The sets of ancient Egypt from DeMille's 1923 "The Ten Commandments" are still buried in the sand dunes near the Surf, CA.

Why are the movie companies not required to remove all traces of their movie sites after completion?

I've been to the Field of Dreams location. We rented the house for the night, and when you rent the house , they let you go out on the ballfield for 1 hour anytime you want to at night and play a game or just walk the bases. We went in the winter time, so it was freezing , lol , but we bundled up and went out to the field at midnight , after having pizza and watching the movie in the living room of the actual house. It was pretty cool.

I will add one more site, Werfen, Austria. The town and its fortress, Hohenwerfen, were featured in the WWII movie, “Where Eagles Dare,” starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. It is WELL worth visiting!

So Hollywood can build sets but no company wants to build affordable housing?

Field of Dreams was filmed in Dubuque County, Iowa. Dubois County is in Indiana.

Popeye was a very quaint and colorful movie, as well as being a little nostalgic. I enjoyed it.

Waverly Hospital was not an insane asylum. It became a nursing home for years. We used to go there as kids in the 1970’s. I guess it wasn’t haunted then.
Waverly was a place of hope for those with TB, which was a death sentence. As they did not know what caused TB, they tried cutting edge techniques and the latest science to treat those patients.
I’ve been to the Popeye set in Malta several times. Malta is an incredible place.

Government should make Hollywood leave their filming sites like they found them. Burying them in the desert is unexceptional

It seems illegal to me that they leave these structures up for people to get hurt on or maybe they just don’t wanna look at the eyesore

Many years ago Malibu Creek State Park also was the location of a set from the original “Planet of the Apes”, “Sand Pebbles” & part of the the cliff jump scene from “Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid”! I’m sure there were other movie sets there, but these are the only ones I could locate. They are there no longer

I've visited the site of the Fugitive bus/train crash many times in Dillsboro. It's actually within the railyard there along the river, but visible from the road above.

That's some great film history. Well I suppose that while the set is making money....
    - Please have all those submerged cars from various movies fished out, if they are still there.
