@@thepedalcollaborative Sounds like it. For reference, I'm listening through an Apollo x4 summing from stereo to mono, using Neumann Kh120's for playback. I don't usually comment on these kinds of things because it's just not my place, however I thought it was interesting how it was throwing off my ears. Anyway, thanks for the response and thanks for demoing all the great gear you do!
@@thepedalcollaborative So that's the trick with playing things back in mono. It'll help you catch phase anomalies. In this case, you're losing some of the definition behind the notes themselves and a solid heap of low end... Which the low end shift is probably what triggered me to hit the mono button in the first place. So, it's it not a perfect cancelation across the whole signql, but rather parts of the frequency spectrum being canceled out. To conclude, it may be worth seeing it there's something going on from the output of the ASC1 to your interface, whether that be effects afterwards or levels set evenly. Also, it might be worth seeing if you have the same issue with the ASC1 in true bypass. Defintely listen back on speakers and headphones if you can. Lots of fun stuff to experiment with! This is when a stereo true bypass loop switcher would be handy.
Hey there! Soooo, I have a question: I owned an R1 for some time, loved it, but was ultimately let down by its audio quality. The Slöer sounded sooo much better, quality wise. It was shocking. I bought the Mercury X a few months ago and even though I'm loving it, I feel like I don't really need all its options. Sooo, since they have revamped it, I've been considering buying a used R1 and selling my Mercury X. Do you feel like the sound quality is better now? Or, say, on par with the Mercury X? Wishing you a great weekend! Thom
Hey there Thom! I just did an A/B here at the house. Strat into JHS Colour Box V2, into the R1 Mkii and MercuryX. Could not tell a difference. Asked my partner to also weigh in and she thought they were different presets on the same pedal. I would say grab one of the newer R1 Mkii and you’ll be happy as pie :)
@@thepedalcollaborative Hey there! Thanks so much! Yeah, just sold the Mercury X and ordered a used R1, that I will update. Can't wait! :) Thanks for your advice and trying it out!!!
my favorite reverb right now on "Air" mode
Oh it’s such a good one!
I actually enjoy when you are talking through what you are doing/thinking. Great demo, as always!
I second this!
Why thank you! I'll do a deeper dive into these where I talk. This is more just exploring the sounds of the pedals!
thanks so much!
The BFR and Artifact modes are sublime..in the same league as Prism and Gravity 👽
Absolutely! Not as tweakable as the MercX but not as expensive or big either!
@thepedalcollaborative Exactly..we are lucky to have Merc X all the same..🤘
@patrickr6505 indeed!
Hmm. Something funky is going on with the stereo field there; even with the R1 bypassed. Lots of phase cancelation.
I have the ACS1 Mkii set up in stereo so my guess is what you’re hearing is from there?

@batflash oh wild! So you’re getting phase cancellation when you’re listening in mono? Have you tried in stereo with the same results?

@batflash very interesting stuff! I’ll have to dive into this more for sure and yes I just ordered a stereo loop switcher!
can you compare the mk1 and the mk2
Sad to say I do not have the Mk1 any longer 😭
Anyone else do a direct comparison?
