Also Capcom is a Japanese company, the script is written by Japanese and I guess the voice actors read their parts in pieces instead of looking at the whole dialogue (just a guess). I was 8 when I first played that game and it made me almost shit my pants back then :D The moans of those zombies plus the scary music combined still makes a great atmosphere if you ask me. Never heard more scary zombie sounds. Nowadays they all just sound aggressive instead of scary. At least as far as I recognized. Love this game^^

When you are at the beginning of the death animation as the character awaits to get eaten by yawn (when the character looks up automatically at yawn when the health is very low), you can still run away form yawn, but only at the beginning of the death animation. Perhaps you already noticed. But anyway: Great channel and greetings from Germany!
Funny thing about this game. I don't remember if it was Shinji Makami or one of the other creators. But they said that they had Japanese dialogue recorded but cut it from the final game because they said it was even worse than the English voices.

Guess its different in the long box version. I unloaded so much ammo into the Super Tyrant and it wouldn't go down. 6 mag rounds and several acid rounds later the rocket launcher drop was finally triggered.
I decided to fire up this old game and play on advanced...and the locations of items..ie keys and crests are different. Also seems to be more zombies in certain areas. I managed to make no dmg all the way until the shark area..and somehow didn't get the door queue and took dmg...UGH!!

As far as I'm aware, there isn't. Barry is a companion character for Jill, and Rebecca is a companion character for Chris. Jill's scenario doesn't feature Rebecca at all, while Barry goes missing after the opening cinematic in Chris's scenario and isn't seen again. The canonical story of RE1 is a weird blend of both Jill and Chris's scenarios, as it's obviously impossible for them both to take place simultaneously like the scenarios in RE2. Either that or one of them is canon and the non-featured companion survives off screen somehow. It would've been cool if you could have saved everyone, though.
@@siliodon well,Barry survives for sure since hes in revelations 2 but I'm pretty sure Rebecca hasn't appeared in any other RE games so I think she either dies or lives and moves somewhere else canon wise.
Chris is the one who has the shotgun anyways, so it will fit. Have you checked the uncensored color cutscenes PC version, by the way? I mean, it's not something that can help a speedrun in any way, of course, besides PC version is stupid hard to make work at times, but just curious.

But that version currently freezes every time on any system for Jill during the Barry killing zombie cutscene, unless you trigger the alternate version of that cutscene by trying to exit to the hall several times. Or if you turn off all sounds for the game -_-.
CarcinogenSDA Heh. Speed was actually okay last time I tried (about a year and a half ago) if you set correct compatibility settings. But that sound issue was unfixable at least back then.
Currently, I use a RetroTINK 5x with RGB SCART output from the PS2. It's RGB video, not Composite (Yellow, one cable) or S-Video. RetroTINK 5x is a linedoubler that properly scales 240p output from older consoles up to 1080p and makes the pixels look really sharp. A lot of times, my video has been mistaken for emulator, which is amusing, but it's definitely played on an original console. If you choose to invest in this, make ABSOLUTELY SURE that whichever ones you buy are SCART and not JP-21. They have the same connector, but if you plug SCART into JP-21 or vice versa, it'll fry your Retrotink. Choose one cable type and stick with it. Component (YPbPr, 3 RCA-type cables) is good too, but the PS2's video output chip is really bad for Component. Look up RetroRGB and My Life in Gaming on UA-cam for more information. I'd say it requires research before buying.
