Great advice as usual. I have a few new constructions coming up so this is perfect. Btw, I'm looking into housecall pro. I like how simple it is. But is there a way track your time at a job? I know you can press start and stop, but does it show specific times?
I just quoted my first CCU last week. It was a remodel and has 20 Designer Series Pella windows newly installed and 66 old Pella windows. They want I/O and between the panes cleaned. The old windows are in pretty bad shape and there is a lot of ladder work. I quoted $3,250. We'll see if they call back. Funny though, they said they had called 5 different window cleaning companies and I was the only one to answer.
Loving the vids. Lol, it's probably the builder's brother in law (or someone close to him) who did the window cleaning. Oh, a little piece of foam over the mic might help with the walking noise.
Sub-contractors don't take care around glass on new builds. Often times the scratches are from lack of care around the glass, and not necessarily the window cleaner.
I've done a lot of ccu. I know there's $ to be made in those kind of jobs but I do all repeat twice a year customers. No paint scrapping, no silicone, no cement etc. All gravy work! That's where it's at.
On newer houses they may have LowE coating. You cant use anything abrasive. There is a coating on the exterior of the window and when agitated... it can look rough. I have seen picture of it but have never personally done it. I have only been cleaning windows for a year so if there is anyone with more knowledge and know this is wrong, please let me know. More of going by what I have been told.
Hi guys! Nice video. Do you have a video on ccu's and the methods and solutions you use to get hard set cement off? I have been turning down small ccu's because I don't want a repeat of last time :/
I always hear people say not to use razors and I get it . I really do. But my CCU jobs are always covered in silicone and paint and shit. I could scrub for an hour with wool and it wouldn't take the stuff off... you have any other suggestions for silicone? I razor it. I'm very careful on all my glass and I haven't yet had a complaint of scratches. But if there's a better way I wouldn't mind knowing
I also see it where builders have their framing crew get the stickers off the glass and try to spruce them up a little bit, thinking they were doing the incoming window cleaner or janitorial company, a favor. I know builders who have their junior high or high school kids come in after school and clean up the windows a little bit.for their wife. I assure you none of them know to lubricate that glass before they put a razor blade on it. And the razor blade is probably the same razor blade that is been in the night for the past three or four houses LOL
Luke- when I'm trying to clean windows I always have streaks, especially on high windows. It seems to be due to my squeegee blade being wobbly and not straight. admittedly they're cheap blades, any help on the matter? :(
Just to be the devils Avichi it might not not of been the window cleaners before that scratch those windows I have been on the number of job sites and I was your anyone clean the windows and by the time I got to them they were the scratched to hell and God from whatever construction procedures were around them but you're probably right it probably was a janitorial company that came in and cleaned and said yes we do windows to and I've never seen one of them that ever does them right
dude, on your next videos, PLEASE change how you are holding the camera or something... it sounds HORRIBLE every time you move it. thanks for the vids btw!
Dang that stinks guys! Contractors ,please quit telling your grunts to take the stickers off! I've seen them use pudddy knives before. I'm sure the builder is going to be hit on the backend of the job, big time! If not to have them replaced! I would be furious if I was the homeowner! Wow
ClearView ByJarod there's probably a good chance the scratches are the fault of the contractor., Or his kids, or his wife, or his framing crew that he tells to clean the windows up a little bit. He will probably play stupid and pass the blame. But this will be a learning experience to him to hire Luke from the outset.. The contractors I work for here locally, when we are painting, there is plastic over the windows until the drywall crew is done.
The windows should be under warranty if new construction. If the builder is legitimate she should have those windows replaced with no issue. l always offer to cover windows with plastic for clients that are building or insist that the builder do it. Show them a few pics of some gnarly scratches and their on board, nice little upsale as well. Rock on!
Yes being a guy that has worked in new construction trades being a painter, I can tell you about 99% of the time those scratches on the glass or not from someone who's tried to clean the glass. I see that stucco or 'drive it' siding, a lot of times theyre slinging that plaster and it's the plaster people, a.k.a.… The subcontractor… that did the scratches. Granted the people who just did the windows may have done a bad job because they were probably a janitorial type company. And they probably did not know about a scratch waiver form. But I would say there's a probable chance that the scratches were there before they did the cleaning.. Nonetheless you are the Grim Reaper and the carrier of bad news to The exciting new homeowner

+Mr. Glass yes you can track that time . you can pull it up in your job history on your desktop

"Save your Ass, Dont scratch glass" lol your wife's face was priceless 🤣
"Save your ass, don't scratch glass." nice.

Great motto...I am slowly learning about the glass differences...What besides tempered do you guys stay away from scraping?
+jason thomas also need to be careful with really old glass. and of course the types of debris you are removing for example concrete

What do you guys use to get the paint of the frames?
I always hear people say not to use razors and I get it . I really do. But my CCU jobs are always covered in silicone and paint and shit. I could scrub for an hour with wool and it wouldn't take the stuff off... you have any other suggestions for silicone?

Where can I get a copy of the scratched window form?
Hey guys if it would have been more of a traditional construction clean what would the price have been per pane?
Ryan Cochrane at least 10.00 per window

Luke- when I'm trying to clean windows I always have streaks, especially on high windows. It seems to be due to my squeegee blade being wobbly and not straight. admittedly they're cheap blades, any help on the matter? :(
+Ali Hall spunds like its due to pressure ...high windows can be hard to clean
