It didn't sell well at its introductory price, they slashed the price a lot and still didn't sell well. They lost money on it and so stopped production. They didn't have that much money to bleed out. This has been known for years.
People just didn't appreicate it till it was gone, they all heard how it was a car that was trying to kill you (and for gen 1's that's true lol) and just wrote it off as some unrefined death machine, yet by the time it got to gen2 and gen3 it was more than capable as a track demon, then by the time gen5 came out it held THIRTEEN track records for a production car, most still haven't been beaten, and it still died in obscurity. Tragic really.
As a massive Viper fan, I don't want it to come back. Ever increasing emissions and regulations as well as Dodge's new plans going forward will mean that if the Viper was to ever return, it can't have the 8+ litre V10 and manuel transmission combo anymore. The Viper is timeless, created not to sell but to give Dodge a much needed image, and I fear an electric Viper will tarnish said reputation. And I don't want to hear any "Imagine if..." replies. This is real life.
It's one of those cars which looks great in almost any color. Practical reasons not to have a Viper are 1) it gets _very_ hot in the cabin, 2) seating is awkward and can be hell on the lower back, and 3) auto insurance cost will make anyone have buyer's remorse. A guy in my area has 3 Vipers, all red, one with a "KA CHOW" personalized plate. :)
I'll have to refer to this video if another person asks why the car was disco'd one more time, much to my chagrin. At first I just kept saying "no side curtain airbags" but now thanks to creators such as yourself they can get the full disclosure. Cheers!@@4WheelsChronicles
62 bucks a month to insure. I would agree it gets hot, but not overly so. Imo. I've never had any seating issues. I think that and the pedal situation is over emphasized.
I have a Gen. II & the AC definitely isn't very good but I also have a Gen. V & the AC is great in it, there's NO Comparison between the Gen. V's & any of the other Gen.'s None, handling, AC, Stereo, traction, anything you name it!
sales would have been much better if there was an automatic Viper. Manual transmissions have no place in a real performance car. No real racer wants a manual. And the costs of throwing away the slow manual trans and adapting an automatic add to an already expensive car. Especially when NOT using bias ply tires, a manual will always lose to an automatic when the light gets green. Nothing beats a torque converter launch at the drag strip.
absolutely viper is one of the best American car, but One of the problems that I don't like about the Viper is the exhaust, which is next to the door, it sometimes makes the cabin feel hot and if you're not careful, your feet can burn. no wonder some owners modify their car's exhaust to the rear.
That just depends on what Gen. model you get, they're not all side exhausts & the Gen. V is but it doesn't get hot at all & the AC is Great! I know I have one & a Gen.II which the AC is not that good but the exhaust does goes all the way out back
Another factor sales decline was crazy dealer markups and horrible gas milage I used to know someone who own a viper and on a good day with the gas saver option the car came with on a heavy traffic weekday he would get 7 miles to the gallon. Most people even wealthy people don’t want a car with horrible gas mileage. The v10 on the viper are a very thirsty power-plant that requires you to own a few gas stations.
I'd add mismanagement from the marketing team into the equation too. I think they missed the mark and went after the wrong audience with the Gen V Viper.
@@NA-en7kz Good point. In my humble opinion I will say yes and no. I remember in early 2001 or 2002 one of the local dodge dealers in my area that’s no longer around it closed down over 15 years ago had one on the lot for a long period of time just sitting in the dealer because the dealer most likely did not budged on their price eventually they most likely did because about maybe 9 months to a year later they sold the car for way less than m.s.r.p. If my memory serves me right I think that dealer was asking somewhere around the ball park for that Viper 147,000 dollars in early 2000s for a Viper that was not worth that during that time. I got to see that Viper up close and personal more than once because at that time my Father was trying to buy a truck and the dealer would not work with my father as far as deals go. They were greedy after all there no longer around.
In America straight line Drag Racing trumps twisty Road Racing or Track road Racing most of the time. The Demon, and even Redeye wide bodies cannot handle the twisties like a Viper can.
Thanks for watching!!

So disappointed this car was discontinued. It's absolutely perfect, I can't imagine how insane a 2023 viper would be.
Finger Crossed bro for a REMAKE!!!
This car was FAR from perfection.
Now they got rid of the charger and challenger, dodge is in a situation where they can legitimately go under :/

What happened? THE PRICE! Saw a very used Viper this weekend ant the person was asking $90k, no fff…g way bud.

On the track a viper learned what the taillights of a Corvette looks like really well 😂😂😂
Great info, good video, but far too much marketing for another model and other tech. I thought it was about the Dodge Viper, not the Hellcat and Demon
Great video the dodge viper is my dream car
Oh thank u so much for the feedback

vipers are the only dodge i ever liked. i honestly believe if they figured out a way to put an automatic transmission the car wouldve survived.
An Englishman has built an MC with a Viper engine, which has made speed records.
This car the most favorite muscle car I love.Chrysler and dodge God will punish them for making this be a flop,This car is faster than a corvette
long live America's sports car - the Corvette
It will be posted soon 🙏🏻😉

more luxury and automatic transmission NOT BEING AVAILABLE helped kill it

So the demon the reason it ain't no more viper?
Well the reason is because the car doesn’t meet new safety requirements…. But 🤞🏻 in the remake!!!!
So they killed a good sports car to make a boat
It's a strange world my friend 😁

An electric viper is inevitable
Chevrolet Corvette is faster than Dodge Viper in United States
The viper failed because it became an overpriced Corvette.
