I thought it was me. I heard this song for the first time this past Christmas 2023. I too, thought it was a new song. Love it, never tire of it, can listen to this truth every day of the year .
I heard this song a few years ago when Marc was in the band called Downhere. The beauty of the lyrics is truly the gospel message to music. One of my all-time favourite Christmas songs.
I heard you on the Michael W Smith Christmas show on TBN. I am an 87 year old widow. You brouught me tears of joy. God has given you such a wonderful singing gift. Thank you for being faithful to sharing it with the world and especially with me. May God bless you exponentially in the future!

It’s April 2022 and I’m listening to the beautiful words of this song and can’t stop crying. Not only is Mark’s voice impeccable but God’s spirit uses both lyrics and his voice to speak to our hearts. Thank you for reminding me this morning what Jesus did for me. I’m forever grateful!
Just heard this on KLove last night and came running to look for it. Best Christmas song I've heard in years. And by the greatest voice of our generation??? yeah, I think so.
I've found covers of this beautiful song in about a dozen different languages! 😍 Ukrainian, Mongolian, Filipino, Spanish (Marc has actually released a Spanish version), and more!
I just learned about this song this past Christmas. I had no idea Marc had written it. Thank you Marc! It's beautiful! It truly tells the Gospel story. Your song has become one of my favorite Christmas songs.
Wow. I can’t believe this is my first time hearing this song now in 2022 and haven’t heard it before. It’s now like 13 years old. Such an amazing song. God bless Marc and his band much more!
Thank you for using your gift of song that God has blessed you with to inspire others to continually think of Him. Your voice really is like an angel praising our King.
He sounds so much like Freddie Mercury. I was decorating my tree a few years ago and had klove on and heard this. I honestly thought it was queen. I'm so happy there's a Christian with that same voice quality!
I think so too. A few years ago, I played this song to my husband (he is blind) and he described Marc’s face to me 😳 I was like “how??” He answered, “well it is easy, he sound kind of like Freddy M so his facial features must me somehow alike too” 🤗 We LOVE Marc!
I’m 26, but when I was 19 I was working on a double decker tour bus, and we were taking people to see the Honolulu Christmas lights. A man and his family were on my bus, and since I had a mic they wanted to sing a Christmas carol. I started to think okay, like jingle bells, and he said no I want to hear How Many Kings from Downhere. I was shocked, it’s not every day you meet a Christian that also knows that song, which happened to be my favorite song, I listen to it all year round. Anyways it was an even better night that night I worked, because we were singing how many Kings. Thank you Marc for sharing and resinging this song. It brings us closer to our Heavenly Father. God Bless you! - Moana ( that’s my real name!)
This video reminds me why this is one of my favorite songs. I love this live acoustic version. I saw you live when you were with Downhere and in MN about 10 years ago or so and loved your music. Since then, it has been so neat to watch all of the blessings God has poured down on you with all of your work with Queen. Your voice naturally lends itself to Freddie Mercury's, which is amazing in itself, but the ability to do all of the vocal acrobatics and all of the musical nuances...not to mention your piano skills. Truly amazing. When I first saw your "one take" of Bohemian Rhapsody video, I don't think I pulled my jaw up from the ground for about a week! It wasn't until I watched a reaction video of it from a vocal coach that I even consciously realized that you were also playing all of the parts that the other instruments would have been playing. Anyway, I pray for continued blessings for you and your family and hopefully someday I might get to see you live again!
So much emotion in this song, I just feel Jesus around me when i listen to it. Brings on the tears everytime. Marc your songs warm my heart and soul so deeply felt.
“How many gods have poured out their hearts, to romance a world that is torn all apart?! “ 💗💗💗 Only one, the Most High God!! 🙌🏾 😭😭😭 gets me all the time!!
I remember when this song first came out I told my dad "that's freddie's voice" all these years I'm so glad that there were people who heard the same thing that I heard.
I wonder how many people knew about Marc for the queen songs, but now are praising the Lord when searching about his worship songs, God works in very different ways

still my favorite song, after all these years. wish I could see again the radio interview where you guys[ Downhere ] were crowded into the studio and played this. that was the first time I heard How many Kings. Marc Martel's voice only gets better. It's not just for Christmas.

Merry Christmas 2022! This is one of my all time favorite Christmas songs ❤❤ This Chorus gives me chills. Thinking about all God has done for me. Thank you God for your Son, Jesus. 'Cause how many kings step down from their thrones How many lords have abandoned their homes? How many greats have become the least for me? Just heard this on the radio for the first time, and as soon as the first words came out of his mouth, I said that has got to be Marc Martel! What a wonderful song.
When I first heard this song on our Christian radio station at Christmas in about 2009, I flew out to buy the CD. Listen to the whole album if you haven't already....P.S. Downhere is Canadian 🇨🇦🎄
I love this song with all my heart! Saw Marc live in December at the Lowell Ma Michael Smith Christmas concert. Marc sang this and my heart melted. Especially when I heard him tell the story of how he wrote this song, and it being his father's favorite song by him. So special ♡ Simply Amazing!

This classic (yep, it's a classic now) just keeps getting better with each performance. Thank you for putting such an incredibly magical message of love to song.
While in hospital learning to walk a Godly male therapist told me about Down here. Ty Jesus that I learned 2 walk 4 the second time. Roman's 8 28. 2 God be all the glory forever and ever amen.Selah
I find it amazing that a performer puts his soul into sometime and people have to post criticism saying things like I like his “ real “ voice better ... why not just take it and enjoy the artistry rather then pontificate on what your preconceived conception of what you think his “real voice “ is . I think mark know what his voice is better then anyone .
I hate when I read for him to not forget his roots, etc. I think he has his relationship with God and that's none of our business or judgement. I don't think touring has made him a heathen BUT if it had, as Christians, our job isn't to judge and scold. One Great man has that job, and that's it. My personal opinion is God blessed Marc with an amazing gift for a reason. His voice soothes many be it gospel, Queen, or anything in between. Sit back and enjoy without thinking he has "lost his roots" or "forgotten where he came from." Life is a lot less stressful when we stop trying to tell people what their road is. Each journey is unique. Now, this song? Simply beautiful. Thank you Marc. Hope to see you again. xo
👏👏👏👏👏👏 I agree. I am an atheist but his voice makes me happy and makes me want to sing, even when he sings songs with a religious content (which by the way are very beautiful). This happens because, regardless of the content, a beautiful voice and a beautiful song are good for the heart. Marc had a wonderful gift from nature that everyone can appreciate, believers and non-believers.
Marc has said in a few interviews that touring with Queen's music is giving him an opportunity to interact with people who would have likely not stepped inside a church building... while a lot of Downhere's audience were already primarily churchgoers. To say that people can't be a witness outside of church buildings and only when singing Christian-based lyrics seems completely counterintuitive.
@@ThatllShowEm If you are not a believer, you not only don't go to church but you don't even listen to religious music (I'm talking about modern, pop music, not the great classics). I didn't know Downhere and Marc for this very reason. And also because in Italy sacred music has no market outside the religious environment. Only at Christmas does something pass on TV or on the radio, but usually they are always the same classics, perhaps recorded in new versions and by already famous artists. Otherwise you have to go and look for dedicated channels. But I repeat, if you are not a believer you do not go there. I realize that it is a ghetto reasoning, but a person who does not ask himself the problem of faith, does not think that there can be music dedicated to the subject, that this music can also be very pleasant to listen to and that its authors and who sings are absolute talents.
@@lucianaciolfi And this is why it hurts my heart to read comments where "other Christians" assume that Marc has wandered away. No, not wandering, but out looking for more guests to sit at the table and dine together. Beautiful music does not need to be isolated from others, but shared.
