  • This method works well if you have glycol in your system. Very little fluid is lost while cleaning.

You don’t need to take off top , simply pull out magnet from top and debris falls to bottom, open ball valve and drain.
You’ll wear out o ring on top , no need to open

Thank you, I've been trying to work out why no water was circulating all day - I did not know there was a bleed on the Fernox TF1

I can`t line my yellow arrow back up. It`s in the wrong place but lid is tight and no leaks

Great, thanks! Unfortunately mine cannot be opened while built-in (no space), so I need to remove it by those 2 big bolts next to the red handles first

The whole point of the TF1 is that you remove the magnet and flush through using the taps WITHOUT having to unscrew the top which will almost certainly cause leaks down the line once you've disturbed the seal.

Good point. In this case, the fluid in this system is glycol, and we want to keep it in because it is expensive to replenish . The method you talk about works great for water with inhibitors.

I can absolutely confirm this to be the case. Putting any torque on the filter will cause the unions to leak, and then God help you if it's been installed in a constricted location and you can't get at them.

"The whole point of the TF1 is that you remove the magnet and flush through using the taps WITHOUT having to unscrew the top "
      - but how? On the video, you need to remove the top to access the magnet.

@@zzzzz2903 The cylindrical magnet just pulls out the top. It's not immersed in the water, it sits in a plastic sleeve.
