17:56 This is actually a point of contention here, that IS the partnership between Aldrich and Sulyvahn. It took some time but after examining the original Japanese script , there actually isn't confirmation that the 2 were conspiring together , quite the opposite, Sulyvahn had Gwyndolin imprisioned and then Aldrich barged in and ate him ruining Sulyvahn plans for him, that's why we find Macdonell imprisioned and watched over by 2 Beasts, there was a struggle for power and Aldrich came out on top. In fact I think Sulyvahn had gone hollow when we rached him.
I just finished binge watching your Dark Souls 3 journey...what an adventure! Vaatividya is always a recommendation when it comes to the lore of these games.
What's really funny is how you pointed out how disappointing the Yhorm boss is, because that is easily explained by the fact that he was originally the tutorial boss before they the entire plot for DS3 was changed and Fromsoftware played musical chairs with the bosses and environments. So yeah. If you pay attention to the CGI intro you can see how much of the game was changed and they just never commissioned an Updated version of the opening. That's why Anor Londo is seen in a massive desert in the beginning (it's not because of the DLC) because you would travel to this desert (possibly Carthus), do some time travel shenanigans, and uncover the remains of the old Kingdom. Next time you're wandering around Irithyll, take a look at the "snow" you kick up every time you walk. It's actually sand because all Fromsoft did was recolor it white so it would look like snow. Pontiff was also the final boss at one point and that's why he's so hard. He's still balanced in such a way that he's not really meant to be a mid-game fight. The original boss for the Cathedral is the Fire Witch enemies that wander around outside shooting flames at you when you pass. Pontiff's old boss theme was repurposed and used for the title screen music.
I've always thought that the "pale girl in hiding" was Priscilla. Aldrich devours Gyndollin and learns of Priscilla-->Sulyvahn attacks the painted world and feeds her to Aldrich-->Aldrich has Lifehunt Scythe special ability.
Right? That could be why her tower is empty in the DLC. If it’s by “dreaming/knowing” then he knows of Gwyn, he’d have lightning spears then. He must have consumed them, even if long dead and just a remnant in the Lordvessel
I'm also so glad you played DkS2 and judged it for yourself instead of what others think of it. I think fans were too hard on it and it is a very enjoyable and important entry in the franchise. Also yes, you most certainly have to watch happy souls.
For the pilgrim butterflies, I haven't read up on them recently. But my idea is just from the visual theme of several things in the game. We have the pilgrims, and we're told that clerics carry protection on their backs to prevent seeds taking root. Clearly there's something on the pilgrims' backs. We also see a lot of people in the Undead Settlement dead in chairs or crucified, and they're sprouting trees. From DS2 there's the idea of giants turning into trees, so that's something that can happen in this world, perhaps at some point also to humans. Maybe the next stage of the tree is turning into the treelike butterflies to fly to the sun at the end of time? After this video was made, we also got the DLC with the "angels" and their crysalis-like pods, which might also be some stage of that transformation, or another type of similar transformation.
It is so great that you enjoy the whole trilogy. The three game together still feels more impactful for me than Elden Ring. And I firmly believe that DS3 has the best replayability. Not too short as DS1, and not too long as Elden Ring. Perfect boss fights and build variety is huge. I highly recommend watching Matthew Shezmen's Dork Souls 3 animated parody either by a reaction video (however the three part video is like 1.5 hour) or just for fun for yourself. It is very funny and a very accurate representation from the point of view of a first time souls player. DS3 was my first souls game so this parody series is resonates with me in a higher level. Enjoy the upcoming Elden Ring dlc and I am looking forward to watching you play Sekiro. You will love it! Thanks for your videos and for your sweet and unique personality!
Very interesting, Vaati does great stuff. I appreciate the souls style story telling so much, not every game has to be this way but I wish more of them were closer to this style rather than trying to imitate movies. I read that Miyazaki used to read fantasy novels in English and he couldn't understand everything so he had to piece it together, that's what inspired Fromsoft's style. It's a great style because it invites the player to fill in the gaps as well, there's great lore videos such as this but there's also so many unique stories players come up with (and have forgotten) in their heads as they play, at least for me that's how it is.
I read the same about Miyazaki and I agree it's a very clever and bold way to tell stories. I highly appreciate Miyazaki for taking his own very unique path.
when dark souls 3 came out, everyone pointed fingers saying "it's just fan service" but of the two chapters following the first it is the only one that has real connections with the first, but this still remains my point of view, there are very few references to DS2 in the third chapter, Mr. Miyazaki tried to include some references, but they are all tragic and in some cases even comical. To be sure I would watch all the lore videos on the two DLCs, and I can't wait to see the tier list of the DS saga bosses!
I want to thank you because by watching your video quest through DS3, I started playing it again along side you but then I switched to Elden Ring which spoiled me. Either way, good stuff. Kiitos
I think that there is some joy thinking everything is connected, Elden Ring endings relate to the various FromSoftware games and maybe DS3 has some connection to BB when speaking of a “vast sea” or darkness, could be the abyss, or like BB DLC after the clock tower, everything looks under water. We can make these connections and Miyazaki will just smile and shrug. Just enjoying the connections fans make. And the DS1 ending of linking, the flames consumed you and spread out…did it consume more of the world then? That’s why I think “linking” is a catastrophe over and over! Great lore watch, I love the engagement you have with the visuals and story as it goes. ❤ And if people don’t want to watch it, you’ll stream it on your discord maybe and we can do a watch along??!!
I've never played Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne. DS3 was my first souls game which I think is a masterpiece. Of all the lore I've learned so far, it's Yhorm and Siegward that makes me tear up. Think what you will, for me that is true love and friendship between two very charismatic characters. Greirat is another that fills me with sorrow.
Lothric and Lorian, Miquella and Melania are very similar, no.? Miyazaki keeps on providing ways to make you use your imagination as he was growing and learning himself. He now passes on these games. passing on his legacy through storytelling, this is the secret to his success. He rarely gives answers to his plot lines always ensuring you the player use your OWN imagination. This is why "The Lore" is so deep and why SO many try to figure out how the characters fit in with the story. Lore Reactions usually attract lots of views, please continue. Your English keeps improving. Thanks for all!
I'd like to watch optional bosses, NPCs, and also there's one about Patches. :) I don't think there's any in-world connection between Dark Souls and Bloodborne; and I don't think neither Patches not the Moonlight Greatsword are a sort of "eternal champion" stuff or multiverse versions. I don't think there anything to it other than two elements they like to use in most of their games even since the 90s.

The thought of aldrich breaking into Anor Londo to get a snack is so funny, great theory dude

I agree! It has its flaws like every game has. But it was super fun and I enjoyed it so much!
React to the lore of the dlcs too and the optional bosses
Will do!

No way that's so awesome!! Both games such masterpieces ❤️
I just realized that those Nito's robes Aldrich is dressing is actually his head, for his mouth is right below Gwyndolin while eating him.

You mentioned in your Dark Souls Remastered a wish to record on live. Do you still plan to do so?
I don't at the moment. :) Who knows what happens in the future!

He told you in the video, they made him a lord of cinder due to the power within him, he had nothing to do with it.

Whats the next one you will play? :D
Next week starts a new mini series, but then it's Elden Ring dlc when it comes out and after that Sekiro ✌🏻
