One word: dumbed down education. I saw it all unravel thru the decades. Today’s college graduate can barely read, write, and do arithmetic. I spoke to a guy with a bachelor’s degree and said something about a “torrid affair”. He had no idea what the word meant. College graduates could barely count their change during a simple cash transaction.

I have to seriously thank SHOUT factory for bring one of my all time favorite TV shows to home entertainment with the whole series, ‘The Colbys’ to DVD! Legends like Barbara Stanwyck, Charlton Heston, Ricardo Montalban and Stephanie Beacham would've been enough reason (for me) to get this series, but I must admit that my mid-80's crush on Maxwell Caulfield (Miles Colby) was also a major selling point. Loved him since "Grease 2". Wish the series had stuck around longer and that they had nixed that ridiculous Alien abduction of Fallon storyline 🤨🙄😲😧🤪🤯!

Look at the garbage in the last 20 years, with all these Real Housewives and the spin-offs. @creativewriter3887 3 роки тому +1

yeah her character was so cringe-worthy and over-the-top obsessive. I don't think they really had any idea as to the character. It's like she resumed the same sex-crazed bitter character she played in the Thorn Birds with a little "jessica fletcher'esque" antics thrown in. She could have had a little more bite.
The writers could have made it clear that she was the true matriarch behind the Colbys even though Jason was a tycoon. and ran the business. She could have been the one who maintained the house and legacy and the history, while Jason maintained the wealth/business aspect of the Californian Colby Family. That would have made her character the power behind the man. That would have provided a much more interesting backstory and reason concerning this triangulation between Sable, Constance and Jason and why Sable was seen as some gold-digging trophy wife. Instead, Constance seems to be the older but busy-body, meddling, in-the-way, sister with no true position or power and her references about the Colby House seem less like an Estate and more like a boarding home with her being a resident.

Had they approached this spin off correctly, this show might have lasted more than 2 seasons.....6 seasons in n they drop an entire clan of Colby's out of thin air....Including Jeff's mama.....Based on Jeff's background most assumed he was an orphan (Blake offered to adopt him n how the hell do you adopt someone that has a living mama?)......Jeff had some milestone moments....Marriage, birth of 1st child, kidnapping of said child, Divorce frm his baby mama and his 1st/true love, death of his baby mama n his 1st true love, death of his uncle n also a Colby.....we ain't here a peep from a mama.....if they were going to cast a mother, Fallon's death created the perfect opportunity for an introduction...(Krystle, comes to the breakfast table n tells Jeff with a perplexed look....."Jeff, there's a woman on the phone that says she's your mother."...Jeff replies, that's impossible Krystle, my mother is dead.....Later she mentions it to Blake who then gives Krystle and the viewers the back story....His mama eventually shows up at Fallon's funeral n Jeff ignors her....the remainder of the season is spent repairing their relationship (and drawing the viewer in)......Weddings always boost ratings, so it made sense for Jeff & Fallon to wed on the colby's vs Denver...However, when Miles brought Fallon home....she was not introduced as his fiance....She was his wife....The way the storyline unfolded (Jeff n miles were brothers)....They made it tacky n off-putting to have them hold a wedding in the Colby mansion....The wedding shld have been held in a church......They completely alienated viwers.
