You should defo do more videos like this like the best places to eat on campus, day in the life showing all the lecture places like the atrium and maybe even the libraries in a day in the life that would be suuuuuuuppppper helpful man
Emily Maines-Hollingsworth it’s much more fun to discover these places by yourself as a fresher. Make it your journey and your experience xx
thank you so much, hoping to firm manchester so this is really helpful
Emily Nell so happy to help! Good luck with everything x
Sameeee
this is so helpful ! I haven’t had chance to visit the university yet esp due to the situ at the min so this really helped me out x
liv t Thankyou x x
I've just firmed Manchester for EdPsych and this video was sooo helpful! Would love to see more videos about your life at uni x
Maddy Turner congrats and thankyou so much x x
Maddy Turner I’m currently studying EdPsyc at Manchester. Contact me if you need any guidance.
@@reejahfarooq4949 heyy, is it hard getting into Manchester? I wanna do my masters in psych here.
The girl with the olive top looks like Monse from On My Block
Loool kind of😂
THANK YOU SO MUCH - so helpful cus there is barely anything online about the accommodation - firmed Manchester:)
Glad it was helpful!
I was really focused as if I had to choose one😂 I’ve always thought that the blond girl w 2 ponytails lived there cuz her accommodation is MAAADDD like literally but I love your breakfasts ahahahah looks so tasty🤤
My offer for Law is unconditional now 🥺 I’m coming to Manchester! And I’m going to get allocated Unsworth for Medical Reasons 😌 look how i won !
Howww
The fact that I've watched this 4 times already ahah
Just coming here to defend Oak House man. EASILYYYYYY THE BEST HALLS IN MANCHESTER (followed by op tower, third is Richmond). IF YOU’RE A SOCIAL PERSON THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!! Oak house is active every single day, afters till 7am and the bestttt prees. Unsworth is dead and feels like a hotel, everyone who was cool who I knew who lived in Unsworth WISHED they went to Oak House. I miss Oakie so fucking much. In 2nd year you can get your luxuries in a house so live it rough and actually have fun in halls.
RachelMargo i oak’s just a bit ket house is that true
Big*
Oak house is a literal prison
@@debbyo8562 it does look like that lmao, did you go to that halls?? is owen's park better or is oak???? I can't decide
Emily Maines-Hollingsworth Yeah I went to student halls in Manchester just finished first year. I personally wouldn’t recommend either they both give off prison vibes tbh.
This is so helpful thank you so much!!! been searching for a video like this for a long time- so this video will definitely blow up
Emily Maines-Hollingsworth Thankyou! Happy to help x x
I've firmed Manchester starting September 2020. Would appreciate more videos like this as it was really informative, thank you! xx
Just firmed Manchester for Law, hoping to get into Unsworth🤞

this is so so helpful. Just firmed Manchester for Politics !! x
Emily Talbot Thankyou and congratulations! X x
this video was actually so helpful. I'm like a semi international student (basically I used to live in London, moved to Ghana and now I'm coming back) so this really helped! what year are you guys?

yo im kinda in the same situation did you have to pay home or international fees
@@DC-lv5hk I got to pay home x
I lived in Ashburne, I was postgrad and it’s funny to me that you say you never saw boys, I lived on the boys side, I only saw 17/18 year olds every dayyy on the way to my room hahahaha
I lived on the top floor, had my own bathroom and my room was huge! really loved it 😅 (to book that room I applied MEGA early), also loved having the cooking done, and the printer!! Yesss! Saved me so much time… and yes! My main “complain” the kitchen haha since it’s catered, they suck 😂
Quick question, when would you say is the best time to apply for accommodation that can ensure you’ll get it?
Firmed Manchester for Law 🥂 hoping to get Unsworth Park
Nathan Udeh well done hopefully me next year .
Itsjustk this made me laugh so much because I commented this EXACT thing under another video like this last year. I did get in and get my offer so I believe you can do it to. Work hard tho 👐🏽 Good luck, speak things into existence
Nathan Udeh I want unsworth park aswell how long did you apply for accommodation till you got your offer
Moya Ndiaye i got my offer 2 days after I applied and I applied for accommodation the minute it opened so I would be first (i got my offer before accommodation applications opened)
Nathan Udeh that doesn’t make a difference they said they aren’t doing first come first served
Wow this is a really good vid!! Very informative especially around this time with corona as we aren’t able to do uni visits lol. This deffo kinda influenced me to pick Manchester as one of my choices cause it seems really good, thank you :))
Thank you for this! Got an offer from manchester and this has been so useful.
This video was super helpful, just firmed for Sociology and quantitative methods x
This was actually so useful! Especially since all of the open days n shit are cancelled cos of lockdown lmaoo
This was so informative, firming today!
hope to see more suggestions on foods on campus hahah waiting for this fall entry
love this! can't wait to start uom next month and vlog my experience
your videos are helping me so much ! so thank youuu! please keep doing more videos like this! Im only just heading to year 13 after summer but me being stupid decided to do maths, physics, and art for architecture at uni and the AAA for Manchester is kinda intimidating
Chloe Patd thanks so much girl really means a lot! Just try get good predicted grades at least to get your foot in the door, good luck with your application!

This video is sooo helpful i'm also doing architecture and starting in 2020, applied to Owens park for accommodation and i am a bit nervous
This was really helpful, thank you so much!!
the fridges😳😳
gonna say this now bc no one told me: PUT ALL UR OPTIONS AS FALLOW OR U WILL NOT GET A FALLOW ACCOM. can. not. stress. this. enough.
every single person i know who put anything from victoria park or city in their 5 options did NOT get fallow. only saying this so u dont make the same mistake as me 🥲
I was there 18 years ago and the decor is exactly the same. I hope it gets replaced occasionally.
bloodflan no way😭
can you do a vid on your experience at Manchester pls?
Very good video appreciate the advice
tysm this was so helpful x i luckily got unsworth!!
omg HEY MEG
Hello! Thank you for such a useful video. I have heard mixed reviews for Hulme Hall, what are your opinions about it? Also, I really loved Ashburne Hall, but it does not have a gym. So, in terms of using Armitage, I wanted to know how expensive it would be? Do you find it expensive, in addition to the cost of the cost of living? What would you say about Ashburne vs Woolton specifically - how are they different? Does the all-female population at Ashburne affect social life? Also (sorry this has so many questions), how expensive is the bus pass? (Sorry if you mentioned it in the video and I missed it - I promise I have watched this video like 3 times). Again, thank you so much for this amazing video :)
Arshya Mittal thanks for watching! Hulme Hall I don’t know much about so can’t really say to be honest. No accommodations have gyms in fallow, there is just the armitage in the middle of campus which is like a 3 min walk. It’s free off peak in the first term. Then it’s £30 for off peak for the term (3 months) or £50 for all times for the term (3 month). Woolten hall you don’t really hear about and I don’t know anyone who lives there. For me the all female population doesn’t because like I said there are some males to begin with, but proportionally there are more females, but in addition I have lots of female and male friends who live in different accommodations
Arshya Mittal oh yeah sorry, the bus pass is 260 for the year starting in September, or you can buy termly or weekly, but it works out cheaper to buy a year one
@@chantebgittens thank you so much!!! :)
This was such a helpful video as you say its so hard finding information on Manchesters Accomodation!! im attending in september, and just wondering from you guys applying for the 5 accomodations initially did you all get one of the 5 you originally picked??
Emily Chatterton thankyou so much! And yes we did x x
@@chantebgittens thanks for replying! thats great hopefully ill get one of my five x x
This video is sooo helpful!!! Thank you x
I’ve got my holder day tomorrow and am looking so forward to it!! Do you know what the average price accommodation is if I was to be getting shared halls etc and self catered? Also are there any questions you think I might need to ask when I’m there??x
Zainab Sal Congratulations on the spot! In terms of average price I’m not too sure. Ask all the questions you need as I’m sure someone else will be thinking the same thing. Have fun later, maybe I’ll see you around x x
hoping for a vid of how uni is going in septemberrr during corona and everything....
Emily Maines-Hollingsworth ofcccc! I’ve got loads of uni videos planned for when I get back💓
Hi!! I'm an exchange student coming from the US for a semester in the spring, and I've been given an offer at Denmark Road. I know it's one of the newer/nicer halls at Manchester, but I'm slightly nervous about the social life aspect... I've heard that it can be really quiet and dead and is mostly filled with international students who like to keep to themselves. I'm a senior so I'm not necessarily looking for a traditional "freshers" experience, with partying it up in Fallowfield or anything (not really an option right now with COVID anyway), but I'd still like to make some friends for sure. I was wondering if you had any advice or thoughts on Denmark Road?
Thank you for this vid it’s so helpful, I’m hoping to firm Manchester for Law and was just wondering when you applied for your accommodation, were you able to give a preference of which of the 5 you like out of the ones you apply for, or do they literally just choose randomly any 1 of the 5 you choose? Sorry if it’s a silly question, thank you x
Thankyou and it’s not a silly question, no worries. I wasn’t able to pick preference out of the 5 even though on the website they said I could. I’m pretty sure they just randomly chose 1 x x
Chanté B Gittens Ah okay thank you for your help xx
THANK YOU!
Hey, this video was really helpful thanks. I am applying for all my accommodation in Fallowfield but i was struggling to decide between Ashburne Hall and Woolton hall for my last option. Which one would you recommend? I was slightly sceptical of Ashburne hall because you mentioned it was basically all girls
Tiffany McCabe i literally don’t know anyone who lives in Woolten hall and it isn’t really an accommodation which ppl talk about or go to. It’s kind of just there, however like a say I haven’t experienced it for myself. Ashburne has boys but you won’t really see them, but if you’re sociable you will meet a lot of girls and guys who don’t live in your accommodation x x
hey!! ik im like three years late but i'm just wondering if u have anything on dalton-ellis hall? i've seen pictures of it and the outside looks so cute but i wanna know like what the type of people is there iykwim
thank you!!!!
Hey! This was a great video really informative, thank you! Just one question, do you know if these accommodations are only for freshers? Or can second and third year students also live at Unsworth and stuff?
such a helpful video!! would u say oak house has room to put something like an air bed on the floor if u have someone visiting loll
Georgia B Thankyou so much! And I don’t think so x
You could absolutely fit a single air bed in an oak room but it could be a bit cramped
@@becisandiford3768 oh amazing, thanks! have applied for oak so fingers crossed haha
A very helpful video !
En suite vs shared what's your stake. I'm being forced to stay in catered accommodation and there's only two that are En suite if I don't get into one of those how bad will it be. Because I really value my privacy and don't like sharing.
Thank you so much
I really wanted Unsworth but they gave me Weston Hall which i didn’t even apply for :(
How early did you apply?
Matilda Kuaku from March
what did u think of weston hall
I got Richmond Park instead of Unsworth and I’m sooo disappointed omg
Molly Richmond is calmm! They have a good social life x
me too 😭😂
same omg!!
Molly how do u know what accommodation you got already??
Ellie got my offer early bc I’m coming from abroad!
Hey, thanks for the video, very helpful! I am applying for an architecture corse and was wondering how Manchester compares to UCL, Sheffield and Oxford Brookes?, How intense is the corse and in general, without being bias which ones would you recomend or criticize...?
Gleb Sharabinskii Thankyou! I cant really say as I haven’t been to the others, but I can say Manchester, ucl and Sheffield are of an higher tier so can imagine they all have an intense workload. I know UCL has a lot of applications so not as many get in
@@chantebgittens Thanks for the reply, got an interview in UCL so now its 1/4 to get in. How high is the drawing/painting skills required? Cuz I consider myself good at it, but do you need to be incredible? Also what kind of things do you usually draw except for buildings?
Thanks again, sorry for a lot of questions.
Gleb Sharabinskii never too many questions, trust me I was the same! Honestly drawing skills vary. I had to submit a portfolio which had a lot of decent paintings and drawings. In terms of what we draw, in first year they encourage us to draw instead of too much text, so diagram what you’re trying to communicate in your project. Hope that helps and good luck for your interview x x
Yo , class video . Whats the best accommodation for social life in fallow field , currently I am drawn between Oak House and Owens park. But what would you say cause the banging social life is a must for me ?? Also would you suggest a catered or self catered accomodation???
I've also applied and have a offer to study fashion marketing , lol dunno if that helps ahaha
Faded Ruin oak house is very social but a lot more drugs and alcohol I’d say. On the other hand owens Park is nice but I’ve heard the catering isn’t good. For me catering was good because I was always working cos my course is so intense, but if it’s not and you like to chose what your having self catered is fine too
Coming in 2020 and praying for unsworth
Kathryn Turley congratulations and fingers crossed x x
What the situation with Covid now? Are all lectures online? I know there was talk of doing blended learning permanently and I’m thinking of applying to Manchester next year x
I just got tree court, I’m buzzzing
Thanks for the advise, do you know whether the bus pass for fallowfield can also get you to the velodrome or do you need a different pass?
Jake Lain I just checked the buses for you and ones which go to the cycling centre are stagecoach buses, so you won’t need to get another bus pass as it’s already covered
hey just wanted to ask about the application process. how likely are you to get the accommodation that you request? and is it a first come first serve basis? loved the video xx
SA Thankyou! Yeah on the website it says that it’s not first serve basis but I’d still try to put it in ASAP. Most people do get on of the 5 they pick x x
Hi, nice video, do u know anything about chancellor's court in fallowfield cos im thinking i wanna go there but i cant really find any reviews?
I was thinking of studying at Manchester as a postgrad student (so I’ll be around 24 at that time) is that too old to live in student residences? I’m Australian and scared to live alone but I feel like it’s seeming like there’s a huge emphasis on first years sticking with first years etc and don’t wanna rub anyone the wrong way hahah
Jenny l there was quite a lot of post grads staying in ashhburne hall so I don’t think it’s too old. I don’t know about the other Fallowfield accommodations but I feel like there may be more people living in the closer campus’s
When does everyone apply for the bus pass, is it when you get there? Or before you come to Manchester
T When you get there, there will be fairs where you have the opportunity to buy it or online
Chanté B Gittens thank youuu g x
Hi! Would I be able to ask you some questions about the process of getting your accommodation as I can’t find much information online, thanks :)
Amy Fitzgerald ofc, you can dm on insta if you like x
Chanté B Gittens thankyou ! What’s ur insta xx
whats the difference between a super single room and a single room? is there a difference between the single room with basin and the single room with basin large? I'm looking at the rooms for ashburne!
Hi, does the bus from Fallowfield to the campus run 24hrs? I'm just worried when it's winter and it gets quite dark too walk if the bus would still be running?
3:51 the way she turned around before spitting. xD
Hi! Very helpful video! I'm going to MMU to take my masters (hopefully in September), I'm coming from Portugal so... Completely new life! Would it be ok if I Dm'd you to have a more detailed conversation about the accommodations? Thank you!
João Leão of course! X x
just applied for my accommodation yesterday, any tips on how to get the one you want the most or do you just have to take what you get xx
Niamh Bevan you just get the one your given, if you don’t like it however you have the chance in October to apply for somewhere else and then you’ll move in January x x
I haven’t even finished the video but is there any one with not shared bathrooms 😭😭
I just formed Manchester for architecture and I chose five choices, I just wanted to know if you got any of your 5 choices xx
Moya Ndiaye congratulations! I got all my choices but firmed Manchester x x
MU students today - oh there's no resources out there to find out where to live (despite tonnes of videos and photos on the internet.
1990s students: - I've been given a booklet with one photo and a short paragraph to choose where to live.
Kids today, eh?
I've already firmed Manchester as an international student. Are there international students at fallow field ? And am actually on a budget due to the hefty 24k annual course fee, whick accommodation would be best? Would appreciate any help🙏
Inaam Bhug there are a lot of of international students in Fallowfield. If you want catered I’d say owens Park. If not, then there’s oak house, this is the cheapest but not the nicest. Also shevyn and Richmond Park x
i’m first year and i’m planning on going to vita. i like to party but i also don’t want to live in a prison 😩😩. will i not make friends?
Ayomide Fowora you will make friends during freshers and on your course, aswell as through societies
Hi I was wondering are you all in first year? And would you recommend Fallowfield for the first year ?
Jessica Westgarth yes we are all first year and 100% recommend fallowfield x
Chanté B Gittens thank you x
Hello dear.i want to know about the situtation for applying to uni of manchester.thanke you for sharing your experience.but ,could you subtitle your saing .thanke you
What’s the social life like at Richmond? I got it and I’ve heard it’s fairly quiet which I don’t mind coz I’d like to get work done every now and then lol but I’m also a bit of a party girl so would unsworth be a better option!? Xx
did you end up staying in richmond? I'm going there but I want a bit of a chilled out accom tbh, is it worth switching to VP or is it better to be in fallow?
@@sairaalissa180 honestly if you want a bit of a quieter life I’d suggest not taking accoms in fallow, it gets a bit crazy esp during the first semester. I thought it would be a more chilled accom coz that’s what other reviews said but I ended up with all of the party ppl in my flat plus ppl in my block would always like to stand outside in big groups and talk/smoke until like 1am which wasn’t great coz the walls and windows are thin! But if you can cope with the freshers chaos plus a few noisy wed/Friday nights I reckon it’s okay to be in fallow because you’ll meet more people that you can come and go to uni with but I low-key wished I was in VP after a few months ahaha :) you’ll find mates wherever you go so it rlly depends on what you want x
@@zkchannel6748 honestly I'd prefer to be someone going to parties rather than having them come to me. Which VP accom do u recommend? I've heard ab burkhardt Hall and Canterbury court?
Did you get the accommodation you were hoping for as you have to put down 5? I added oak house to fill out as I wanted all self catered Fallowfield but I really don’t want it and I feel like there’s a high chance of getting it, what do you think?
Lily R so sorry I’ve only just seen this! Yeah ashhburne was one of my 5, it was not my preferred but I had it down. So in your case I don’t really know x x
Jesus Loves you and wants you to accept him as your Lord and saviour
Would you say to avoid oak house as a year one medical student, as i want lots of social but still need some quiet/access to a library if possible? I kind of need to put it down to fill my 5 options as i want all fallow but not catered, but could go catered if needed? Do you know if there are many medics in oak house/ fallow in general? Sorry for so many questions!
hey I know a some medics in fallow, ones in ashhburne and the other is unsworth. In terms of quiet spaces it really just depends. There are places around the Fallowfield campus to work x
This is my issue because I want all five in Fallowfield and self catered which means I’ve had to choose oak but I don’t realy want it :/
There are 2 types of medics at Manchester. The neeks and the active (social) ones. If ur neeky and gonna be moaning all the time and not willing to let loose, then go to Unsworth. If you’re trying to be a cool medic and actually make the most of 1st year then go to oak house. All of the not weird medics I know are in oak and it’s perfectly possible to live in oak house and do well, you just have to have self control x
Lily R defo go all for all in fallow. Oak house is easily the best for socials in fallow. Looks can be deceiving lmao. These guys did not sell it well but from what I can tell they’re not very seshy
@@rachelmargo7760 do you reccomend another accomodation that balances social life and studying for med
Heyy! Are these accommodations for Masters/Post grad students as well?
Or at what accommodations do Post Grad students stay at usually?
Hey! I'm a postgraduate student at UoM. There's George Kenyon Hall for postgrads only but Ashburn, Hulme, Oak House, Weston Hall, Whitworth Park and Woolton Hall are open to postgrads as well as undergrads. I live in private accommodation with Sanctuary students and it's really nice. There are lots of similar private places, you can just google for them. I'd suggest considering private or postgrad only because they're usually quieter and postgrads are hard lol
i go to college in rusholme and let me tell you lidl is where its at
Do u know how/when u apply for accommodation? Thanks for the vid xx
Scarlett MSmith should get an email, or I think you can do it through the website x x
what point the year before you came did your find out which one you were going into?
Cameron Murray something like a month/ 3 weeks before moving
Not sure if I missed it in the video, but would you recommend Sheavyn House?
Hannah L couldn’t really comment much about it because none of us live there, but I do have one friend who lives there and he seems to like it. I think it is quite socialable
Sorry, but how are people affording Manchester accommodation. Most accommodation is around £130-150 and leaves you with about £6000/ annually on rent. Maintenance is a maximum of about £8,500 for outside London (which is probably me) and which leaves about £50 a week for everything else. I'm used to living very cheaply with my single mum and brother but is that enough for a week and it so is there any advice for how much a week is an enough.
Guy Guy I know many people including myself who live off £50 a week. For me it’s okay because I was catered but I know lots of people who are self catered who manage to do so, it’s just a matter of budgeting properly. I’d also recommend working over summer to save however I know this may be difficult with what is going on x x
@@chantebgittens Thank for the reply and this video was incredibly informative - definitely a lack of such content for UoM. I had anticipated working over summer to make some money but yanno 👀👀. My placement is actually for Maths at Manchester and so I hope I will be able to maintain a job and university. I assume people at Unsworth have another financial backing because with the full maintain loan I would have £44/ week. Currently, I'm leaning to Richmond Park which would leave me with £52/ week.
Guy Guy yeah I think they have backing or have just saved a lot prior too living there. Richmond is a good choice! Good luck for uni x x
For an international student would you recommend Fallowfield or the city center? How is the social life in the city like?
What is Sheavyn house like?
hello! thank you from the video. I have a question, which are the closest accommodation to uni?
sarah city x x
also there's a lot of talk about manchester being rly unsafe for uni students , esp those new to the city , can you please answer with your opinion on this , esp being a fellow black girl , what has your experiences been in terms of safety / security ? xx
Not sure if uve already joined but campus and near halls is fine, just further out can get dodgy (like every city)
Am I the only one who thinks the girl behind the guy has a crush on him?
Thanks for the vid! I've been assigned Canterbury court, is that a disaster?
how was canterbury court? I'm thinking of swapping there from Richmond bc I wanna be able to sleep at night. Is it worth it, or is it completely dead lol
@@sairaalissa180 as I was a fresher during the covid year I think my experience is a bit unique. I would say IF your housemates are good, you can have a great time in Canterbury. you'll certainly not have issues sleeping though as parties are hard to come by.
if you don't click with your housemates it'll be a bit tougher. we didn't really know our neighbours (although this year you'll get to use Slems bar which will help).
personally, I'd rather be at Richmond going into this year. but both can work out. hope you have a good first year!
@@mrearny1039 yea honestly sounds like some people would rather swap to VP whilst others fallow, i might just go to a VP accom nearby and hope my social life doesn't suffer haha
you're not allowed mini-fridges !!???
if fallow is outside the centre how is it best for social life
