    I have a strong connection to this tour. I’m 16 now but I saw this production at the Pantages in LA for my 10th birthday with my grandma and I’ll never forget hearing those songs being performed in front of me as I was already a huge fan of the musical and I’ll never forget the name Chris Mann. It was a perfect day and I must experience again before I die.

    I saw the new production last night. It was absolutely stunning! Chris did such an amazing job; he is one of my favorite voices for the phantom. I still cannot get over how beautiful the whole show was. It really is an emotional experience that I will remember for a lifetime! Brava, Brava, Bravisima!

    I saw this production last year at Broward center for performing arts and I will see it again this weekend at Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami. I really admire Chris Man he has a great talent and a powerful voice he is an amazing singer and artist. This "Chris phantom" stole everybody's heart. I have seen probably 6 different versions of the phantom of the Opera ... but only with Chris Man's performance I felt an incredible empathy with the character that I had never felt before. See the production if you have the chance, you won't be disappointed.

    I'm so glad my favorite musical ever, being played by a great musician.
    I hope you have all the success in the world. And that, if my dream become reality, I watch a musical and that the Phantom is Chris.
    I'm sure you will as well, that's just the beginning of a great career.

    I think he did a great job! I have a 25th anniversary of the phantom on DVD and I've seen that millions of times! Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess are my favorite. However this phantom tour was just as good if not better.

    I just got home from the Pantages. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Christine was played by "Celia Hottenstein" today and wow she was AMAZING! I liked her better than Dale Kristien. This show was incredible.. The Phantom was better than Davis Gaines. The costumes and sets were amazing . This is one great production!

    I just saw him in POTO yesterday afternoon in Seattle. I enjoyed the show and Chris has a great voice however he lacked the 'powerhouse' voice needed for Phantom.

    Why do they insist on getting these ridiculously young actors to play the phantom? The phantom is supposed to be in his mid 40's, i.e, the same age as Madam Giry and the part requires a maturity that someone in their 20's or early 30's simply doesn't have, no matter how good an actor they are. I have lost count of the number of times I have seen that show and thought that the lead will probably be a good phantom one day when he grows up.

      @NeelTheSphynx 9 років тому +5

      The age of the actor doesn't necessarily dictate the age of the character.

    • @SpiritualInsanity01
      @SpiritualInsanity01 9 років тому +2

      furvert23
      Well that is a given as the age of the character will always remain the same regardless of the age of the actor playing it, but what relevance does that have to the actual point I was making?

    • @NeelTheSphynx
      @NeelTheSphynx 9 років тому +2

      I'm Just saying that it shouldn't matter that they keep getting younger actors to play the phantom. As long as they play it well, and Chris Mann certainly does, that should be all that matters. But I will say that they might have made the phantom younger to lessen the creep factor of a 20-30 year age gap. I don't want to sound ignorant saying that but it is a possibility that that is what the creators of this new show were thinking.

      @songthief9560 9 років тому +9

      furvert23 It is important that the actor playing the phantom conveys the sense that he is an older man, this is a plot detail and important to the psychology of the characters. He is an erudite man at the height of his artistic genius, who has traveled the world and acquired not only knowledge but suffered decades of loneliness and become cynical from witnessing the darkest human nature is capable of. His physical maturity is also what the trust Christine places in him is built on, he has manipulated her into accepting him as a father figure.
      It is possible that a younger actor can still create this illusion of an older man through the distance of the stage, the use of make-up, having a mature singing and speaking voice, or stately body language, but this is not a character detail to just be ignored. And certainly not deliberately to "lessen the creep factor of a 20-30 year age gap" their relationship is not healthy, and shouldn't be sanitized to make him more appealing.
      *Edit: Just to make sure I we're all on the same page, I am not dissing Chris Mann. He may act the role really well, I haven't even seen him yet, and I do like the comments he made in the video, and can see that he has great respect for the role and is dedicated to what he is doing. But I do agree with Spiritual Insanity that older actors will have a bigger advantage in the role,and this is who I generally prefer, not that there can't be any exceptions. They will be physically more credible and have a diversity of life experiences to offer.
      Anthony Warlow, one of my all-time favorite phantoms spoke very eloquently on this point. When he first played the phantom he was still in his 20s and the youngest in the world to do it at that point, but he felt the performance he gave in his late 40s was superior, he talks about having a family and his relationship with his daughter, surviving cancer, perfecting his musicianship and learning more about human sexuality. He said, "I think that now there’s a gravity in my performance, I am lot more confident within myself as a performer, as a person, I’ve lived a life now, and I can put all these elements into a character."

    I love the phantom of the opera but I did not like this version of the show. Also I find it misleading for people who do not understand it is different from what you see on Broadway. Don't try to change something that is perfect from the beginning.

      Yeah, they are right. Julia Udine started the tour with Cooper Grobin (think that is his last name) but I didn't know she already started on Broadway, thought that wasn't till more recent.
