I changed my shocks, sway bars, & added the steering control. What a huge difference. Also added insulation to the floor, doghouse & firewall...much quieter. Better breathing air filter, better flowing exhaust, & ignition module made a huge difference in performance, plus gained 1.5g-2.5 mpg. Overall these changes made the vehicle much more fun to drive long distances.
Want to thank you for all the great videos and stories . We used to have a Class C and I did everything I could to reduce road and engine noise and squeaks . But after 7 years we sold it to a nice young couple with 2 kids . I had learned about Roadtrek Class Bs many years ago and had been wanting one for some time . From my point of view it is better in almost every way . Ours is a 1997 19' Popular . The ride and handling along with not needing to tow a car makes it much more relaxing . It takes a little to get used to but we love it . With a 35 gallon gas tank we don't have to look for gas until about 400 miles . If you ever get the chance to try one out I recommend you do . I will be following along . Thanks again !
Nikki, Just wanted to say we just purchased a 2005 windsport rv and it is a gas engine just like yours except ours is an 8.1L Chevy engine on a workhorse chasis with a 6 speed Allison automatic transmission. At 62MPH the engine only turns at 2000 RPM's and it's whisper quiet. The doghouse is always cold, even on a hot day you never feel any heat and it sure don't take 40 seconds to get to 55 mph, my guess would be about 20 seconds. The 8,1L GMC workhorse has endless power and it's very good on fuel. We love it and I really don't want to trade it for a new one lol... Can't beat the old stuff.
Great video as usual. We are going full time in 2017 and your stuff has helped prepare us well. It's always exciting for us when you post new videos. We rush to the TV as a family to watch them as soon as they pop up.
I can't believe you captured me getting out of my Tahoe in Veneta when you were stopped at the lights. I know it was me because it's the parking spot I pull in and I had my white hat on. Also, it was my normal going to the grocery time for dinner shopping. What are the changes, amazing ~ this is my cue to play Mega Bucks!
I was hoping you were stopping at Honeyman State Park south of Florence. what a great park. Sounds like squeaks and rattles are much better. I was impressed w the reduced engine noise. It is a simple fix and wonder why the manufacture has not done that a long time ago. Have fun.
Glad you are satisfied with the fixes. By the way, I recently saw you guys in a TV show called "Going RV". Having seen you so much on UA-cam, I thought it was funny, but you said all the right things. Good show!
Only comment would believe: 1 noise is more than enough. Direction that all rv's will need to improve on, as a way of development.. Plus the problem on driving the wrong side of the road. Love your video's can't get enough Cheers
+smacdiesel It's awesome! I wish they would have sprayed it all over the coach. If you want the details we include links on our site: www.gonewiththewynns.com/gas-rv-squeaks-rattles-engine-noise
+Gone with the Wynns That's why I mention on your other videos for Fleetwood to do under the floors in the front cab area, this helps with the road noise coming up thru the floors
I was inspired by you guys to put my 2 cents in on gas v diesel. I even gave you a shout out and link to your part 1of your Gas Experience. One day I am hoping to live on the road, too. I just have to convince my wife and that is not an easy task.
excellent report, and I'm glad you've improved the driving experience. I'm definitely going to have to looking into more sound deadening for our vintage rv, I can't hear anything when driving.....literally.
8:47 Singa is pacing back and forth. Next she will take a tin cup and start banging on the windshield. "Let me out of here, you screws! I'm innocent, I tell ya."
Fleetwood did a bang up job because it seemed a lot quieter and almost devoid of the creaks and squeaks that you get in most (all?) RVs. Did the added insulation help with the heat coming from the doghouse too?
I subscribe to several full time RV'ers, and in the videos there are always a fair amount of squeaks and rattles. BUT, it seems like you really have reduced that amount from what I could hear before. It appears what steps you took have paid off a lot in the noise reduction department, engine and coach. If you travel and LIVE in your rig it would seem to be worth the extra cost to have it all done. Thanks again. P.S. Great hair as always Nikki. :D
Glad we rented when we went up to Whistler for the Olympics, the interior noise was horrible. Like you said, it's all about the price one can pay and at our price point, it's a noisy rid.
I love ur videos. If u guys ever get a chance to test out a Thor class A toy hauler I would love to hear about that coach. It would be nice to take the parents and have the extra garage for a private area. Thanks again!!
+Gone with the Wynns How about Newmar Canyon Star, ever check them out or any comments about them? Looking at a new Canyon Star 3913 for my wife and I. She is going into traveling nursing.
Now get the 5 Star Tuning installed, its just a upload to the computer and the Ford transmission shifts better and a little more HP without any gas mileage lost.
I am curious. The lizard skin did wonders for the engine noise by putting it in the dog house. Do you think i f they had Lizard skinned or Dyna mated the whole cab area. (doors/walls, floor, ceiling) it would have made a big difference in road noise?
O yeah I forgot to mention if you take your foot off the gas paddle right before twenty five hundred RPM it will shift lot quitter ,engine will not roar it will be easy on the transmission also ,I know that Coachmen are lot quitter but they got some other issues so they all are good I guess , I know that you know that I just like to mention it.
guys to quite the cab some more put carpet on the dog house to improve the ride on that coach put air suspension on it it will greatly improved the ride the noise in side the cab you need to carpet the dog house then you will not hear all that noise. 50%to75% quiter recommend them changes you will be very happy that you got that done
+soaringtractor Air Ride doesn't stop the sway as much as the bigger sway bar. A lot of pushers are built for a greater payload to begin with. Most or the large gas models have a GVW of less than 26000, while some of the diesel pushers are over 26000 GVW and require an upgraded license.
Looks like the spray did a good job. Question did they just spray the dog house or some other areas around the engine as well. Also the place you went in Colburg, do they only work on Fleetwoods? Happy travels.
+timon0x31 They just sprayed the doghouse and the place in coburg is the ARG service center so they work on Holiday Rambler, Monaco, American Coach and Fleetwood. Here is the post with all the extra details from the video: www.gonewiththewynns.com/gas-rv-squeaks-rattles-engine-noise
Hey Jason and Nikki, Wanted to say I love your videos! Very informative and very well made. Quick question, at minute 7:23 when jason is talking about the other RV with minimal noise, I could not make out the name. Can you please provide that name or anyone reading this post that was able to catch it. A mil Thanks
+David Kennedy Wow, Thank you very so much David for providing such in depth information. Learn quite a bit. I'm definitely going to look into the different motorhomes you mentioned. Thanks you A LOT!!! ^_^
Just had to say Hi. I saw you guys in Fort Bragg on main St. Looking good, like your VD's too! One thing I have to say...with that big RV you both look so small in there! :)
Any issues with the interior of the RV? It was strange to see the cat pacing back and forth at the end of the video. I hope it didn’t leave you a surprise. :)
I really enjoyed this video. It was fun, and informative. You have the best kitty anywhere. Loved the camping location. Thanks for the tip on the off-season camping. Was this a state, or national park? Is it available at all parks, or just on a case by case basis? Thanks again, and Happy Camping!
hi Guys love the info , One question that you might talk about is the maintenance fee on a gas vs diesel witch one is the most expansive upkeep ps Nicki love the new hair color
I only know what you Yankee Doodle Dandy's show me big boy. Europe invested in diesel engines in a big way but not the U.S at all.... OK, off to drive my BMW, engine sounds much better...... And it goes around corners too. You guys don't know what corners are I think?
Hey guys is this the Bounder with the L couch extension facing the fireplace and tv? I love the floor plan and I'm looking at a 2017, do you think the sound proofing and anti sway packages are already in place thanks to your feedback to Fleetwood? Thanks again
I read your channel description and did a search of videos but I didn't see anything about how you two make money in order to fulfill your daily dream that came into reality of being able to travel. You obviously make money dong youtube but are there any tips or secrets you'd like to share?
So here's a question, and please forgive my RV ignorance but, would it have been the same cost or maybe even cheaper to have bought a diesel given you didn't have to do all of this extra and additional work on the diesel versus the gas? For example, if the diesel is $60k and the gas is $50k but you put $15k of work into the gas then the diesel is cheaper...is this a true statement? Are there other reasons beyond the shakes, rattles and rolls that you prefer the diesel? Very interesting experiment you are doing there, thanks for sharing.
+helloman1976 Try more like a gas motorhome is around $120,000 and a diesel is around $185,000, spend $5000 in improvements on a gas and its quiet, handles better and better performance
Georgia Yankee I didn't say it would be better than the diesel I said it would be better than when it was new, however not all diesel motorhomes have the high HP and torque, some have only 350 HP and 550 lbs of torque, many diesel motorhome buyers are unaware there is lower cost diesel that suffer in the performance, my 08 Bounder with the 3 valve V-10 with all it performance upgrades I am now at 400 HP and 500lbs of torque and still cost thousands less than a diesel and I have air bags..
Georgia Yankee Yea freight liner sure has had many recalls on the motorhome chassis as I recall, even some on RV.net are glad they sold theirs off because of the ongoing issues.. Are you having any air brake issues yet, so far the newer F-53's are rock solid no recalls as of yet..
Your RV is sounding very loud or it may be the video mic. Is picking up more than your hearing...or it is so much better than before so your happy 😃 sorry I didn't hear your first video...
For your test coach I wish the manufacture would had let you design it out of the box. I feel much of your RV coach had design limits and still looks like the traditional looking RV. First I would had liked to have seen those exterior stripes removed second I was hoping the coach would of had a modern design similar to both the AirStream products and the Leisure Travel Van. I did not see that with your test RV coach. Do you think any RV manufacturer will design a large coach with a modern interior and with a one color exterior in the near future? I am hoping that will happen before I retire.
+Gone with the Wynns I know I got that feeling after asking a lot of questions at the show at the LA Fairgrounds and the sales people are your typical car salesmen and women. When I did find a manufacture rep I asked them questions about design and they seemed clueless. I love the flooring I see on the AirStream trailers. O Well the more the customers ask those questions the better chances of them changing. Happy travels to the both of you.
Hey guys, questions, was that a "insulation pack" specific to your motorhome? Can you give me an idea of where to start to find something like that for our 2016 Thor Ace 29.4 (Gas)? Thanks in advance, your videos have been so helpful for this first time RV'r.
I can't understand why diesel is so much more expensive. It seems to me that unless you're willing to spend a half a mill & up these things are meant to be lived in 24/7. Your thoughts? Thanks
Seems to me that the size and weight of your RV is about the maximum for that engine. That's a long time to get to 55mph. Merging on an interstate highway would probably require every inch of road just to reach 70 to merge into traffic.
I've driven big trucks, U-Haul, etc, so I understand it's not a speed demon, just saying that with as slow as the acceleration was, looks like the maximum amount the drivetrain can handle before a larger engine is needed.
I'm pretty sure that RV wouldn't be road legal here in the UK. Jason's head is so far back from the side window he has no side view without leaning forward, peripheral vision severely impaired. I would hate to drive that, poor design.
Hi guys. I guess that in terms of driving comfort, RVs with the engine at the back are perfect, you would hardly listen to it. And talking about feedback, sorry guys, but I think the front of your RV is so so ugly, there ares so many design possibilities nowadays and that seems so poor... Anyway, great job with the decoration and RV test.
I changed my shocks, sway bars, & added the steering control. What a huge difference. Also added insulation to the floor, doghouse & firewall...much quieter. Thanks. I really should make a habit of checking your website more often.
The rattles and squeeks are EXTREME in this RV. Even with the pack installed
Love that drive from Eugene to Florence! Love that area so so much! Even though we don't have a Class A I love watching your videos! :)

Why not the Allegro? That style fits you nicely N. thanks for all the information and work you put forth.

Try a set of Firestone ride-rite air bags. Works wonders.
It would have been great to see exactly what the techs installed. Factory vs the retrofit.
Now get the 5 Star Tuning installed, its just a upload to the computer and the Ford transmission shifts better and a little more HP without any gas mileage lost.
A gas RV right now is pretty nice with gas prices at $1.92 a gallon in MA
I am curious. The lizard skin did wonders for the engine noise by putting it in the dog house. Do you think i f they had Lizard skinned or Dyna mated the whole cab area. (doors/walls, floor, ceiling) it would have made a big difference in road noise?

Do you two miss the diesel pusher?

You have the "nature's head composting toilet". What do you do with the compost when you need to empty?
Is there a rear engine gasoline coach, there may be gains there, at-least in noice upfront. Any Thoughts? Thanks
Yes I believe it's called the workhorse ufo chassis it comes with a chevy vortex engine
We go and play in the Dunes in Florence....
+Greg Dawildman Fast We went sandboarding there last time we drove through, loads of fun on those dunes.

Georgia Yankee Yea but not by much and how much more did that diesel cost, $90,000 more ??
Georgia Yankee Yea freight liner sure has had many recalls on the motorhome chassis as I recall, even some on RV.net are glad they sold theirs off because of the ongoing issues..
Are you having any air brake issues yet, so far the newer F-53's are rock solid no recalls as of yet..
Your RV is sounding very loud or it may be the video mic. Is picking up more than your hearing...or it is so much better than before so your happy 😃 sorry I didn't hear your first video...
The mic does amplify it a bit.
I was curious how did they fix the dash squeaks. Did I miss it?
Have you ever considered a smaller rig?
For your test coach I wish the manufacture would had let you design it out of the box. I feel much of your RV coach had design limits and still looks like the traditional looking RV. First I would had liked to have seen those exterior stripes removed second I was hoping the coach would of had a modern design similar to both the AirStream products and the Leisure Travel Van. I did not see that with your test RV coach. Do you think any RV manufacturer will design a large coach with a modern interior and with a one color exterior in the near future? I am hoping that will happen before I retire.
+dphotos I wish they would but I don't see that happening anytime in the near future. Only because there isn't anything even close to it now.
+Tracy T We go into more details in the article we shared on our site: www.gonewiththewynns.com/gas-rv-squeaks-rattles-engine-noise
Another great video! Nikki LOVE your hair and I'm glad you got rid of the blond :)
That’s pretty loud. Did you adjust your sway bar?
I have the same engine noise problem with our coach. What type of insulation did they spray on?
+Utah As We See It We have all the details in the post: www.gonewiththewynns.com/gas-rv-squeaks-rattles-engine-noise
+Gone with the Wynns Thank you I will check it out.
Do you guys camp during winter time?
+L4LE Gaming Yes! Here is our info on winter camping: www.gonewiththewynns.com/winterize-rv
Would an air ride suspension make any difference?
+TheGreatDebtpression heck ya it would! but I don't know of any gas RV's with air ride suspension.
I can't understand why diesel is so much more expensive. It seems to me that unless you're willing to spend a half a mill & up these things are meant to be lived in 24/7. Your thoughts?

+Tommy TwoGun Not very many motorhomes have a fast from start, I never have a issue with my gas getting on the highway.
+Tommy TwoGun Revving the hell out of it! It will be leaking oil in no time.
I've driven big trucks, U-Haul, etc, so I understand it's not a speed demon, just saying that with as slow as the acceleration was, looks like the maximum amount the drivetrain can handle before a larger engine is needed.
The best way to get rid of noises is to turn the stereo up.
Dunes are fun...
Rv's are all basically the same except for the chassis, fords are the best for Gas, Freightliner for diesel.
I thought they had some big discovery or some shit what happened to that one?
+Chuck Polhamus we've always had a 30-33' RV.
Cat circling at the end FTW
What was the co$t to de$queak it ?
Pullers are much much louder then pushers anyday
Don’t forget your seatbelt !
sounds like a racing car
Hook up with Winnebago :)
turn on rock music to drown out the rattles
I like y'all
I feel like for $190,000 it better be quite to that's alot of money
get a European articulated truck for camping it would be way more comfortable I'm not kidding you can yt? trailers that are basically a camper
now if you get a 2 million dollar coach that's the only way you can get a RV that sounds like a car.
I'm pretty sure that RV wouldn't be road legal here in the UK. Jason's head is so far back from the side window he has no side view without leaning forward, peripheral vision severely impaired. I would hate to drive that, poor design.
noise cancelling car stereo, I tell you what.
+renatoscutube We like this dash way better than the old bounder dash. I think some of my favorite dash designs are in the Monaco's.
Engine is revving stupidly high. That is going to bite you later.
+ZS6JMP Since it's not their RV, they can treat it like a rental car.
+pk13910 Do they get their RVs' for free?
Guys, just sell it and buy another Diesel pusher.
Ok, after watching A LOT of your videos, Nikki, I must say, you hair, in this video looks CUTE as h*ll !!!!. Jason, you look normal. Sorry! 😁😁
I bet the Monaco Vesta wasn't as noisy as this POS you got :/
+phillip cyr It was a little quieter but still had some engine noise because it was front engine.
You did not go up a big hill,
Least or rides better😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
god she's cute! beautiful skin too ")
These two are just plain irritating!!
