Seventeen is one of the Kpop industry's very first self-produced idol groups, this means that the members of Seventeen are the ones that create everything themselves, with help and advice from Pledis Entertainment's choreographers, songwriters and rap producers when needed. But the majority of everything you see and hear is created by the members and the professionals are only consulted or asked to assist to bounce ideas off of and to finetune things, etc. When they debuted Pledis Entertainment was a really small company that had almost no money, and Seventeen had to learn how to make do with what they had a lot of the times. That's one of the reasons why Seventeen became a self-produced group, because it saved the company money if they didn't have to pay songwriters, producers, choreographers, etc. to come up with everything for them, and it just so happened that they had some really talented members who were excellent at songwriting, choreographing, and producing, etc. Seventeen was instrumental in Pledis' success. Similar to how BigBang pretty much made YG Entertainment what it is today, Seventeen was the group that played a large part in preventing Pledis from going bankrupt. The songs in order of performance in their Killing Voice are: "Adore U," "MANSAE," "Pretty U," "Oh My!" "A-TEEN" "Snap Shoot," "Run to You," "Don't Wanna Cry," "Home," "Our Dawn is Hotter than Day," "Darl+ing," "CLAP," "Left & Right," "HOT," and "Very Nice." Mansae doesn't really have a clear meaning, it's more of a cheer that you say in Korean when you are happy, similar to "hooray" in English. One of the reasons they chose "Very Nice" as their encore song is because it is one of their most popular songs, and it is what has really made them famous. You can hear TV shows and commercials all over the place in Korea using this song. And on top of all that it was wrote, composed and choreographed in part by them, so they are all reaping the rewards. :D For example, the majority of the songs you just heard were written by Woozi, who is the leader of the vocal unit, with the help of the rest of the vocal unit -- Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan. Hoshi, who is the leader of the performance unit (dancers), most often creates the group's choreography along with input from the other members of the performance unit -- The8, Jun and Dino. And S.Coups, who is the leader of Seventeen and the leader of the hip-hop unit, usually writes the rap sections with help from the other members of the hip-hop unit -- Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon. They are so hands-on with everything they do that some of the members have even directed, produced and edited a few of their MVs. Seventeen's name comes from the fact that they have 13 members + 3 sub-units (Vocal unit, performance unit and hip-hop unit) + they come together as 1 group = 17. Their fandom name is Carats -- like Seventeen carat diamonds. 💍 And their symbol is a diamond. To find 13 young men, who really didn't know each other before becoming a group, that are so multi-talented is impressive. And the fact that they are constantly able to come up with hit after hit and maintain one of the top spots in the industry all on their own, makes them even more mind blowing. Something you should also be aware of is that Seventeen are known for their choreography and their dance practice videos, so if you ever watch their MVs, I recommend you combine your reaction with their dance practice videos. They are nicknamed "The Theatre Kids of Kpop," because they are so good at telling a story through their dance. Therefore, in order to really see what makes them extra special, you need to see their dance practice videos.
Just FYI they are basically all-rounders - they can all sing (even the rappers and dancers), they can all dance (incredibly hard choreo that they sing through), and they can all rap. The Vocal Unit warms up by rapping, for instance. The short guy in the middle is Woozi, the main producer. He's only just turning 27 but has already won Best Producer at an Asian awards show - beating established KPop producers. He's known in the industry as a genius, cranking out hit after hit with input from the other 12. They record in Chinese and Japanese too. As you can tell, most of their recent songs have some English lyrics too.
Others listed the songs for you. I just want to say that all the songs titles were in the subtitles. It could be confusing though. I'm glad you have enjoyed Seventeen. They are amazing musicians and pretty great people too.
32:45Just in case nobody's explained it yet, it's what they do on their concerts. They say their goodbyes and pretend like it's over and then come back on the stage for the encore and the encore song is always 'very nice', the last song on this video. That's why they pretended to leave and then came back saying 'we can't leave without performing this!'
Ah ok. Nobody explained that to me. Thank you. I was confused when it happened lol It was amazing to watch. They really got me lol I will be uploading reaction videos to their MV'S soon. Right now I'm uploading EXO MV'S. When im done with them, I will be posting Seventeen MV reactions. Be on the lookout for them soon. Thank you for being a part of the React With Paul Family!!!!!
you can understand them, just read the subtitles, it isn't that hard, they don't need to speak english to know their lyrics, also, don't compare groups, they're all great :)
I wasn't trying to compare the groups. Yes I believe they're all amazing. The only thing I was trying to say was that in the EXO killing voice video I didnt really like the first song, but in this one i did enjoy the first song. I do apologize if you felt like I was comparing the groups. That wasn't my intent. Thank you very much for your feedback. Its always greatly appreciated when one of my React With Paul Family members expresses their views. Thank you once again for watching. You're awesome!!!!
15:43: His name is Vernon, his mom is American and his dad is Korean, that's why he doesn't look Korean. 27:08: The song name is indeed "Clap". Thank you for reacting to Seventeen. I hope to see you reacting to them more in the future.
glad you enjoyed seventeen, they're amazing! subscribed to see your future reactions to them! also Vernon the member you pointed out is half Korean half American which is why he looks a bit different than the others but he was actually raised in Korea so he's more in touch with his culture overseas , also Joshua the member who did the intro for Darling is American as well hence his fluent english, he is 100% Korean but was actually American raised ( LA ) ! They also have two members who are Chinese :) you should do a seventeen guide someday im sure it would answer more questions you might have down the road on this journey! 😌
If you liked every single song you should definitely watch their performances and dance practices, they’re super cool! A few others to listens and watch: Super, Thanks, Ima, Fallin Flower, Pinwheel, Call Call Call, Anyone, _World, Headliner. Apart from their impeccable and impressive vocals, their dances are really creative, executed to perfection, they’re nicknamed “synchronising kings” for a reason. Enjoy your Seventeen journey! There’s many more gems where that came from!
