I have a huge PS4 collection and around 70 PS5 games but I have only finished 7 games this year. I actually spent more time watching game reviews/news updates than trying to clear my backlog.
I’m so glad UA-cam changed its algorithm. Now I’ve found a UA-camr with almost my exact taste in games and a couple new must-plays to pick up in 2024.❤
Clearly I’ve been a good boy this year because this is the best Christmas gift I could ask for! Thanks for enlightening me once again fatty, looking forward to the 2024 face reveal!
Glad I found your channel. As a dude in my mid 30s I feel I've had a similar relationship with gaming as what you described in the intro. I tried a bunch of these games as well and loved them. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!
Same story for me as it was with you. I was deep into the competitive smash grind, I also wanted to get into the single player masterpieces, but could never bring myself to make the jump. That was until this summer, and since then I’ve been on the grind with my backlog. S: Pikmin 4, Cuphead (and its DLC), Shadow of the colossus, Neon White, Tears of the Kingdom A+: Banjo Kazooie, Enter the Gungeon, Elden Ring, Mario Wonder A: The Messenger, Pikmin 1, Super Hot, Donkey Kong Country 3, Superliminal, Pikmin 2 B+: Blasphemous, Gato Robato, Portal, Sonic Mania, Link’s Awakening Remake, Wargroove 2, Doom Eternal, Yoshi’s Island B: Disc Room, Wargroove, Golf Story, Rivals of Aether, Donkey Kong Country 2, Kaze and the Wild Masks C: Mario World (sorry), Mario Galaxy (sorry), Eastward, Donut County D: Mario 64 (sorry), Owlboy, Paper Mario 64, Super Metroid, Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair, Unpacking F: Sonic 2 (sorry), Grapple Dog
Wow, putting Sonic 2 on F is very shoking, I understand the game is old and for that reason, not perfect in some aspects, but damn xd. Zelda Totk and Shadow of the Colossus on the other hand? NICE
If you're looking for an incredible indie game to try out you should consider Outer Wilds. Totally blew me away the first time I played it and I sometimes wish I could wipe my memory to experience it again.
The first time I’ve heard a new praise for hollow knight in a long time, I’ve never thought about or heard anyone mention the creativity of the different light sources, incredible review quality and editing, masterpiece of a video
Dayum, seems like you had an absolute banger of a year with some of those modern classics. I have been catching up on modern Indie masterpieces as well and I wanted to share my tierlist for you: Easy S Tier for me: Celeste, Outer Wilds, Lil Gator Game and A short Hike Low S Tier: Tunic, Stray, Jusant, Inscription A Tier: Ori and the Will of the Wisps, untitled goose game B Tier: Haiku, Inside, Super hot, Will you snail
Amazing video. Added a few new games I need to play on my list. I’m just getting into metroidvania games, but I’m a huge fan of souls like and roguelike. Just bought blasphemous tonight. We have a very similar taste in video games. Thanks for the great content 🔥🤝
I’m fast approaching 3,000 games on Steam and completely relate to this video. Looking forward to your next tier list! Also Satisfactory exits Early Access this year! Woo!
Since I got my first gaming PC back in 2021, every year I discovered and played new indie games and even though I already liked games because they were fun, now I really appreciate everything from story and characters to combat and exploration to music in any genre of game.
I know this list is subjective, but I definitely disagree with your rating on Moonlighter. This game mixes the fast paced dungeon combat with a cozy shop-owner simulator, with both elements being well made and polished. I think it is a creative concept that was very well executed. Graphics are great, gameplay is addictive. To me this was a really solid experience that deserves an A on a tier list. Other than that, solid video!
yeah idk. I really enjoyed moonlighter too but i definitely wouldn't give it an A. B at the least though. It was hella fun played it during the covid time. Good times.
Really like this video, didn't skip a single second. I like how you present your opinion of each game! Not sure if you have a new video planned rn but either way I'm subscribing.
This video is exactly what I have been thinking of committing to as well. I have an embarrassing backlog and also spent too much time stuck in 1 genre (Arpgs). I was very surprised I only own 4 of these titles. I have over 1200 different pc games. And I don't own Dead Cells. I wonder if I have to turn in my controller now from shame lol
Love this video! One thing I wanna mention is Sea of Thieves takes a bit to really experience the pinnacle of it's PvP and journies. Nonetheless it's a spectacular game to play with friends!
Very good video! I liked how you described your own experience with the games. Amazing! A little tip for next time: maybe make the video a little bit louder. Merry Christmas!
Loved this content, Been in a similar situation recently, was nice to see someone experience the same. I have 5k+ hours in CS2 now and recently looking more into chill games with i can play with just my controller. Relax and get back to how we used to play games back in the day is the vibe now.
I spent about 6 months playing P5R, I restarted twice and finally beat it on my 3rd try. I absolutely loved it up until my 2nd attempt and by the 3rd time i was fed up of it. It's a shame because the game is really really good.
If you like a completely story-telling game, I would recommend Citizen sleeper. It's not so short, I think it took me 14 hours to finish the game once, but I enjoyed all of it, there are a lot of characters and even though there is no "real" gameplay because it has a dice mechanic, the decisions you make affect the story and your relations with characters and the world.
I love channels that go over multiple games I enjoy as they play through them for the first time, it's almost like re experiencing it all over again from a viewer perspective. You've automatically got a sub from me & I hope you make similar videos to this.
I've been watching a lot of videos lately of people sharing their games played in 2023, but not from 2023. I'm wondering if it's because I started posting videos myself or maybe because a lot of us looked at 2023 and went "Oh, s**t! These amazing games will not stop being released anytime soon. I better start digging into that backlog." 😁
great video, knew you had good taste as soon as dead cells went into s-tier Ive also been converting from competitive games to offline games and can now actually game to relax:) hollow knight is my fav game btw
I think what I like about core keeper is it actually got me to start bothering with automation and railways. Usually survival RPGs have so much power creep and ways to get a fuck ton of resources that it just isn't necessary but building railways out to the further away biomes is in your best interest. Especially since the game softly encourages you to set up camp by spawn. Also if what you want is a sense of urgency and a need for communication with DRG's enemies then you'll love the new stalker enemy they're adding, which remains invisible and renders your shields broken for 10 seconds after it hits you. And for Sea Of Thieves, really any MMO, it makes sense that you had no clue what you were doing. 90% of the gameplay is based on doing the same quests over and over again for money to buy cosmetics. I don't think I've ever seen an MMO break the "inch deep, mile wide" cliche. It's no lie to say what makes Sea Of Thieves good is its vibes.
Agreed with all your reviews, but for deep rocks. They were all really well thought out and I loved some of your thinking. I personally would rate deep rock as one of my favourite games of all time, but in order to enjoy it to it’s fullest does require some additional work from the player and your friend group. You must not only play the dwarf, but be the dwarf. Got about 200 hours in it in the past few months and it feels like a game that just keeps giving. Yes it may have elements of repetition, but if you change your builds or run overclocks the game can hit incredibly different. Loved all your reviews, just disagree with DRG, but I can see why you rate it what you did. Well thought out reviews for such a small channel.
The one thing I will say about stalker is that the story is supposed to feel like it's apart of the world, not the other way around. It is very lore focused and doesn't seem involved until you look at it further, which is something I like for stalker.
Slay the spire is a game I played the most in my gaming career, I think around 400 hours on PC and mobile version combined. And I mostly play multiplayer games but the depth in this one is just so good xD.
to the moon reminds me of stardew with story and slay the spire a bit of evoland. gonna try them thanks. you got a nice choice of games for after work and chill
Amazing video! No joke I think you might be the best game reviewer out there, for real. When I finish watching a video by other popular reviewers I'm always left empty and I'm pretty much at the same place where I started, but with yours I truly got a comprehension of all these games and now know which ones I'll like and which ones I won't like so much. It also helps that your likes and my likes are very similar I guess. The only thing I wanted to mention is that it'd be nice if you could primarily show gameplay footage on the games, which you do for the most part, but since some trailers barely show gameplay, it's hard to get a grasp of what the game is actually like. i.e on the STALKER part. It's fine though, it's only a minor complaint. Aside from that, don't change anything else about your style, I can't wait for the next video. Keep up the good work! You definitely deserve more subscribers
I know it has been a long time but wanted to provide an update here. Everything I said still holds up, though on rewatch I realized that we may not have the same takes completely. I haven't really played most of the games in the video aside from Hollow Knight, Dead Cells and God of War Ragnarok. I'd give all 3 of those an S tier just like you did, but for example you mentioned how GoW5 topped it's already really good predecessor. I like GoW 2018 but I seem to be on the minority on the take that it wasn't actually that good. Like, maybe an A tier but far from S tier. And you mention liking EEAAO which I really didn't like, and Interstellar which was good but imo not masterful(too slow, the only real good part is the ending and climax)
As i have gotten older I acutally find myself playing more singleplayer story games in short sessions. I can definetly relate to the fatigue that you you get when it comes to online video games. Ranking up and just queuing over and over again to experience the same gameplay just isn't as fun or entartaining as completing a good story game.
Im little late, But the best thing ive done in a long long time in terms of Video games was that i quit all the PvP games and started to enjoy these story games once again
You should definitely try bg3 this year also I noticed u mainly played a bunch of hidden gem style of games it would be cool to see a ranking like this with more triple aaa big games but also the great hidden gem game that are oxenfree and haven
Loved the video, especially your commentary, one suggestion I'd have is, instead of generic youtibe clips, it would be even more awesome if you put clips of your own gameplay.
Totally agree, but since this video was already taking a lot of time to make and I'm just doing this for fun, I will probably stick to generic footage for a while. However I appreciate the kind words and suggestions!
nice tierlist! i relate to many of your opinions and like your style, but i cant understand why did you put underatle in B? from your story it seems you didnt even finish the game. Also you said that it gets repetetive, while every enemy has a different way to beat and a different attack pattern. Me myself played through the game 5 times and still appreciate everything about it. I'm looking forward for your reply
One i can say, you like beautiful hand crafted Indie games. And i really like that taste. Try Ori and the blind forest and Ori and the will of the wasp, am sure you will love them judging your genre.
Hey turns out my 2023 list had many similar titles: Dead Cells : agree on the story. You can have a vague story and be good, but dead cells is not it. Firewatch : I was actually disappointed with that game. It was good, but the story left me wanting more and disappointed with the ending. Also other games in the genre made it more immersive (choices that matters, better gameplay). Still I'd had place it similarly, either top C or bottom B for me. Hades : currently my top rated rogue like of all time. Gameplay, characters, stories, music, progression, just great. S is where it belongs. Hollow Knight: I wish I experienced what so many people claim they have experienced. Hollow knight for me was good, but not great. I preferred both Oris, for their story, characters, second Ori has better combat, better side quests, and better boss designs in my opinion. It's apparent though that Hollow Knight highly influenced the transformation between ori 1 and 2. I have a lot of respect for Hollow Knight and I think I'd rate it higher if I played before any other similar games back in 2017. Slay the spire : agreed. The only reason I stopped playing it was that I preferred continuing my backlog than spending countless hours in it.
The reason why you don't remember any of the characters from Shadow of Chernobyl is, because it's uniquely not a character-driven story. Personally for me Shadow of Chernobyl is a peak of video game storytelling, but I understand it's not for everyone.
you should play the blasphemous DLC it has the best bosses i ever played in metroidvanias ALSO you CAN unlock fast travel in blasphemous you just gotta donate 20K points might be a lot for the beguininging but understandable around the middle half of th e game
Very good video, but u need to check the audio: founded your commentary a bit too low -and drops even lower at some points- compared to your other videos.
I hope you try out the deus ex games in some time. it has the best level ive see in any game ever, and the skill tree in the most recent installment will make you feel like a god by th le end of the game (if you picked the correct upgrades)
Just bought skul and have a nice death and while watching this video I realised that all games that I find interesting are also rogue likes. I dont want to buy another Rogue Like man 😭
Holy shit man has insane taste in games most of these are classics glad that they are still being experienced. Video was well edited and smooth great job. Only a slight bit of feedback some of the mini reviews for certain games feel just a bit bland.
on mobile i made it to five boss cells before switching from android to iphone and losing all my progress so when i got the game on steam i won on my first run💀
I don't know if you've played it but I highly reccomend you to play Outer Wilds, it's one of the greatest story games of all time. Make sure to not search it up or spoil it for yourself since the whole game is basically ruined once you do. This is because the only way to finish the game is by understanding the story and gathering information as the game has no leveling system. This means that everything you can do after 100 hours is possible to do with 0 hours, but you just do't know how to at the start. Theoretically someone can beat the game in less than half an hour of playtime if they spoil it for themselves, so try to use no guides, and if you do, choose spoiler free guides at least, but still try to avoid them so you can at least feel accomplished at the end. Oh, and turn up the volume, because the music in incredible.
@@fattyhacker5745 Thats awesome! Are you including it in your 2024 ranking list or have played it a long time ago? Either way, dlc drops in a week so, super exited for it!!!
@@fattyhacker5745 I'm thinking on doing so too. I guess if I were to recomend any other games to you, I would say little nightmers, oneshot, portal, cuphead, lies of p, neon white or any other fromsoft soulslike.
I really liked the video but I have to mention that you gave up on Sea of Thieves really quick. You can't usually unlock every mission in 4 hours. I played the game like 155 hours and even I couldn't unlock every mission or I didn't finish every Tall Tale (which are basically story missions in SoT). Also I have to say that game becomes more funny by you play it because a mission or a certain level recquired fights are usually better than the ones you are doing now.
I agree with him that it has significant flaws. The core idea of it is great but there are some design choices that are so baffling it makes me angry. Why is the pirate creation just picking random until I get one I like? Why are the only unlocks cosmetic when every other game has figured out the concept of sidegrades? Why is the combat worse than skyrim? Why is it so easy for ship combat with players to be reset back to square 1 with no progress made? Why is boarding enemy (player) ships and spawn camping them mandatory to win? Why Why Why I have almost never seen a game with more missed potential.
@@fattyhacker5745 oh nice! There are so many great adventures, I see you like so many genres and there are a lot of really good and niche experiences to find
Great video. Good stuff great selection. IMO the work is wordy, it feels like you run through your script then use a thesaurus to pluck out the common words. And that feels a bit unnatural. Keep it up tho. Subbed
I mean it all depends on preference but I would personally disagree because there are many ways to categorize best games but since there isn’t a story it’s just a fun game there’s nothing wrong with that I just personally wouldn’t rank it higher than like c tier

I have played them and loved them!
Great vid, and excellent games.
Hey turns out my 2023 list had many similar titles:
Dead Cells : agree on the story.
I see Hollow Knight In S tier - I press like
I played it when I bought a new laptop and got a free month of Xbox game pass. It truly is a masterpiece.
If you liked katana zero you should definitely give hotline miami 1 and 2 a try
you should play the begginners guide, 2 hours walking simulator great dialogues topics and lessons
(from the same guy that made stanley parable)
Man just hearing To The Moons ost makes me start to cry
you should play the blasphemous DLC it has the best bosses i ever played in metroidvanias
ALSO you CAN unlock fast travel in blasphemous you just gotta donate 20K points might be a lot for the beguininging but understandable around the middle half of th e game
Bro play Baldur’s Gate 3. Even if its not your style of game. It wasn’t mine either. Just try it out. Its the best game in years
Definitely on my list for 2024!
Very good video, but u need to check the audio: founded your commentary a bit too low -and drops even lower at some points- compared to your other videos.
I appreciate the feedback!
I hope you try out the deus ex games in some time. it has the best level ive see in any game ever, and the skill tree in the most recent installment will make you feel like a god by th le end of the game (if you picked the correct upgrades)
I envy your ability to start a game and actually see it through.
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback
good video ma friend
I disliked everything in S tier but enjoyed Undertale and Factorio.
Ps. for a tierLIST video you should bring the list up about a 100x more imo
Fair list
My guy play more games in one year than my entire life.
on mobile i made it to five boss cells before switching from android to iphone and losing all my progress so when i got the game on steam i won on my first run💀
Oh, and turn up the volume, because the music in incredible.
overrated
You should really try elden ring, its amazing. It won game of the year over god of war so you can already tell its a great game.
Played it and loved it!
@@fattyhacker5745 Thats awesome! Are you including it in your 2024 ranking list or have played it a long time ago? Either way, dlc drops in a week so, super exited for it!!!
@@DavidSantos-st6fi I played it back in 2022 closer to when it came out, although im strongly considering replaying it at some point with the dlc
@@fattyhacker5745 I'm thinking on doing so too. I guess if I were to recomend any other games to you, I would say little nightmers, oneshot, portal, cuphead, lies of p, neon white or any other fromsoft soulslike.
Two game recommendations: Outer Wilds and Disco Elysium
Already played outer wilds and loved it! Disco elysium definitely on my wish list
@@fattyhacker5745 Holy shit Disco Elysium is one of the all-time greats
So im not the only one who played hollow knight in 2023
You should play Ratchet and Clank 2002
Thank you for the suggestion!
@@fattyhacker5745 thank you for all you do for this community fattyhacker!
great
gud vid
fun fact: if you say “fun fact” everyone will read it
fun fact: the likes proved you wrong
@@Jedi7969 fun fact: you still read my comment
@@Jedi7969 he's not wrong, you are
I really liked the video but I have to mention that you gave up on Sea of Thieves really quick.
Why
Why
Why
I have almost never seen a game with more missed potential.
Not even a Nintendo game? You sure have to found new adventures
Didn't have a switch but BOTW will be on my 2024 list!
@@fattyhacker5745 oh nice! There are so many great adventures, I see you like so many genres and there are a lot of really good and niche experiences to find
Great video, however you definitely made it hard on yourself by choosing a list of almost all S+ classics to play 😂
Great video. Good stuff great selection. IMO the work is wordy, it feels like you run through your script then use a thesaurus to pluck out the common words. And that feels a bit unnatural. Keep it up tho. Subbed
have you played signalis?
Not yet, but it's on my wish list, heard it's great
yeah it’s quite beautiful imo. Especially if ur fan of old survival horrors
oh okay so u played all S tier games got it
you should play outer wilds please play outer wilds, outer wilds
Slay the Spire is the best game out of all of these by far…
its just a card game with no such story
I mean it all depends on preference but I would personally disagree because there are many ways to categorize best games but since there isn’t a story it’s just a fun game there’s nothing wrong with that I just personally wouldn’t rank it higher than like c tier
@@Uriel_BestGirl I wouldn’t rank your brain higher than 70 IQ tier
@@anubistv1154 ok I would agree 👍 also you are clearly a child if you’re really going attempt to come after someone like that so I see no reason in arguing with you 🤷🏻♂️
There’s zero argument if you honesty think slay the spire is C tier… all you deserve are insults
The list is fine but Valheim being in S tier is actually the most delusional and criminal thing ever LMAOOOO
Nah Valheim was brilliant
You didn't play Heroes of Might and Magic III, so fix that right now, or I will comment a mean nmoceegubhrt
Maybe next year 😅
