@@johnny9655 well yeah but their are still aspects such as mentality, staying behind the competition, increasing responsibilities, burnout or in terms of physical capabilities stuff such as arthritis or increasing eye diseases, so while yes it isn't as taxing as physical sports, their are still a lot of factors which could hinder people like Isai the older they become and the longer they play. Considering all of that you still have to admit that Isai being at the position he is still impressive. A lot old school legends of video games such as the likes of Alex Valle, Andrew G, or in the case of Smash Ken, Mew2king, Azen,KDJ etc. While Legends of their time, their is a reason why they eventually stopped staying on top. So the fact that Isai of all people can still stay on top after 24 years is something you have to appreciate.

@@AL-lh2ht the first time i realized superboomfan was a great player was after he finally managed to win one single game against isai's link, something i had literally never seen before after watching hours and hours of match footage over a period of months or years. isai then proceeded to still play low tiers even at the height of smash 64's relevance and with the strongest international competition, and would somehow get top 3 regularly while doing this. famously i remember a commentator relating a story of superboomfan declaring that he 'doesnt lose to isai's low tiers anymore.' i believe that was the tournament where he lost to isai's mario.
i dont want to say more bc it's kind of corny to do long youtube comments lol. needless to say i disagree with you. in all of fighting games i've never seen a player who has established such a giant gap between himself and the rest of the field, for such an extended period as isai

I saw this documentary when I was a kid. I think it was called insect wars. They had cameras inside this ant hill and in the ant colony there was these ants fighting to be queen. They would go around grabbing other ants and spraying them with their pheromones to make them docile and obedient. The ant that won was the one that was the most active, the most aggressive, it appeared the most lucid and like it had the most agency- this is what Isai’s pika reminds me of. You’ll always have multiple opportunities to watch high level Melee or Ultimate in 2023, but not for 64 and that’s an absolute crime considering the immense potential this game has. Pikachu actually getting to use powerful lightning moves is PEAK smash bros gaming. Amazing to see Isai doing so well after being the best in the game for so long, what a legend -- a literal legend, not one of those faux "legends" that the kids throw around like the word means nothing.

for example Superboomfan has won 3 supersmashcons, while Isai won just this one.
