Nothing to be ashamed of, Matt. I was the first generation to vote at 18. I voted tribally for Labour, as I considered myself as 'working class'. By the time of the next GE, I had realized, that I was in a class of voters, who never gained, but always lost. Neither abject poor, nor obscenely rich.
Consequently, I never voted again during that 50+ years. But I have this time (no prizes for guessing who I voted for 😄). The politics and politicians of this country, declined through the remainder of the last century. But in the last 20 years, they've degenerated into an appalling cabal. No decency, integrity, and certainly no political acumen, or respect for the electorate.
Farage, may not be perfect, there will always be someone, who is sucking a lemon, but at least he says what he thinks, and believes is right. And significantly, he's not afraid to go against the system.

Matt Goodwin is always worth listening to, even on Triggernometry.
Less than 14 million people voted for the Tories in 2019.
So if everyone who voted for Brexit comes out to vote against the establishment we can finish what we started.
Remember at the forthcoming election what the Tories did to the country in 2020 whilst they were partying.
And don't forget Labour supported everything.
Persuading people not to vote is how the Labour activists hope to win a big majority.

The other interesting thing that he said was that he was in the Reform movement for five years. I wanted to hear that long term commitment and that gives huge credibility to Reform in my view.

He’s right: Farage is uncharacteristically young for a modern party leader. He almost missed the baby boomer cohort by a few months. But what really sets him apart from his peers is the fact that he genuinely does not seem to care about power as an end in itself. If he ever manages to become PM, we might see a rare occasion where a politician sets up the stage for a new generation instead of clinging to power and only stepping down when he becomes irremediably unpopular or expire of old age (US senate anyone?).

Farage's initial singular issue was ACCOUNTABILITY he wanted 2 things.
1. The British people to control the fate of their own country not some Bureaucrats in Brussels who has no cost to screwing up to lives of people in other countries.
2. He wanted to remove the shield that British politicians used to protect themselves from bad decisions.
In short he wanted the representative process to be representative.
He got that and decided he was happy, but then when the 2nd part kicked in and we learned that after all those years Torries couldn't any longer hide that their agenda is indistinguishable from the Labor and further that after being corrupted by their time in the EU the Brits now have a Uni-Party the common man needed to remind these self entitled trust-fund babies that they work for the people. But first as is the democratic process they get a warning which is what will happen this election.
The problem is these guys are arrogant, the hubris on people like this is part of the job requirement, so prepare for a long painful romp to fix this mess.

Yeah, net zero just really doesn't make sense when so many bigger countries add far far more than the UK does. I don't want us to increase CO2 emissions but it would make more sense to invest in other things than to be able to boast about net zero!

I have spoken to people who voted to remain in the eu. They say they are voting reform.

If your Conservative candidate is at all like Badenoch, Braverman, Jacob Rees-Mogg and a few dozen other proper conservatives they should be supported. If he/she is a managerial technocrat like Jeremy Hunt, vote Reform. Differentiating between different types of Tory is the only way to get the Party to change. Expecting Mr Farage to somehow take over the Conservative Party is pie in the sky.
Despite Tony Benn's left leanings he did share common ground with reform about democracy and the threat of totalitarianism. His view that we shouldn't put too much stock in leaders but rather movements is very apt. I think Farage is doing a great job with Reform but he isn't perfect and he will come under threats from the establishment.
