- Scenes are borrowed from “Margaret” (TV Movie 2009). Lindsay Duncan starred in a fictionalised account of Margaret Thatcher's final days in Downing Street.
Ian McDiarmid: “Denis is an interesting character because he was the man at home whose job it was to help her emotionally and not put her foot in it. It was clearly a very successful marriage and Margaret always said that she could never have done it without him. I thought he would be an extremely interesting character to play and I also greatly admire the work of Lindsay Duncan who plays the woman herself.”
There are a few more brief scenes with Mr. McDiarmid in the film, but I didn't include them all. It's a great tv movie, and Lindsay Duncan is a marvelous actress, so I'd recommend watching it.

It somehow lets me imagine Palpatine in his everyday life better - well, uhm, not exactly, due to obvious reasons, but the vibe - the appearance, gestures, little movements, intonations... And, like, Ian McDiarmid just always looks like he has a 50-year plan. Even when he drinks, smokes or has a kitchen fight :)) Thank you for sharing!

Ian McDiarmid has such a cool screen presence. Every time he appears, you know he has control of the room, whether he's playing Palpatine or Denis Thatcher.
