CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Ryan (George Clooney) meets Alex (Vera Farmiga) at a bar.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Jason Reitman's adaptation of the novel Up in the Air tells the story of Ryan Bingham (George Clooney), who makes his living personally handing out pink slips -- he's the top hatchet man at a company that other companies hire when they are downsizing. And since business is booming, his job keeps him on the go constantly. He flies all across the country, staying in a series of nice hotels. And although this itinerant lifestyle prevents him from having any kind of stable, regular life, this doesn't bother him in the slightest -- he's thrilled to be a boy in a traveling bubble. During one particular layover, he strikes up a conversation with Alex Goran (Vera Farmiga), a fellow savvy traveler. They bond over the ins and outs of various airlines and hotels, and quickly fall into bed. By morning, they are figuring out when their schedules will allow them to meet up again, even though they both make it clear that there are no strings attached. When Ryan arrives back in the home office, he meets no-nonsense career-oriented twentysomething Natalie Keener (Anna Kendrick), a fast-rising up-and-comer who wants to change the company's practices and save millions by having the staff fire people remotely via webcams. Furious at the thought of losing a lifestyle he's grown quite comfortable with, he convinces his boss (Jason Bateman) to let him take Natalie on a few trips so that she can learn what it's really like to fire someone. Melanie Lynskey, Danny McBride, and J.K. Simmons co-star in this Best Picture Academy Award nominee.

"We are two people who get turned on by elite status, I think cheap is our starting point" - gotta love that line!
I think cheap is out of the question.
Gosh I hate when people just repeat exactly what was said. We can listen to what they saying. But the deaf community appreciates you.
I don’t understand people who pursue points & miles. Too complicated. I only use the cards that payout cold hard cash. (Or convert points to cash.)
.
The acting is superb. The characters played here are disgusting. She is married and travels the country for work, f--king every sailor in every port. And she wont tell them about her "real life." Those men are just "asterisks." I wonder what she thinks of her husband? This guy, he travels the country to make a career out of firing people. What kind of career is that? It would be like going to veterinary school to simply roam the earth and go clinic to clinic putting animals to sleep. I suppose that is just one step above divorce attorney who makes a great living ending marriages and destroying families and TWO steps above medical doctors who perform abortions. I would pay a mafia hit man with more professional regard.
If Patrick Bateman was also at this table comparing cards, this movie would have ended very differently for both of these two.
Let’s see Paul Allen’s frequent flyer miles
@@Davidsworldtravels Can ask him, when he comes back from London on his business trip. Strange he's been on the trip a while tho.
Impressive.
Very Nice…
That's a really good point.
@@Davidsworldtravels Oh my god, it has an RFID chip.
one of the best movies in recent years. So many issues covered in one movie. great chemistry between these two.
what issues were covered?
A lot of context, and subtext lol.
Love, Marriage, Young, and adulthood issues, Relationship between family, and your boyfriend/spouse, Working in a company. Being alone or only with yourself.
@@christopherjones1782obviously cheating.
Funny how the movie has you thinking that he is the more shallow or detached one until the twist
It's always that way.
men are romantics pretending to be pragmatists
women are Pragmatists pretending to be romantics
I watch this scenes when it first came out and think to myself "man, must be nice to have elite mileage like that, if only.." Fast forward 10 years later in early 2019 i got notification in my email that ive achieved platinum or highest status on my card. I immediately remember this scene and how i wish back then i can do this and now here i am.
@Nobody: - niiice!
there you are.
i think that it is of elite not to travel, having filled 5 passports with visas and arrival/ departure stamps on 7 years (precovid) i believe the elite is not to travel except as tourist!
I don’t understand people who pursue points & miles. Too complicated. I only use the cards that payout cold hard cash. (Or convert points to cash.)
.
My god, Vera Farmiga was scorching hot in this movie.
Why cut off the reply, "There's nothing cheap about loyalty"? Fantastic reply to "Cheap is our starting point".
this scene was just everything
Lies again? Fly Emirates AA
This should be required viewing for all corporate loyalty members, frequent flier milers or mileage run enthusiasts
and the unemployed
Buen Camino brother
I don’t understand people who pursue points & miles. Too complicated. I only use cards that payout cold cash. (Or convert points to cash.) Cash can be saved or invested into retirement plans. Or pay the bills
.
I’ve got a block buster card .....ladiesssss
Didn't they go outta business like 10 years ago?
Lol!!!
There’s one left in Bend, you can legit use it still
I've got an expired Dave and Busters token card ;)
I just got my Concierge Key, and it’s just as sweet as it sounds❤🛩
When George said I'm not the wedding type n if u can stomach it I'd like it to be you . Thats romantic to me .
me too. If someone (some guy I mean) looking like George would say anything to me at all (nope) it would probably be (rephrasing) - "I am not the wedding type, and you haven't changed my mind on that" :(
After ~7 years marriage will come divorce as your wife says “I’m bored and want a different man.” She then takes 60% your income, 50% your property, plus child support , plus custody.
No thanks .
1:20 You didn't see graphite, because it's NOT THERE!
"If there is graphite on the roof then that means the CORE IS EXPOSED"
60K miles? Not great, not terrible
“An Amex Platinum card does not just explode “

Let’s see Paul Allen’s card
This is funny, cute, and sad, all at the same time.

@@electrictroy2010 it tickles the same part of the brain that gets tickled when you play slot machines or play video games that have loot in them. The people who came up with this stuff are like the pro leagues of crack dealers lol
How big is it... This big... THIS BIG?
i don't like to brag but it's 12 inches, limp
"I hate asking for directions, that's why I have an app".
This movie was ahead of its time considering smartphones were not mainstream till the mid 2010's.
I heard “app” too but i think she said “nav”
This is such an awesome movie so many can relate to. Average people working their daily lives picking up mediocre meaningless conversation in their boring work travel. literally bragging about miles and business expenses, company credit cars, hotels, car rentals and life.
I don’t understand people who pursue points & miles. Too complicated. I only use the cards that payout cold hard cash. (Or convert points to cash.)
.
Or business cards.
Oh god..it even has a watermark
Let's see Paul Allen's concierge key.
This was the first movie I've ever seen vera farmiga in. She was so hot in this scene
Yea. After that I've always kept an eye out for her projects.
I first saw her in the departed. she was beautiful in that movie as well.
I feel poor
just remember...there is a difference between "poor" and "broke".
@@raytheonorion lol😂
@@raytheonorion definitely. I am low income, but I am neither broke nor in financial debt.
this is like the business card scene in American Psycho
lol Hertz never has cars with less than 20k miles.
what am i doing with my life? I'm seeing 2 millionare actors playing millionares and bragging about their elite lifestyle....fml
Jensonsational never too late to join the club
Jens Blaze They’re not playing millionaires. Try watching the movie.
In the movie, they definitely aren't millionaires. George Clooney might be close.
Jens how sad. They are not playing millionaires however, as Henry said.
@tdot22 eh if you have been in consulting that long and you aint 7 figures you doing it wrong.
"i love the weight"
And then their planes crashed into the ocean of Narcissi.
love to buff Vera Faminga
This is one depressing movie
Alex pulls out like 2 cards, and Ryan pulls out like 10.
I love a good heavy card too, will never forget the day I finally held my platinum American Express card... (yes I am bragging 😊)
I got mine a couple of months ago - the things weighs a ton :D
I remember this scene so well. Having worked in retail, you get some fancy credit cards.
Best airline mileage loyalty program ever

i wonder if that's a nespresso george is drinking at the start of the clip?
"Maplewood", haha. Soon to be part of the "Marryog" empire. :p
She loves the weight, so presumably this thing is heftier than most cards. Yet she mistook it for carbon fiber, which is known for its light weight. Nit picking, I know.
Sanghoon Lee i thought I was the only one who caught this
Weight doesn't mean "heavy" though.
she seemed to observe its weight only after knowing it was graphite
They are americans, what do you expect?
Nah - I think your comment is a good call.
I want to hate them for being so shallow, but I pay $695 a year for an Amex Platinum just so I can flex it when I’m on a date. And it works.
Bit of a double edged sword.
The kind of girls this attracts can be a recipe for disaster.
1st they love u for the money, then they just love the money
Great movie
Best scene
This is American Psycho trying to be meet cute. Y'all realize that, right?
let's see paul Allen's Card ...
why low volume
perhaps in hopes it won't be removed. But yes, I agree. I have to strain to hear. Good thing there are subtitles.
Anyone have an Amazon Platnium Prime card?
Pre-covid I traveled for work every week and racked elite status with everyone. Covid sort of destroyed the lifestyle thjs movie portrays.
I have to laugh at these two that consider "concierge" status at American Airlines as an ELITE STATUS level - you basically pissed away a lifetime of cash for a few drinks and a crappy on-board meal. I worked at American - it's the truth.
Except they didn’t waste their own money. The flights were paid by the company
But in general I agree. I don’t understand people who pursue points & miles. Too complicated. I only use cards that payout cold cash. (Or convert points to cash.) Cash can be saved or invested into retirement plans. Or pay the bills

@@electrictroy2010Same reason why people pursue XBox achievements. Everyone has a hobby.

She's The Beauty That Names Like Jennifer Aniston And Raquel Welch Wish To Be!
"If a car has over 20,000 miles, I don't drive it." So, using her requirements, if a commercial rental car has over 20,000 miles on the odometer, she refuses to drive it. Honey - it's a rental and you're nothing special...that's why you work a job that requires travel and uses rentals in the first place. She essentially wants a BRAND NEW CAR for a temporary rental. And why? Because she has 'standards'....while sleeping with an unknown man she met from a hotel bar that compared perk benefits from travel cards.
Rental cars with over 20,000 miles are definitely not new and can show significant wear and tear. I'd be fine with up to 30,000 if it's a nicer model, but when you rent cars weekly it's not unreasonable to want the newest/best cars
@@john40539I respectfully disagree, sir. According to the character, a car with more than 20,000 miles on it is a 'sh*tbox.' That's hilarious to me.
@@carlrosa1130 If we're being specific, the sh*tboxes belong to "that new outfit, Colonial". But yes, I agree that her standards seem to be inconsistent.
The Dictionary Brought Me Here...See I Saw The Word "Beauty" And It's Definition Said "Vera Farmiga!"
