Thank you so much! My partner and I got a tongue drum a year ago (a-akebono by Nataraj), and even though we have been having lotsa fun improvising and using it for meditation, we both started looking into tutorials to get more technique! Your explanations are really clear and your drum sounds beautiful!

I'd love to know how long our mallets can/should be, especially, if we have larger hands & longer limbs? Also, should our mallets be soft or hard? What's the difference? (Maybe a video on this could be awesome). Thank you so much. I love your tutorials.

Hi Alex. Tried to contact you through your Blog but apparently not available. Watched all 3 vids.as doing research to purchase 1 for both my son & myself. Hoping hoping you won't mind answering some questions with your thoughts. HOW & WHY did you choose the B minor scale? When choosing Kosmosky had you compared to other brands? Specifically were you aware of Vibedrums in AZ? If so, your thoughts about VibeDrums & what ultimately informed you to choose Kosmosky? The "donut" you use to sit the drum on [perfect imho], did you make it or is it some type of therapeutic pillow I might be able to search for on Amazon etc? Last, I thoroughly enjoyed these 3 tutorials & hope you have plans to add more soon! I think you splendidly fill a very large void in this niche! Thanks for your [hopeful] response. Regards, Marian

Hi Mare! Thanks for reaching out. So happy to hear you enjoyed some of my videos. I chose the B minor scale because the notes in this scale really resonated with me. I've played other tongue drums with different scales and they all sound beautiful and offer a unique sounds, but the B Minor just felt really calming to me when I heard it. So I would choose what you feel drawn to. I am not familiar with VibeDrums, but I checked out their site and it looks like they have some neat styles of tongue drums. I like the Kosmosky design specifically because the "tongue" shape is longer and a little bigger. I think having more surface area on the notes makes it easier to play and hit the notes easily with the mallet. I also love the different designs they offer. The VibeDrums may be great too, but I don't have any personal experience playing on that specific brand. I also got my donut pillow from the Kosmosky site, but I am experimenting with making my own. If you'd like me to make one for you I'd be happy to. I'm going to add my email to my blog now, so if you have any other questions please reach out : )

It's not chromatic. Any pentatonic scale of which I'm aware has no half-steps.
