Maryland's decision in 2012 to leave the ACC for the B1G looks better every minute.
Outside of the fact they will never win it, it is probably the biggest galaxy brain move, up there with Missouri joining the SEC
Maryland hasn't exactly prospered in the B10.
@@elliottcrews4997 It depends on your definition. Since joining in 2014, only Ohio State and Michigan have won more overall B1G titles than UMd.
@@VincentPaterno-hs2fv 😀✌️
@@elliottcrews4997 but they haven’t been left behind either
The ACC is done. Several schools will follow FSU’s lead. Guarantee they’ve all had behind the scenes conversations and have landing spots secured once this is over.
The ACC will survive as a Tier 2. The ACC was done as a peer major when FSU wasn't committed to efforts to get a new deal with ESPN, was done when it became clear that those efforts would fail, and was publicly clearly done with the +3.
@@tarheel7406just stop ACC is only tier 1 because of basketball HOWEVER UNC is going to get a upgrade it’s a known secret in B1G alumni/fanbases UNC is a top priority only behind ND then UVA so SEC and B1G gonna fight for UNC FSU is not gonna be courted the way they think they are it’s either Big12
Or they will get invited but not get full share of TV money
Pierce,
You’re such a clown. Think FSU is going down this road without a place to go? This has been in the making for a long time. Why hell would the Big 10 want Virginia or North Carolina? Other than academics.
@@npierce14 Sorry, typo. corrected to survive as a Tier 2.
@@tarheel7406 It's already a Tier 2. FSU clearly outlined that in their filing. LOL! It was already referred to as a "so-called P5" a couple of weeks ago. I mean how much more evidence do you need?
That 2027 one way option is a bombshell... I had no idea that was a thing...
I also head during the call that the GOR and Media deal is only viewable within the ACC HQ.... meaning the schools that are a party to these things can't even read the documents in their entirety at their whim.
This wiill drag out, but neither party wants a trial/ court decision. The will be a $$ settlement eventually and FSU wil!
leave.
People said the same thing about the Pac-12 lawsuit and they were wrong. I think this goes to trial and there will be a judgement issued one way or the other.
Never make it to trial, ACC has too many hidden skeletons, 2027 contract and the Raycom deal which made the Swofford family even wealthier@@rreagan007
FSU is not paying anything close to that amount. FSU’s Athletic Director comes from the Big-10.
The Big-10 wants FSU and has stated as much. College athletics is Amateur Athletics and a Commissioner, the development of divisions, no polls, no bowls, no more influence by t.v. pundits, and a NFL model is coming fast.
Who said that and where? Link any reference. It's not there.
@@tessier-ashpool3462
I did. I recalled some thing that wasn’t accurate about FSU’s university president. I posted that the athletic Director came from the Big Ten. What I meant was the University President had connections given his status at Harvard among other things knowledge on how to get FSU Into the big 10 without having established its AAU status prior. For my mistake, I have been relegated to the back of the bus so to speak by the other commenters. I’ll post a link about President McCullough and it will make more sense. But no I’m not a liar.
Going from the PAC 12 lawsuit to the ACC lawsuit.
This one will probably take longer. The Pac 12 lawsuit should not have been necessary and would not have been necessary, but for G.K.
FSU doesn't need an attorney to free them of the ACC. They need a hostage rescue team.
Just shows entertainment lawyers are crafter than athletic administrators and university presidents.
One way or another, FSU is determined to exit the ACC. The law suit is a method to move the case into the courts.
Typically, judges urge the parties to try to work out some sort of a compromise rather than taking the risk involved
in leaving it in the court's hands. Look for some agreement between the ACC and FSU. As far as where FSU ends
up after that, I suspect FSU has it's ducks in a row already.
I would imagine you are correct. Judges sometimes appoint arbitrators sometimes don't they, in order for the two parties to come to an agreement?
Didn't every team sign this document in the acc
Around 7:50 y’all say this isn’t an agreement between fsu and espn. Y’all also say that the networks control the sport. Pick a lane bozos
The bottom line is that FSU has a great case. I predict they settle for around 75-100 mil to immediately leave the ACC
The answers to the competing lawsuits haven't even been filed.
Sounds like ESPN runs college sports. Beaver fan.
Does a different conference FSU get in? No
The deal is already done for us to go to thr Big Ten genius...SMDH

The GOR again as DS noted is between the ACC and the schools within it. It doesn't really matter that ESPN has a walk away opportunity in 2027. The ACC would simply negotiate a contract with another party with the GOR still intact. Also, the ACC got to the courthouse first. They filed suit against FSU the day before, making it more likely that the case will be heard in NC not Fla. So for all the hate on the ACC our lawyers ain't stupid.
You dont know Law obviously....SMDH

@@langstondah7350 What do you disagree with? But you are correct. I'm not an attorney. Are you?
@elliottcrews4997
I know that just because you go to court first in a different state from the other party who files in thier state doesn't mean your case will be litigated there. Thats up to the federal court.
FBA/B1
@@langstondah7350 that’s why I said “more likely”, not a hard and fast rule, but a slight advantage
The ACC is done. The top ACC football schools will have a landing spot and the bottom tier will have a nice home in a G5 conference.
More likely a rebuild as a Tier 2 with the BIG12.
Feb of 2025 ain't 2 years away now, its only 14 months....
ACC is basketball league.....thats whats missing
Yet still #2 in football among the then P5s going into this realignment measured by top-level success. Rather impressive in that context.
I said before it's little more than the Big East with Clemson and FSU who is great at football.

@@tarheel7406 No conference won more NCAA titles across all sports than the PAC-12 in the history of college sports. How did that work out for them?
What you just copied and pasted did absolutely nothing to sway the college football playoff committee. I didn't hear it mentioned at all today by FSU's board of trustees or their lawyers.
If you read the actual legal filing, they actually argue the opposite. They explicitly say the conference has been mismanaged relative to the B1G and SEC which not only has resulted in little value being created over the last 10 years, but with the last 3 additions, the values of the conference have actually depreciated.
Do you really think the ACC is valuable? Ask ESPN if they're going to continue the same TV deal in 2027. That's your answer. The value of anything is what another is willing to pay for it. Can you please explain what anyone will pay for the ACC at this time as long as ND is not a football member?
@@heartbreak25 "No conference won more NCAA titles across all sports than the PAC-12 in the history of college sports. How did that work out for them? "
The PAC died mostly from cultural and demo changes in the footprint. The PAC has been fading in competition lately as well. This is a rather basic observation, so won't bother with the rest.
FSU acts like the ACC doesn’t have lawyers.
College sports need a complete reset. Sad day when good schools have no chance at a championship because of tv deals
ESPN stamdd to make a great deal more money with a Big 10 team playing a SEC team verses the Big 10 playing an ACC team. That is why ESPN for weeks prior to Travis getting hurt that FSU could be left out of the CFP if they go undefeated. ACC made promises to FSU when FSU first start wanting to leave and the ACC did not deliver.
Yes, it did not matter that Jordan Travis was hurt or not. SEC commissioner whined and cried as did Saban and no sec team was being left out. Texas at #3 is a Joke, they were routed by OSU who FSU beat handily in a bowl game last year
Having listened all day, I believe that I understand many of FSU's arguments, but there are others that were mentioned that I do not understand and there are other arguments and issues that I foresee being raised that have not been mentioned.
First, I believe that I understand Florida state's unenforceable penalty argument. I also believe that I understand FSU's public policy argument. Furthermore, I believe that I understand FSU's argument that the contract was unconscionable from the beginning although a judge might wonder whether a university might employ legal counsel who should have reviewed the contract and detected its unconscionable nature. The university is not a typical party to make this argument.
Second, the arguments that I do not understand include the antitrust argument. Perhaps, I just don't understand the facts that support this argument. I also do not understand what facts might support an argument that the ACC breached its contract. I also haven't heard facts supporting a breach of fiduciary duty owed to FSU. Finally, I can't understand why the 9-year option to renew by ESPN is relevant. That option concerns a contract that FSU is presumably NOT a party. In the GOR, the ACC promises certain things to FSU, and in return FSU makes certain promises to the ACC, being the GOR. ESPN is NOT a party to the contract, and therefore any actions by ESPN are irrelevant to this Declaratory Judgement petition.
Third, not mentioned today was the fact that the ACC has already filed suit against FSU in Mecklenburg County, better known as Charlotte, NC, seeking a declaratory judgement that the contract is enforceable! Thus, we have dueling lawsuits and here is a list of issues that may well be litigated.: Venue, personal jurisdiction, subject matter jurisdiction, service of process, choice and conflicts of law, full faith and credit, the archaic concept called sovereign immunity, joinder of parties, and a plethora of equitable issues not relevant in legal jury trial civil suits.
This is a lawyer's employment act!
I for one never wanted in THE ACC after joining the big 12, but alot of people did, boy they may have ended up looking like fools, and there would have been a lot of broken WVU ❤s.
No guarantee past 2027 wild, it's over.
Yes, some people pine for the ACC - but I really appreciate WVU landing in the Big 12.
Value will be very relative at the Tier 2 level. Makes sense to me why WVU would prefer the Tier 2 new BIG12 over the likely Tier 2 rebuilt ACC.
2027 is totally irrelevant. You do understand that people who say that ESPN's deal is a "steal", and then think that ESPN will not continue to "steal" are being totally irrational. By the way, what's "over"? The people predicting the end of FBS conferences have a PERFECT record. They have WRONG 100% of the time.
