It's the big dilemma of modern news reporting: on the one hand, you don't want only the rich to get the informative news, but on the other hand, the people working hard to research, write, edit, and report the news all have bills to pay too.
No Joke! I wonder if it is because the writers are in negotiations for their new contracts & may be walking out on strike. On a few TV shows, the hosts have been highlighting the many contributions of the writers toward making their show a hit. Regardless of the reason, I'm very glad that the writers are being highlighted. I didn't know how they came up with jokes & how they presented them (& in what order). There is a lot more thought put into a segment, like the WH Correspondence Dinner than I had ever imagined. I like the fact that Roy & Christiana brought those jokes to a club audience before the dinner to see which ones got the reaction they were looking for. Can you imagine going through a whole routine like that, without any sense of which jokes might land & which ones would just die? That's scary. And yes, some of those jokes were a kick in the pants to the people in that room; a kick they well deserved & needed to get.
I've always wondered who Michelle Wolf employed to write with her for the 2018 dinner. I still believe the W.H.C.A. tossed her aside. Considering the administration, what kind of momologue did they expect, and from a distinctly political comedian?
The joke and commentary about school shoots was quite possibly the most vital thing he said. My daughter was on campus during the MSU rampage this year. I appreciate Roy and the writers addressing that more than words can convey.
To Roy. Thank you very much for everything you said about your mom. I lost my mom in 1979 at the tender age of 43 yrs young when I was 22. I miss her every single day of my life even though I feel her presence all the time and wish I had her with me to give her a kiss and a hug everyday if possible and tell her personally how much I love her. To all of you out there who still have yours don't waste a single second of your life to remind your loved ones how much you love them bc you'll never know when is gonna be the last time you'll have a chance to do so.
Amen, Hector, and I pray for your comfort as we get closer to Mother's Day. My Mom is in Heaven, she passed away 3 years ago. I am thankful that I got to have 50 years with her before she passed. You are so right; each moment should be treasured. I wish my own children understood that.

The setup, construction and punchline to your NFT joke was brilliant. Also tying it with other hot-button acronyms (ie CRT) played really well in the overall effect of the performance. You all did a masterful job with this WHCD. Thanks very much for sharing your process and insights.
I’m happy you did the dinner, I hadn’t heard of you beforehand. You’re awesome, your history and your Mom and Dad’s story is amazing! Keep folks laughing, you’re awesome!
I thought you all wrote a brilliant routine, and Roy's delivery was right on as always. The jokes that didn't get many laughs or applause were very close to the bone; I assumed that was intentional. At some point you made every person in that room uncomfortable -- that is effective comedic advocacy, imo. I loved the bit about Roy's mother. How wonderful that she could be there! Thanks for this expose on how you prep for a gig like the WHCD. Roy was on fire. His tribute to his mother was beautiful. A well balanced monologue ….as was the President’s monologue which moved between serious and hilariously funny themes. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
