  • Over a year since the last update, here the 2.0 update
    It includes new features such as the ability to generate new appearances of minions.
    The video doesn’t include all the new features of the update, there are more!
    The UI has also been revamped and is more intuitive

    I'm glad to see this game getting some love. One of my favorites from when I was a kid. I wish JC2 would have kept the same formula.

    This is so awesome!! I love that there's such a great mix of randomized challenge, randomized aesthetic appearance, useful improvements to the game, fascinating revival of removed beta features and then also just sheer funny voices for the joy of it! It feels like everyone can find their own ideal mode for whatever they like most about randomizers!

    So, I just tried to use your extractor, it worked, and now I saw you also made a randomizer. Nice work. Looks really good.
    Since you know how to access the files and edit them, have you found out why the boss monsters (Tuturis, Seterian, Delfanel, Cushidra) can't be used by the player when hacked? Is it just a flag that can be changed or is it hardcoded?
    I tried to access the files today and I have a hard time accessing the different file formats. I can't find out where the minion data is stored ... any hint? ^^' Hex editors and text editors are all just giving me gibberish

      Hello,
      The main issue that I know is that minion and boss models are structured differently, all minion models contain 5 growth sizes that other models don't have and the game will interpret wrong values for them.
      I don't know if there are other problems than that (considering not using the merge system which would break the game due to model incompatibility)
      Minion data are stored in DATA/MODEL, for example Arpatron is ALPA.MDL

      @@meos3446 If you just hack all the 48 Merge Slots and the posture into one of the boss minions' ID's, it will crash the game when trying to use them in battle (doesn't matter if summoned by Levant or used in Multiplayer). Merging of course crashes. If you try to view Tuturis for example it will show only it's ribcage properly, but after a few seconds the music will break and shortly after this, a game crash occurs.
      That's why I wondered about a player/cpu flag. The JC1 community wondered about this mystery many years, hence why I wanted to access the files.
      I cannot seem to make anything out of the .MDL files though, and I'm not that deep into Hex editing that I know to search for which address for which data in there.
      The bosses can summon their minions properly, so there must be a way the player could do this, too.
      I mean, Levant doesn't have growth sizes either, and he can be in-battle without any problems. ^^'

      ​@@PinkP0nyPr0ducti0n5 If I have to guess I don't think it's a about a flag but rather of a function used, there are probably 2 functions, one for opponent which reacts by ID, and one for you that will interpret the file as a regular minion. (This is just a guess, I've never looked)
      .MDL files are in a proprietary format, there's not much to do other than debugging in real time to try to understand how the game uses them.
      I'm sorry for not being very useful 😅, it's an unknown part for me too but I admit that it would be cool if one day it were possible!

      ​​@@meos3446 The function would not explain why the game doesn't do the same for Minion (Dark Arpatron from the dream fight) or the minions from the Poacher. You can actually use their posture and Merge Slots.
      If you use their own posture, it will be a glitched model which extends some polygons wider out than others. But you can actually use them as player, just their models will be glitched when used by the player.
      For these, this can be circumvented though, if you just use another Medium Dragon Posture like Arpatron and just use the skin from Minion. The poacher monsters can easily be cloned from the same looking minions like Spiral.
      Apart from this, Minion actually has another animation for it's Horn Special Attack. It sidesteps before attacking, rather than hovering to the enemy.
      If your theory is correct, then there have to be 3 functions. The player check for regular minions, the ai-only check by ID, and a third one which can be used by both parties.
