I heard that one time Cliff got high on cocoa and got stuck reading this recurring story for an entire week straight.
Make a charity stream of cliff just reading the story. Making it slightly different enunciation in each iteration maybe a missed or added word or 2 but that doesn't change the story. (like using the word "asked" instead of "commanded" or dropping the number "108"), or maybe just surprise people with a new language. For an entire hour or so while Numberphile fans donate to Charity. Of course lets not torture Cliff and give him a break every now and again but when he returns he continues from where he left off.

BTW how is it possible:
Once upon I time I had a book. The book has a picture on it. The picture however was kids playing around and on a table there was the same book that I had with the same front page. How is it even possible? I think it's the same problem as adding a link to the video on the endcard.

I am a Chinese who study here in US(for 5years now). One of the first video I watched in UA-cam is numberphile. I gotta say: this is by far the most heartwarming video I have ever watched, for it reminded me of my personal tale: I am a Chinese........
Mr. Stoll's Chinese was incredible, not surprising though since he spent time teaching in China and he is always so passionate and committed.

It is pretty understandable, but I have to admit that his accent made me giggle. It's so cool that he actually speaks Chinese; I didn't believe it until I heard it! There really aren't enough people at the intersection between mathematics and languages.
That's because mathematicians have figured out how to add higher dimensions to their field of study, so that they can cross language boarders without ever actually intersecting them.

Twenty five years ago, whilst at college, I read half of a book called The Cuckoo's Egg by Clifford Stoll. I always meant to go back to it but never did. Twenty five years later I'm subscribed to a maths channel on UA-cam watching Clifford Stoll tell a looping story in Chinese. I must go back and finish that book.

J Chen It's nice that someone tries to speak someone else's language. It shows respect for the people who speak it. I'm from a bilingual country and though the vast majority speak English fluently, some incomers have a go at learning the national language, if only a bit. We don't mind if they trip up, they *tried*, and that means a lot. I'm glad you feel that way. I've never tried to learn any Chinese language. Not out of disrespect but terror! I'm sticking to boring old European languages instead ;-)

the bilingual story is as recursive as the original one. and although it can be _generated_ by iteration, the _story_ itself is recursive, because it describes concatenated events (each iteration of the text corresponds to a deeper level of the story).

John Barth's "short" story Frame-Tale (from the collection Lost in the Funhouse, published 1968) is on a Möbius strip. He includes instructions on how to cut it from the page and assemble it. It reads "Once upon a time there was a story that began Once upon a time there...". You get the idea.
I just wanted to say how damn remarkable it is for him to speak Chinese in such a conversant manner! It's not easy to learn Chinese. It is also not easy to learn scientific terms in Chinese. 他真是个天才！

This reminds me of a nursery story that my parents and grandparents would tell me until I fall asleep. I don't know how long this story has been around for, but many people seem to know the same story. it goes as follows (I'll try my best to put it in English):

I grew up in Nanjing, China. My family spent a lot of weekends on the Purple Mountain (Zi Jin Shan), and we passed by the observatory so many times. I already love this guy like my grandpa (who was also into Math), now I love him more.

From programmer's point of view, swapping languages does note make it any more recursive. If you want a story that can not be expressed in a loop you have to branch it. For example:

This can not be expicitly expressed in a loop and reqieres some form of recursion because the story includes itself twice.
Classical recursive stories like one in the video however can because they have tail call recursion (it loops on itself once, and it's the last thing it does).

We kids would listen as long as he was willing to repeat it.
