    Thanks a bunch for your reviews, my friend. I am getting into hiking, survival "camping", and just general outdoor fun, and I am making many purchases for equipment based upon your reviews as well as other reputable gear guys. I live in the suburbs of Minneapolis, and our winters (and summers) can be rather extreme now and then, so I am looking forward to doing a lot of 4 season stuff outdoors. Thanks again, Luke.

    Thanks to your review, Luke, I just rec'd mine; paid $49.95 on eBay. It arrived & was in almost Pristine condition.
    It is now my go-to rain jacket, it replaces my Marmot Precip which I'll put in the trunk of my car for that just in case situation.
    Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada

    I'm looking to put a gear together because I want to start going camping/hiking this year. This jacket looks awesome, great design, and you've done a great review. I'm a female, quite short (1.54 m) and light so I need my equipment to be...well, light. This seems really good. Going to check what colors they have. If not, black is fine.

    I realize this is a bit of an older video but this looks (from your video) to be an amazing light rain jacket, something I'd love to have. However, I go to Amazon and now in 2015 reviews there are quite a few people saying that these are not at all water proof and are soaking through on a regular basis. I wonder if something has changed in their manufacturer or something, but I hesitate to purchase one now thinking something has changed. Thanks for the video though, wish I'd have bought one back in 2013.

    Great review. I'm curious if you have heard of the hunting apparel companies First Lite , Kuiu, Kryptek, or Sitka? They are doing great things and much of there stuff comes in solid colours, not just camo. They are definitely worth checking out and reviewing.

    I love these jackes.. just extremely lightweight and waterproof! mine has so ventilation holes under the sleves but it allways kept me dry (maybe a little bit sweaty)
    Just something to carry with you and completely ignore the elements!

    would you consider keeping to the rated size or sizing up (considering layering up with a shirt and fleece underneath)?
    Also, since the review was from back in 2014, would you recommend another jacket with similar performance?

    Nice review luke... little pricey for my budget. I just went on my first snow backpacking trip in So Cal. It rained for the first mile. Had the marmot precip kept me dry only 60 bucks. If I had the money I would've bought the minimalist. Everything I buy for backpacking is expensive because i'm a XXL. Lucky you luke. Small size much cheaper.

    I have this jacket and I love it!! But when comparing it to other 300-500 dollar jackets, you also have to consider that those have the gore tex pro laminate. Which is way more durable and more waterproof compared to the minalist' packlite gore tex which is of course already extremely waterproof but also why it's cheaper. :)

    • @server1ok
      @server1ok 6 років тому

      the 3 layer Gore tex is more durable, thus more waterproof if you go on an expedition for a couple of months

      It is. I live in Vancouver and we get more rain than any other type of weather. Along with that comes wind. This jacket is not warm so if its chilly, layer up underneath and this jacket will keep you dry. I also own the rain pants. They work just as well.

    It is not waterproof, it wets through in a steady downpour. Great as a shell for alpine skiing, though.

    I wish the minimalist jacket for females had the same design. I looked on their website and it misses the top left front pocket, and the right bottom pocket is not as large as the on you have. So sad. Tempted to buy an S size of the male version but it will probably be much too large for my size. Also the website doesn't seem to have it in yellow, which is the color I wanted.
