I don't see it as "depth". It's not just backups, it's the starters' very poor production at 1B, 2B, 3B. LF Verdugo has been below average and the catching is still a little questionable.
I called it when we got off to a fast start, people assumed we were gonna runaway with the division str8 to da title but i said expect in typical Yankee fashion to hit a wall.. I didnt think it was gonna be this soon.
Only crazy fans thought they would run away with the division. Even during that hot stretch the Os have always been 2-3 games behind. They are struggling right now and it’s completely fine. They have played out of their minds for the better part of 2 and a half months. Every team goes through struggles.
There has to be a drastic change in the clubhouse there's been way to many embarrassing losing streak under boone. Judge needs to call some meetings asap cause i don't see Cashman making any splash at the deadline. Cashman is obsessed with mid 30's veterans.
This is the problem with today's pitchers. They throw so hard and 1, they can't go long in games, and 2, they can't sustain it for the long term. This is why they're better off throwing a few miles per hour slower. They have to eventually become pitchers.
Not only are they throwing harder, there is a lack of finesse pitching, which is a true art! (Greg Maddox) And the pitch clock has vastly shortened the rest period between pitches.
Derek..... Remember that guy in 1990 sorrano! He played for Cleveland, he couldn't hit a breaking ball either... He used to actually put spells on his bat to hit breaking balls... That's how lost he was...... But, he did have a big HR knock in the one game playoff against the Yankees.... Tied the game up
Over the last two weeks the Yankees have a 96 wRC+ which is bad but not the reason we're losing. WE'RE LOSING BECAUSE WE HAVE A 6.92 ERA (8.05 for Starters, 5.55 for Relievers).
Yeah, I don't know if I've ever been this sure of the fact in a presidential election, I was voting for the VP as much of the President. They say that when FDR was running for his fourth term and they went to Harry Truman and asked him to be his VP, Truman said no initially because he thought the VP didn't do anything for 4 years. They just fade into obscurity. And then they told him, "No, the country doesn't know this but Roosevelt probably won't live to see the end of the year. What we're offering you is the Presidency."
These pitchers are ridiculous. They pitch every five days. I read the other day that Nolan Ryan once pitched. Complete 13 inning game, struck out 19 and threw over 200 pitches. Admittedly he was one of a kind ( if you forget Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, Whitey Ford, etc.) but the pitchers of today are pampered. Back in the day there were no relief pitchers. Today they are relieved by as many as three, one per inning. Nine innings was the norm. All we get today are excuses!
Derek, you hit the nail on the coffin with gleyber torres. Which can be said for most of the hitters. Trying to pull everything creates so many bad habits. You would think having the short porch the righties would want to drive it over there more.
Rodon is the worst yankee signing in history of the franchise dudes a bust & should have to give back a % of his $$$ per yr cause of how much he's stunk up the joint
Gil and Rodon on the skids, them and Nestor didn't pitch much last year makes you wonder what their innings limit is this year because it's def not 180. Typically you want workload (innings) to increase from year to year no more than abuot 30-40 before you start running into fatigue issues and here we are. The Yankees didn't plan on Gil being in the rotation so I'll give them that but they didn't have a plan together for Nestor and Rodon other than pray to god they can throw a lot more innings than last year.
Oswaldo bat timeing is off, need to get that fixed, his bat speed and swing should be good. Gleyber's swing got upper cut like Vope's last year, probably want to get more homerun in his contract year, with that hole, he is not that dangerous now( upper heat, slider outside could get him). Wells bat should keep his hands lower, too much distance to get to lower pitches.
Derek, don’t think you are being completely fair to wells. Not only has he not played consistently, which is tough on anyone to get in a groove, it’s especially difficult on a rookie who needs the reps. He is not having any worse a year than Volpe did last year and most of us could see the potential and gave him the space to get better, which he most definitely did this year. Let’s give wells consistent playing time along with Rice and Cabrera, for now, and see what we really have. Even a big trade isn’t going to get us new guys at catcher, 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and some bullpen arms. We are going to have to rely on these young guys and see what we have for next year.
Getting the train back on track is 1 thing but regardless of whether we win 100 games and win the AL East that doesn’t change the fact that I’m the playoffs our bullpen will be a major problem aswell as who is going to get the hits in big situations other then Soto & Judge…..nobody! Either they make changes now and figure out those problem areas or forget about going deep into Oct. Yankees are exactly like the NYR built to win a lot of regular season games and maybe win a playoff series but definitely not to win Championships.
Some folks might want to chill and not freak out. Who could think we'd maintain the pace our starters were on? It's a long season, we'll make the post. Let's just relax and enjoy the Aaron Judge show.
i really think the yankees are going to come back. i have faith in verdugo , but we have to make some changes. besides judge, soto , volpe and stanton( which he will be ready by early august ) they need another good righty bat against lefties . and go get a few good bullpen guys,,,i think tommy k will improve and rodon will be rodon... eventhough he got bombed first 2 innings, ive noticed he was rodon after that.. .
I need to know what kind 9f strains A.Boone is tokin on I started to lmao when I saw JD Davis was coming from the A's what's left of his career those days are numbered 😡
Cashman loves home run hitters and flame throwers. His roster construction is usually loaded with them, young or old. He is wrong. He has been wrong and has learned nothing from his mistakes. Hal has not learned Cashman is the problem. I'm stupid and even I know the problem. How dumb are you Hal is the real question? How's it working out so far? Every season same ol same ol eventually. Players wear down, pitchers flame out. Truth hurts, feel the pain Hal?
@@haitiyouyou76 He has pictures of Hal doing silly things with chickens I suspect. That or Cashman has something on the entire Steinbrenner family. Nothing less makes sense.
This is why I decided not to follow the Yankees this year. Has anybody noticed this. This is the 3rd time I’ve seen this team going from crushing every one. To multiple injuries and going to complete shit with a snap of a finger. Does any other team do this is my ? I haven’t seen this in other teams. The ups and downs is annoying. Luv the Yankees. But if cashman hired a whole new training staff cause all of the injuries and boom different make a difference. Very suspicious
Derek, it sure seems the Yanks are fielding a bunch of (relatively) unknown players, where are these guys coming from?? And look at the batting averages, pathetic really...three to five averages below 200!! You name other players on other teams are available, but this team is going nowhere as they are but down. Really sad.
Someone got to let the dogs out, but I think this club could use a break so hopefully they bounce back after the all star break; otherwise, it's time to DFA, trade, or call up players
I was in TOR… it was tough. Those 3 Blue Jay HRs looked incredible. Towering. Oswaldo’s bear hander was great… Rice looked ridiculous letting that ball hit the bag in real life… hopefully we can turn this thing around.
Depth was & is a concern but can still be addressed.
