Hi kingoftypos3, I believe you are correct about not being able to program contacts in to the home phone connect. The caller ID should work the same as what your cellphone would look like if a number was not programmed in to your contacts. I've noticed that the reception on the Home Phone connect is very similar to the reception on the cellphone so you might get the same dropped calls you get with your phone. -Scott at Wirefly
Hi Eric Robinson, It depends on the plan you currently have or if you are creating a standalone account to add the Verizon Home Phone Connect. Some plans are unlimited minutes and some use the minutes available from your cellphone plan. -Scott at Wirefly
Will my T Moblie cell phone show me the house phone number from the Verizon home phone box by when I call my cell phone number with my house phone on the Verizon home phone box?
If you can take this device with you anywhere you go, you, in effect, have a cell phone when you connect a phone to it. This could replace a cell phone for talking only. Right? Or, am I missing something? Granted, you can only talk on it but that's all I do on my home phone anyway.
Nice job with the video. I'm not following why this device only works with Verizon ? I was also wondering if you could have 2 of these for phones upstairs and downstairs using the same phone number ? What is the current model number for this device ?
@calebisthinking Wirefly actually sells a decent number of the Home Phone Connect. You're right about people dropping home phone lines, but the HPC is a way to have home phone line convenience without the cost. In general, however, you are right -- home phone lines are going away. Bob at Wirefly
I have the same issue as Kristin Aquilino. I have an Apple Airport router that I use to support my Apple laptop. If I install Verizon Home Phone Connect will I lose connectivity with my Apple internet router for my laptop and other devices? Harry Schwartz
No. I have a D-Link wireless router, and the StraightTalk Home Phone - (a rebranded Verizon Home Phone Connect). I have NO problems with wireless. Wifi and this work fine together. I suspect the other person had some other issues...
@GoMetricToday Yes, the phone company has figured out pricing schemes to make disconnecting the phone financially unattractive. I have Verizon's FiOS at home and they make it difficult to turn off any part of it without simply cancelling the whole thing. Bob at Wirefly
One major problem with the home connect is that if you have a wireless router, your wireless will no longer work. The sales people told me that it would, as we sometimes work from home and need it. So, now I have been in the process for THREE weeks trying to get my number hooked back up to my land line so I can have wireless internet again and it has been a nightmare! Not a happy Verizon costumer at all!!
Hmm, i have heard...well read in comments people saying things like this: "with the home connect is that if you have a wireless router, your wireless will no longer work.". Is that true? I don't have a router though. I have wireless internet, but i get it without the use of a router. I just use a modem for wireless internet. So, will this thing stop my wireless internet from working?
It should not interfere with your wireless network any more than a cellphone would. This is like a verizon cellphone but it funnels the call into a landline phone.
I havehad this device for almost ayear and I can't get my messages. Now it appears to be full because when people want to leave a message, it tells them that the mailbix is full. Help!
That is such an awesome idea! If you have a home in the mountains, you can take your home phone number there almost like.............wait for it.............a cell phone?
this is the identical unit used by Walmart Straight Talk home phone service which costs $15 mo with no contract needed unlike the 2 yr contract Verizon requires . the deal breaker is no 911 unless you give your address- if you are unable to speak , good luck ! ( works as a cell phone 911 ) I was told by another poster that if you ever had a home phone , if you plug a corded phone into your existing wall jack you will be able to dial 911 and they will know your address - anyone know if true
@JadynsMom012608 Yes, you're right. Anything that has a modem will not work with the Home Phone Connect, and DirecTV uses a modem in its receivers. Bob at Wirefly
I don't really understand the point of this product. I use the landline when I'm home because it has better call quality. If you want cellular quality calls, why not just use your cell phone? And when you go on vacation... why do you need your landline? Just take your cell phone. I can not wrap my mind around how this product would be useful.
This may surprise you but not everyone has a smartphone and unlimited cell phone minutes. There are 2400 people in the Tracfone_Users yahoo group. groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Tracfone_Users/info WRZ

Wirefly would the work plugged into my truck power outlet? While traveling down the highway?
Will my T Moblie cell phone show me the house phone number from the Verizon home phone box by when I call my cell phone number with my house phone on the Verizon home phone box?
we need to find more out about the USB port maybe possibly can be used for wifi to laptop, lets experiment and see

Will my answering machine answer calls off of the Verizon home phone box?
Hi SaucyBee,
You would need to have an active Verizon account to use the Home Phone Connect.
-Scott at Wirefly
Could you plug in the homebase for a wirelesss phone system directly into this device ?
Nice job with the video.

Can you use this device without having a Verizon account?
What does it mean when the telephone envelope light on the box is blinking?

+Lenard McLean What does this product have to do with WiFi? This transfers your home number to a 3G 4G cell network, nothing to do with wifi.
WILL THIS WORK AS A HOTSPOT FOR MY WIFI
How do you get your phone to ring longer to get to it
@GoMetricToday Yes, the phone company has figured out pricing schemes to make disconnecting the phone financially unattractive. I have Verizon's FiOS at home and they make it difficult to turn off any part of it without simply cancelling the whole thing.

Thanks for the update Scott shadrix!!!

Wireless phones which can connect to it ?

You dial *86 from your home phone to access voicemail. If you have never dialed it before, it will take you through setup the first time.

I was told the fax machine would work. Can someone test this for me.
Typo in the description!
"Verizon is **no offering an updated version of its popular Home Phone Connect..."
Is this via Wi-fi? If so, if you lose power, you lose Wifi, too.
@JadynsMom012608 Yes, you're right. Anything that has a modem will not work with the Home Phone Connect, and DirecTV uses a modem in its receivers.

It won't work with Direct TV's Pay Per View either.
I got this thing for my parents and it won't work. They have a wireless phone and it just will not connect
What model is the wireless phone and is the verizon device showing there is a signal?

lancerooke This is because it is good to have a landline, but they are trying to do something "innovative" by getting rid of the physical line
