By the way. Thanks to u and only u I got to fix 70 years old outboard. Before I had no idea anything about carbs but after watching ur videos, which I think I watched all of them. I had the courage and knowledge to get into the engine, take it apart and fix it. The old 70 year old carb was no go so I ordered one online the modern carb for 12$ and adapted it on the old motor. Now it starts from the second pull and it all thanks to u! Thank u that U thank u. U have no idea how much u teach me with the vids that u put out.

Maybe somone else mentioned this. The ooze that came out of the old coil was insulation and the most likely problem was a short circuit when it gets to high voltage, not necessarily an open circuit. You cann test that with a 'hipot' high voltage insuraltion tester, but as a practical matter, replacing the part where the schmoo came out with a different cheap part is a good plan.

To be honest, I have lost track of which projects are still pending - midget car, lambo clone, E 100, 1970s sports car based on VW with ugly bumpers ... and I sometimes wonder if Mustie still has the overview.
But I'm seriously happy about every new video. His laugh when the engine starts is contagious and to me it's phenomenal that this channel manages without product placements, begging for patreon, click baiting or anything else. I think Mustie is actually having fun teaching other people. That's why I love the channel: no crap, no political message, just pure, authentic craftmanship.
Thank you very much, hats off and I hope you never stop.

For starting an engine using a drill, I use a 3/8 inch ratchet adaptor. It can be used on any extension bar to get a ratchet action. It effectively becomes an over running clutch once the engine starts.
For cleaning engines, try Simple Green, 50/50 mix with water.

Never seen a Briggs and Stratton engine idle that low and still keep running in all the years I've been fooling with them. that's a sweet running little engine. Now if you can figure out how to pick hook up one of them starter generator type contraptions you will be able to drive it at night with lights.
