there was a good dozen songs I would be happy to see win, and only a few I didn't like, and Geolier was one of those 🤣 Personally I wanted Annalisa to win, her song is just perfection for me, and definitely check out the final night performance as she ends the song more epically thean the previous nights performances. Girl knows when to bring her A-game 🤩 Angelina however was my number 2 of the selection and really happy she did win, it is my current favourite at present, and Angelina really bring the latin flair home. Do check out the final night performance as I feel she delivered her best performances when it mattered too. And look out for the trip at the end, it didn't affect anything but I liked how she just laughed it off 😍 So yeah, Finland and Italy both neglected to choose too absolutely A-class songs, but they both selected my 2nd favourite so I am an happy bunny with both.
@terryescreations24-7 I guess you are not from Italy and you are misinformed . I 'm writing you just to let you know that Geolier has twice the streams Angelina Mango does. He won 53 platinum disks, he had the most streamed album on Spotify Italy in 2023. His fanbase is HUGE and his concerts sold out all over the country. I don't know who Tanxugeiras are (I guess they are not known nation wide in their own country?), but you calling Geolier a regional artist like he is some sort of obscure, unknown artist is a mistake. You don't know seems to know a lot about italian music charts. Geolier consensus coming only from his region is a lie .Me and my friends went to his sold out concert in Milan and also voted for him at sanremo. ..He is the most successfull artist of the 2. You absolutely have the right to your opinion, I just wrote to explain you who Geolier is in Italy . Lastly, we already sent at ESC a song in neapolitan. Our entry in '91 Di Capri 's song ua-cam.com/video/uYo9PN10bm4/v-deo.html.
The televote was fairly unbalanced towards geolier due to a mix of various fanbase/political effects. Angelina and Annalisa were the best singers this year in sanremo, especially if we evaluate them in eurovision terms
I was really hoping that Mahmood would win. Tuta Gold is incredible and much better than Soldi imo. I also loved Diadatos, Irama's, and Il Volos songs. La Noia is great as well, so im not too upset, and it will do great at Eurovision, im sure. It's my 5th place at the moment.
This year's top 6 was a true "Murderers' Row" in the true sense. One reason Giolier was doing so well on his performaces was the fragmented voting among the other 5, allowing the mass Campanian vote to have more impact. But as people have pointed out his music is listened notably more in Milano and Roma, than just in Napoli. So he definitely had impact outside Campania/Mezzogiorno. I personally think this is the most powerful Sanremo I can remember since I started watching from USA online 15 years ago or so, and it matches up with the best of what I saw when I lived there (Oxa, Leali, Cotugno, Minghi/Mietta, etc). A legendary year - made so much more amazing thru the programming.direction of Amadeus. I dont envy ANYONE trying to step into his shoes after the last 5 years!
Finally not a male ballad from Italy. I really like it. And Angelina is such a good performer! So.... You are now in India, your life will change in May and you probably won't be in Italy next year... Am I here on a right track? 😊
people keep saying male ballad and yet Soldi wasnt a ballad, Occidentali's Karma wasnt a ballad, Zitti e Buoni sure as **** wasnt a ballad! I dont think you can even call "Non mi Avete Fatto Niente" a ballad either! I'm a bit split as to whethere Grande Amore counts as a true ballad.
@@ShanesEurovisionReview it is hard, I JUST figured out that I have to feminize some verbs! What? At least you don't have to worry about that issue. Anyways, rumor has it that the camorra fixed the televote for Giolier (yeah, my Italian husband could barely figure out how to say it either) by handing out 1000s of prepaid sims, or something.
I am happy that they send a woman. I LOVE Italian male ballads (HUGE HUGE fan of Tiziano Ferro) but after 8 years of male ballads, it was starting to get a bit boring. That said, my favourite was Irama, I LOVE that song so much, the raspy voice, I adore. Not to mention my completely unprofessional love for his looks and those blue eyes..uufff 🥵🥵😇😇☺☺ but, I didn't want a male ballad to win again so my second favourite was Annalisa. However, she was a bit static and plain in her performances. I had Angelina under my radar to be honest, wasn't a great fan of the song, but she was super engaging, energetic and fun to watch, especially in de finals, and vocally she is really really good, these bows are difficult to do. The song also stands out, so I think Italy made the right choice. About you, I am starting to tie up hints and comments about your plans in the future (and experiences in the past 😉) and I am very very happy that you are finding and choosing the path that gives you joy and happiness in life, so good for you sweety 🥰🥰.
@@ShanesEurovisionReview 🤗🤗 By the way...!!! Did you see the epic duet of Skin and Santi Francesi on SanRemo duet night??? See, told you, I might be vintage but Skin never gets old baby 🤩🤩🤩!!
Hi Stefi! 😊 Hope you are doing well!? 🌺 I am writing to you because I noticed that we share the same passion for Irama 🥰. I need someone to vent my love for this song and artist with.. haha.. I don't know how you feel but I can say the least that I am defeated, totally... Love at first sight, I mean at first "note" 😉☺️😍. It actually was, I fell pretty straight away, and I fell hard 😊. The more i hear this song, the more convinced I am that this may be the finest, strongest of all I have heard. I am in love with this song and he sings in a way that makes me fall a little in love with him ☺️. Visually too 😄. This grabs my soul, I get chills and am very touched. When he "screams" his feelings out with the raspy voice, completely at one with the music, I'm sold and close to tears/gets tears in my eyes ❤️. Even if this masterpiece did not win, I will carry it with me for a long time. The video is also beautiful. So I thank "Sanremo" for this gift (and everything else I got to experience). Hope you have a nice evening and weekend with Germany's selection and a new Super Saturday tomorrow 😊💖. Ciao! 🌺
Ironically no actual Balkan intentinally in it - I think you are confusing Mediterranean (Greece, which is a fusion of Balk/Med) here. It has strong elements of style form the far south Mezzogiorno of Italy (she is from Basilicata - between Campania and Puglia) and of course the Cumbis form Colombia.
Feeling very "meh" about the song but pleasant...I liked seeing her win over the other finalist. The juries pulled her though and her father was famous too right? If it was Albania peoples would scream corruption ;) One of the songs i liked the most was by Santi Francesi and Annalisa was fun too
The voting was rigged, but not in her favor, so it is amazing she won. I wish Loredana or Fiorella would have gotten 2nd place, just for the history of it, but their songs were not as popular.
Santi Francesi were criminally underrated. I hope to see more of them in the future. I dont mind ogling that stunning singer more, either! I also enjoyed Spettacolare ( Mannini) which had some simialr style to it.
AHEM... his name is SHANE, not Shawn (my name) I had a stepbrother named Shane, and he and I lamented this giant PITA of nameswapping our entire lives. Sadly I lost him a year ago to terrible cancer issues.
You’re not watching the right version, this is the version after the festival is over, without orchestra. She has less choreography and is tired. You should watch Prima Serata!
Wasn't clear which one to watch so I opted for this one. At the end of the day I just wanted to listen to the song as had not heard it before as staging will obviously be different at Eurovision 😀
Mahmood was my favourite. Kind of surprised he didnt do a bit better. La Noia was my second favourite so Im happy. Im not sure it screams winner though. Sometime youre going to have to do a video fully in Italian and let Italians slaughter you for it 😉🤣
@@ShanesEurovisionReview i gave a 3 minute talk at my church...with it written out 4 different times, my husband checking my work twice and I practiced for a month and I still was horrible. There is NO WAY, I could just do a video like this.
@@ShanesEurovisionReview DO you tryt to watch any Italian TV regularly? When I was stationed in Napoli 1987-1991, watching the same shows every day etc really helped get me ear for it down, and then I started building vocabulary beyond the core grammar. I didnt actually take any Italian classes until about 1.75 years there. And I was dealing with Napoletano accents on even the standard Italian! Talk about a challenge!
its a good song but like all other italian songs there are too many words and it makes a negative impact on me, i want more of a melody. I almost get stressed when listening x.x
Oh dear.. it's just me Shane i know but I really can't get onto the hype train here. I find it repetitive and uninspiring. Maybe its because i love the traditional ballad sound that Italy normally sends. The Italian language is beautiful when used in a heartfelt slow song. San Remo this year really was excellent. My favourites were Renga Nek ( which noone else seemed to enjoy ), Il Volo ( producing what you'd expect) and my ultimate winner, Irama. Oh boy, can that man sing!! Still, Italy should be applauded for switching things up. Last time they sent a female vocal they failed to make top 10. Just saying!! I'm bad, i know! 🙈🙈
You watched the worst performance of La Noia, one of the two preliminaries would have been better (so not even the one from last Saturday's final evening)
Don't ever bother listening to the song by Geolier (2nd in Sanremo), it's horrible, he ended up second just because people from Naples (where the singer is from) cheated when voting: they bought thousands of sim cards and used call centres to increase the number of votes. Thank god the strategy didn't work and the singer didn't win. Probably the worst song in the history of Sanremo.
The cheating was alleged. The fact Geolier has twice the streams Angelina has and he has won 53 platinum disks should ring a bell on who is the most successfull artists out of the two. I live in Milan and 20 out of 25 people in my class voted for him. Meanwhile you're an internet troll.

BTW co-written by Madame!!
I DID NOT KNOW THIS. I LOVE IT MORE NOW 😍
Shane, it is less "Mediterranean" than Caribbean..
She mentions the Cumbia but there is no Cumbia, these are just lyrics
Italy chooses a song that everyone likes.Very unusual.Great lyrics too.Hope she wins, but surely not with this performance from the talk show for elderly people-Domenica in😊
She reminds me the songs sung by Silvana Mangano or Sofía Loren. Top 10 or 5 sure.
Only unlike Tanxugeiras, the song from Geolier was rubbish 🤣
But on a serious note, some people are saying he is pretty popular with the 'youth', so maybe that drove his numbers up too. But yeah, thankfully he didn't win, especially as this year did seem to be the year of the female in Sanremo. Also there was a good dozen songs I would be happy to see win, and only a few I didn't like, and Geolier was one of those 🤣
Personally I wanted Annalisa to win, her song is just perfection for me, and definitely check out the final night performance as she ends the song more epically thean the previous nights performances. Girl knows when to bring her A-game 🤩
Angelina however was my number 2 of the selection and really happy she did win, it is my current favourite at present, and Angelina really bring the latin flair home. Do check out the final night performance as I feel she delivered her best performances when it mattered too. And look out for the trip at the end, it didn't affect anything but I liked how she just laughed it off 😍
So yeah, Finland and Italy both neglected to choose too absolutely A-class songs, but they both selected my 2nd favourite so I am an happy bunny with both.
Your a great detective haha....putting together all the clues 😄
@@ShanesEurovisionReview haha reading crime series has finally paid off
people keep saying male ballad and yet Soldi wasnt a ballad, Occidentali's Karma wasnt a ballad, Zitti e Buoni sure as **** wasnt a ballad! I dont think you can even call "Non mi Avete Fatto Niente" a ballad either! I'm a bit split as to whethere Grande Amore counts as a true ballad.
Are you moving to India?
Let's see 😃
@@ShanesEurovisionReview 😮😮😮
Please react to another Queen Annalisa 🎉
I have lived in Italy for 4.5 years and my Italian is also barely beginning level.
Good to know I am not alone haha 😆 ❤️
Not to mention my completely unprofessional love for his looks and those blue eyes..uufff 🥵🥵😇😇☺☺
but, I didn't want a male ballad to win again so my second favourite was Annalisa.
💕 💞 ♥️ 💜 💙 hearts are for the final couple of lines haha!
I think most people feel the same as you regarding Italy 😄 ❤️

By the way...!!! Did you see the epic duet
of Skin and Santi Francesi on SanRemo duet night??? See, told you, I might be vintage but Skin never gets old baby 🤩🤩🤩!!
EXCUSE ME?? SInce when are Occidentali's Karma and Zitti e Buoni "male ballads" What utter rubbish comment.
Wow, pardon me, no need to be so rude you know. Okok, relax, so those were no male ballads, but they were male vocalists though. ✌ @@ZakhadWOW
Ciao! 🌺
6:30 I didn't understand what the problem is if Italy hosts Eurovision again 🤔
I can't go 😢
It sounds sooooo balkan
Good thing???
Ironically no actual Balkan intentinally in it - I think you are confusing Mediterranean (Greece, which is a fusion of Balk/Med) here. It has strong elements of style form the far south Mezzogiorno of Italy (she is from Basilicata - between Campania and Puglia) and of course the Cumbis form Colombia.
The real winner it’s Annalisa, react to her.
Feeling very "meh" about the song but pleasant...I liked seeing her win over the other finalist. The juries pulled her though and her father was famous too right? If it was Albania peoples would scream corruption ;)
One of the songs i liked the most was by Santi Francesi and Annalisa was fun too
Albania's famous person's child couldn't hold a note, the fact that he won the juries was strange.
This was not a riggery at all. She was the best all the way through and her cover was so beautiful. 100% deserved that win.
@@zsokapados5197 not to me
The voting was rigged, but not in her favor, so it is amazing she won. I wish Loredana or Fiorella would have gotten 2nd place, just for the history of it, but their songs were not as popular.
Santi Francesi were criminally underrated. I hope to see more of them in the future. I dont mind ogling that stunning singer more, either! I also enjoyed Spettacolare ( Mannini) which had some simialr style to it.
how do you socialize in italy without knowing italian?
With GREAT difficulty 😃
Why don’t you want us to win Shawn? We are already preparing a bigger sun
Hahahahaha I DO, just if it happens I won't be able to go and that will be annoying haha 🙃
@@ShanesEurovisionReview Imagine if we win and next year we place a malfunctioning moon 🤣🤣 I am living for that idea.
@GianniDN hahahahaha shhhh don't put that manifestation into the universe haha 😆
@@ShanesEurovisionReview 🤣🤣🤣
AHEM... his name is SHANE, not Shawn (my name) I had a stepbrother named Shane, and he and I lamented this giant PITA of nameswapping our entire lives.
Sometime youre going to have to do a video fully in Italian and let Italians slaughter you for it 😉🤣
Italians are a very proud group haha...I will pass at an active opportunity to offend Hahaha 😆

@@ShanesEurovisionReview i gave a 3 minute talk at my church...with it written out 4 different times, my husband checking my work twice and I practiced for a month and I still was horrible. There is NO WAY, I could just do a video like this.
@@annarae2396 I feel your pain. My worst nightmare!!!!
ANGELICA???!!!!!! "I actually do know Angelica Mango"... Well *that* didnt age very well! 😁😆😅
I know here too haha 😄 ❤️
Oh dear.. it's just me Shane i know but I really can't get onto the hype train here.
🙈🙈
Right you have made me want to listen to all songs tomorrow! Thabk you you ❤️
@@ShanesEurovisionReview my pleasure

2 hits
Annalisa should have won
I will check that out later when I get home
You watched the worst performance of La Noia, one of the two preliminaries would have been better (so not even the one from last Saturday's final evening)

Awwwww it's cute, we are twinning 😊😊
very average song, easy to forget. for me the level has gone down this year san remo
