Things to keep in mind about this season
1 It's been six months since the last season
2 Rick has fully stepped down as leader and is being taught by Hershel how to farm
3 Carl's gun privileges have been taken away as Rick is trying to turn him back into a regular kid
4 Hershel has a prosthetic leg now.
5 The group has given up on searching for the governor with Michonne being the sole person looking for him.

Hell yeah, season 4 and 5 are my personal favorites. They are the "golden years" of TWD for sure.

Technically like 5 and a half but they're catching up fast. This season is where the show transitioned from the first group's "barely surviving" portrayal to their "Post-apocalyptic professionals" portrayal. Then season 9 will be the "Almost adapted" portrayal where you go episodes upon episodes without seeing a real walker just bite someone if at all.

"How long has it been?" Regarding why Carl looks older, that's just because of filming time. In-universe it's only been like... a month or two? Chandler turned fourteen during the first half of this season, and he was only ten in season one. Teen growth, my dudes.

No it was supposed to have been six months from the time they brought in the people from Woodbury until now . I looked it up back then , because I wasn't sure , and Laurie was pregnant for nine months so all in all it's getting close to a year and a half.
@@adrienne1958l I think they meant "how long has it been between this episode and last episode", not for the entire series including Lori's pregnancy. Even if it's been half a year though in-universe, I'm just saying Carl looks older because of the irl time that passed between seasons. He also starts to slowly look a little older between the first and second halves of each season because they film for so many months. But yeah, Carl/Chandler looks a lot older here because of the off season time.
As far as the timeline goes, it's a bit messy and unclear, and even Gimple (who took over the show as of this season that RT TV is on) eventually said on Talking Dead "we shan't get specific anymore" about the time that has passed. So for RT TV, I wouldn't worry about the passage of time lol.
Leaf Lenster no doubt Carl was in those years where he was a growing a boy and in the beginning, it was easy to explain because there were definitely time jumps. But when they had some season that they left off with cliff hangers and they came back where they left off ,there was no way to explain it really . Yes and Scott Gimple never gives a straight answer to anything . Oh yeah so the season usually ends at this time and cons back in October which is also six months
