    Jamie, Spot on. The GS is big, heavy and comfortable to ride. Now needing the 100,000km service...

    The mighty GS, yes heavy like any other Adventure bike, but nothing handles better. Probably the best bike in the world.

    great review again Jamie, think you may have missed a trick with the sat nav though, it doubles up as a large display for speedometer and a host of other readings if you're not using the route function, it really is useful, and connected to that wheel you mentioned lets you scroll through as mentioned and choose various parameters ... as that model you've tested is the "exclusive" model, thats why its come pre wired with the sat nav mount, if you bought a bog stock GS it wouldn't come with that on, sorry... i sound like a right geek, just love my GS lol ... had 3 of them now .

    • @motogeo
      @motogeo  7 років тому +1

      Thanks for your comment and correcting me! :) Yes, it does sound like an interesting and useful display, however as I didn't have the sat nav, it sure felt like a big mount in my way. No wonder you love your GS's, great bike.

    Thank you for the great info and for actually telling us about the fuel economy. I'm looking to switch from the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S for something more capable and have just learned that BMW R 1200 GS is something suited for so much more duties.

    I own the GSA, and love this bike. Thought about switching to an RT of K, but just love the GS too much. I can do anything with her.
    Loving the videos mate.

    Great channel and another great video. Your bike reviews are great.. perhaps you could demo some sports bikes and provide future reviews. Given your racing background and film experience those reviews would be great and would definitely expand your audience. Thanks!

    You should try the 1200 GSA - even heavier with a full load of gas :) However, it feels lighter than the GS. I don't know how it's possible, but it does. I owned both and I found the GSA easier to handle. Great scenery and bike to have a blast!

    How does it compare to the Triumph Tiger 800. I'm thinking about switching for a shaft drive, either the gs or super tenere. I think the weight wouldn't be too noticable since most of it's in the engine and shaft drive. Any thoughts on all 3 would be appreciated.

    • @Mik01ist
      @Mik01ist 7 років тому

      why do you need to upgrade to a 1200? shaft drive super important for you? Ride both the GS and the ST, very different bikes. Otherwise have a look at the KTM1050 (yes 1050.. before you go for the 1090). The K will feel similar to the Tiger, just way better in every respect

      Did you keep your Tiger 800 or changed for a GS 1200? I rode a Tiger XCX 800 recently and I loved it.

    You should make it clear that the 5.3 gallon tank is the American measure. 20 litres is 4.4 UK gallons.

    You've done great job explaining all the features of "big cow" as I called this BMW because it is huge. I want to compared this bike with Suzuki V-strom 1000,what you think about that bike, and did you have chance to ride one? Safe ride ;-)

    • @neven7957
      @neven7957 7 років тому +1

      Suzuki V-strom 1000 is a 90% BMW R1200GS with the 60% of price!

    • @Mik01ist
      @Mik01ist 7 років тому

      There is some truth in this, I agree. I rode both. Unless you're serious about off-road, the Vstrom does all the GS does, just with no engagement. The boxer engine is however another world. The components are very good on the Vstrom, although they might feel cheap compared to the bits and bobs the GS has (assuming you really care) - I eventually went for the Caponord Rally

    • @neven7957
      @neven7957 7 років тому

      Well...If we consider price and reliability, V-Strom is "best buy". There are specimens of the V-Strom that have crossed over 600,000 miles without fault, while for BMW it can not be said. The BMW recalls are exceptionally frequent, while Suzuki for the mentioned V-Strom model since 2014 had no recall for mechanical failure or error.

    I used to really like my R1100GS in the 90s.
    I prefer the old two turn signal set-up. You get used to it really quickly.
    I really wish you'd scrap the irritating background music.

      It is a different ride, this GS is better suited to long miles than the AT, and AT is better suited to trails than the GS, all depends on what adventure you want to go on....?...
