    Well the Race for World First has finally drawn to a close with Echo picking up the world first in stunning fashion and with Complexity Limit close behind in the number 2 spot. The raid itself was on the mediocre side but it produced the most nail biting and captivating race we've ever had. Today Mike talks about the race.

    Hi Everyone. Today's video was recorded yesterday before the news broke regarding the new lawsuit being brought against Blizzard hence why there is no mention of it. All of us at Preach Gaming are disgusted with the allegations - and are continually frustrated with the prevalence of this behaviour within our hobby. If you would like to hear Mike's thoughts on the situation, he discussed it at length during today's stream here: ua-cam.com/video/tlUmEiCD-QE/v-deo.html - Chris

      Hopefully Blizzard sorts itself out properly and quickly, otherwise so many people are going to jump ship. Sure, not everyone - some comments elsewhere have been somehow on the wrong side of all this. But I'm going to have to seriously consider if I'm resubbing next month. If there's not a lot of mass firings of high level management and a big display of remorse and reparations towards the victims... I'm out. Which sucks, because I love the game. And I know from their testimonies a lot of the victims loved their jobs too - just not the harassment that came with it.
      Time will tell, I suppose.

    To add on to Preach's point about folks who already know about wow might enjoy individual player streams. The raid leader's streams are perfect for those that already have a vast base of knowledge and just want to see elite players do their thing.
    Watching Limit's raid leader throughout the race really gave me personally enomous insight into how they build their raid comp and why they're doing what they do. When Limit came up and stirred up the race with adding US, I still rooted for Method. Now, once everything went down at the end of BFA, I started rooting for Echo because I love watching Gingi, Scripe, Rogerbrown etc. Them being the 'Underdogs' was such a cool feeling and seeing them take SoD World First was such a great experience and so stoked for those players. What an amazing race, with so much effort put in by production people and casters to make sure it never got dull. You would think watching a guild wipe over and over again for hours on the same part of a fight would be boring for most people, but casters really carried those parts.
    The biggest surprise for me was how many people showed up to watch. It wasn't just passionate mythic raiders, but also people who haven't even tried the raid on normal mode. Limit maximum had the most viewed hours on all of twitch during the mythic week, and the echo streams weren't far behind either.
    Hopefully the next race will happen in a period where the atmosphere around WoW is more positive, and bring more hype to the fantastic raid content WoW has to offer.

    I don't think it was the best race we've seen. It had potential, but after the 3 bosses beyond Painsmith fell over in quick succession offering little resistance I was disappointed. It felt like the bosses had the mechanics and the potential to be really cool to watch the WF guilds progress on but sadly blizzard did not tune the latter part of the raid properly for the bleeding edge so it took the wind out of my sails a bit.

    A couple of comments:
    - Regarding the toxicity; Max actually said in his stream, that he had the im,pression, that Echo didnt respect Limit. So it is not just coming from the fans,
    - I would really love the RWF streams to be a bit more educational. Do a spotlight of certain classes. What is a warrior? What stats/gear does he use? How does his skills work etc. so on the one hand, you can also make the stream interesting for newer players but also you can spice up the extremely long and boring times of back to back pulls.

    Mike, looking at the powerboost Limit had after their reset and reclear and knowing very well that Blizzard won't have a global reset, wouldn't it be the fairest option to make the RWF just a time based event? Starting the clock from the minute mythic opens in your region. So if Limit kills it in say, 7 days 10hours with all the extra gear they got they would have technically killed it first but would have to wait until all the other regions (still pre reset) either kill it faster or go over their time. In that case all guilds in all regions have an equal chance of winning, even oceanic (who are 2 or 3 days behind i guess?)

    • @artemanse1
      @artemanse1 3 роки тому

      This has been talked about a lot, but really wouldn't be a solution, since EU guilds have an advantage in strats for earlier bosses, and usually spend less pulls there. Even the world first raiders themselves think global release is the only solution, but as long as a boss doesn't die on an NA tuesday, which afaik hasn't happened yet, it's kinda fine

Great show by the guilds involved, yea i went down quick but tbh that's fine, I don't think it has to be ultra hard 4 resets or even 1 reset and you know what... I'm so relieved that it didn't in the end go to that 1 reset because we all know what would have happened. I hope Blizzard take responsibility for the thing we all know they are directly involved in even if they like to pretend that they aren't and align the server resets across regions, it's not hard, other games do it and nothing bad happens (won't say what game but yea... What I don't understand is why not do split raiding simultaneously with progression? So take 4 players from your raid, swap them out with 4 from the bench, your slightly weakened team continues through mythic progression, and those 4 players then do a heroic split to gear up. Then when they are done, then come back and 4 more go out.
    Taking even 7 hours, much less 13 to 14, during a race that might only last one reset is terribly damaging to success. Echo pulled it off because they are amazing, and their competition did it too, but they may not be so lucky next time.

  • @Kerm0

    While this was a great race and Echo definitely deserved to win, I feel like there were 2 completely different mentalities between Limit and Echo.
    Echo played the raid like power players, they looked for exploits, they used them to get an advantage and they had the time on Sylvannus to kill her before Limit. Limit tried to play within the rules of the raid, Echo tried to out game the system, and while they won I would suggest winning by bugging bosses and abusing exploits is a somewhat hollow victory.
    Having said that it is nothing against or for either teams, this is, once again, a Blizzard problem. They didn't have the time/resources to clean up the broken things that allowed Echo to pull ahead and get their earlier experience on Sylvannus.
    Still great race, but it's sad that one team played within what the raid was intended while another was just looking for bugs for an advantage.
    Great vid Prach, keep up the good content. :)

  • @maartenm.437
    @maartenm.437 3 роки тому

    I feel like 90% of the people who watched do not understand just how much better Echo played this tier. It was not very close.
    NA and EU get the same time to raid before the reset, but NA is 16 hours ahead. This is an advantage for NA, but can also be an advantage to EU as they don't have to bug test any of the earlier bosses / can copy strats. There are many factors at play here, depending on boss tuning and which region is ahead. This time however Echo was ahead for every boss since Painsmith except one (Fatescribe), and Limit did not have to bug test any bosses. Echo gave Limit a strat for KT despite Limit having a 16 hour head start. They have both the 16 hour head start and the fact that they gave away strats working against them, worst of both worlds.

    In this case though, Limit got every possible advantage and still lost.When Limit got their 0,4 % wipe, it was on their last few hours before the reset. To compare that to the EU reset window: it would've been the same for them if they got their wipe 16 hours later, at 3 AM CEST on Wednesday. Limit would have already gotten their reset at that point and would be well into their reset (10 AM their time) and be doing heroic splits for gems.
    There's a reason Echo killed it in 40 fewer pulls, without getting the reset gear.
    You're free to be biased to one of the guilds, but at least be fair enough to admit when you got heavily outperformed. Echo lost heavily to Limit in Ny'alotha, Limit lost heavily in Sanctum.

    I watch gingi and max and love both their streams and points of views on the world first race both are amazingly entertaining in their own ways! I typically dont read their chats but I had a glance at them hearing all this and it seems so childish like literal children typing lol I dont need the chat to enjoy the race and probably wont ever so good entertainment for me always :)

    I can't think of it as the best race up to now, due to how disappointing the tuning of the raid dungeon was. Painsmith, now that all is done, seems more like an omission from the developers' part rather than an intentionally extremely hard encounter. If the rest of the bosses were progressively harder, with Sylvanas being a few steps ahead even; making every one of the latter half of the encounters a major accomplishment; that would have made for an amazing race. Having said that, the race itself, with its ups and downs, and the way streaming allows us to follow, was very enjoyable. And of course the top guilds are at such an otherworldly level of performance, inside and outside of the raid, it's almost overwhelmingly impressive.

    Any comment on the healing situation Mike? You mentioned it when you were talking of problems that tier and I'd like to hear a video on this topic. It's a weird situation to be in where only 2 healing specs are worth it.

    • @PendlayRoe
      @PendlayRoe 3 роки тому

      It's normal. In the world first race, even a 0.1% difference in spec performance means some specs are left in the dust. Of course it is not that balanced right now lol, but the result would be the same.

    The most heartbreaking thing for me was when Limit has the absolutely amazing pull- gets an insane 76.8%% push into P3... And then Nori DCs. Was easily a kill

    The best race so far. I agree with the player streams. As a Priest/Pala main I sat in Zaelia&Jeath’s stream. To watch their pov and have most likely other priest/pala mains who will help answer questions if the streamer cant :)

    I feel like you completely ignored the shard of domination part of the gearing when talking about splits. split raiding can only do so much when you have the pure rng non tradeable item that has such an influence on character power. All grats to echo who I rooted for in the great push, hope limit wins the next race for world first.

    I thought the toxicity section was going to be about people flaming the moonkins for being dead for 90% of limit’s progression. What a shame that flaming was. Anyone can make mistakes and be dead 90% of the raid. Doesn’t mean it’s okay to flame the trashcans.

    Thanks for keeping the title positive. So many people jump on the negative click-bait bullshit. Had to unsub from a few. Criticize Blizzard for everything that is wrong, but this RWF and this raid is not one of those things. The raid is great. They missed the mark with a few tuning knobs, but overall it's very enjoyable, and the race was great.

      Blizzard changing it mid race was absolutely horrible. Like changing the course of a race track while it's getting driven cause the organisers don't like a shorter turn than intended.

    Split raiding should be banned from RWF, if you have to rely on your viewers and followers to win then the team itself is not actually winning when gear is being funneled to them, effectively they are being boosted.

    Business-wise and cynically, this would be a real good time for Riot to step up with some news. People are both excited for raiding and wanting to leave Blizzard... Or would it seem insensitive and it's just wishful thinking on my part?

      @@aure6898 I agree that the race lasted just as long as needed. Would've been really disappointing if Limit had gotten WF right after reset..seeing how they 1-shot it..
