  • Straylight has blown me away. The instrument takes the granular synthesis technique a step further by curating select sample sources paired with an easy to use, yet powerful engine that delivers massive cinematic possibilities. I can't wait to use Straylight in my next trailer or sci-fi project.

    21:59 The Grain and Sample can be turned on and off using the circle next to "Grain" or "Sample" to enable or disable them. Those can also be Midi automated and they do ring out so you can add them or mute them for individual notes.

    It’s definitively a great tool for trailers and cinematic music. I wonder if it could be useful for more casual music, some electronic music à la Jean-Michel Jarre or Tangerine Dreams?

      Hey J, I list track titles at the very end of the video and that one is an offical demo for Straylight titled "Zug" - unfortunately I don't see credit for the composer or I would have shared that as well. You are welcome and thanks for the support

    For sample only, couldn’t one just turn the grain volume down? Or is that possible? Great tutorial man. I thinking real hard abt getting this real soon for my own original samples.

    • @FreqsTV

      pretty sure that is the Editors Keys Backlit Keyboard for Cubase. I have it as well. Its great!

    So it sounds like you don't use a Komplete Kontrol Keyboard to take advantage of its NKS control then? I'm curious as to how they laid it out. A lot of times controls will be very limited by default, though I'm hoping they tried to match it closely to the interface.

    • @frankelting
      @frankelting 5 років тому +3

      Komplete Kontrol keyboards are fully integrated. The first page contains XY, Macros and layer bypass controls. The following pages provide access to send effects, Grain engine, Sample layer and layer effects parameters. 13 pages in total, which go inline with the interface layout.

    2¾ years of Kontakt 6, the unsung hero of these libraries (with which I mean the light-trilogy, play series and arkhis/sequis, among others).
    Admit it, people are underrating Kontakt.
    And okay, perhaps parallel mode has been in Kontakt since 5.5 (Output Substance makes use of it), but still!

    I‘m not sure about Straylight but using Form from time to time... What makes/made you want to buy Straylight, when you already have Form?

    • @andreasgajewski9524
      @andreasgajewski9524 4 роки тому +3

      uhm...it sounds totally different? i mean you could ask anyone: ,, why do you buy serum when you have absynth". sure, you can make your own sounds but it just sounds different. Moreover i had NI Form as a demo and it was hard to get some usefull stuff out of it (i mostly do cinematic music). Straylight seems way more fitting for this genre

    Thank you for another amazing review. One thing I would recommend you to do is make your reviews shorter. about 10 mins or so, but this means a lot of valuable content has to be cut off but I think 10 min is definitely much easier to watch. Other than that I really love your reviews, keep it up.

    • @SampleLibraryReviews

      Hey thanks so much for the suggestion Versa. I've worked on the reviews getting them into this format for a couple years now. I understand the strength of making a brief review, but honestly I dont think it would serve so many of the viewers as well as these instruments are so massive and diverse in their playback. I dont want the review to be just me telling you my opinion but sharing what it is like to play the instrument for the first time. I value your input thought Versa and will think on what might ad to the review from your input.

      I hear you but I like his playthroughs. There are screen casts that are hours long. But 35 min or so is good imo
