No like and no comment let me fix that
Do you have one for right above 1500?
You articulate better than other chess channels.
He does indeed. He doesn't yell or insult his subscribers like another guy I know an like for other reasons altogether.
GothamChess?
These 200 rated players must be wondering why this dude is playing so many good moves. 😅
I think that the host should play chess with similar level as 200, just win by a little bit
@@anthonyrooksacit's hard for a 2000 to thinks like a 200
We're not aware that he's playing good moves, unless we watch this video.
Lol imagine they just quit chess because of those games 😂
And wondering why he is taking so long to move
I was game number 4. I was wondering why you took some time to move, now I'm finding you were busy explaining 😅 About 2 weeks since I started actually learning more about the game instead of just moving pieces.
Definitely great insight on how someone reads the game. New sub 👊
I was actually feeling bad for all of his opponents at one time or another. He would say things like "That was a really solid move" and then two moves later he's got you against the ropes. I'm glad to see that you subscribed - Nelson is really good at talking through everything.
why did you play Bg4
@@jebbush3130 inexperiece coupled with panic I guess. Looking back I was like "I did THAT?" but yeah, I guess we learn from it 🤣
you played great
Very cool to see your opponent explain the moves he played against you. Cheers wishing you the best
I love your delivery. Been consuming a lot of chess content, and you not having a loud ego is very refreshing. Love your 25 tip style videos.
Levy doesn't have a loud ego. He has a personality.
There's nothing wrong with you liking direct information without any jokes or personality but don't call it "ego".
Being in front of the camera for hours and pretending you have no feelings or emotions isn't for everyone either. :D
Also there's tons of chess tutorials on YT where it's all theory, no play. There just not as popular I suppose
@@assaqwwqbro who even mentioned his name?😭😭
@@assaqwwq If you knew he was talking about Levi without even mentioning his name, maybe that says something. Looks like you took his comment to heart... 😅
I love Gotham channel but just stumbled across yours and I must say it is my new favourite. You explain things so well and I am learning a crazy amount from videos like this as a beginner player. Thank you very much my friend
Welcome aboard!
Gotham's to shouty too much bollocks
This guy explained it better than gotham chess
Same honestly. I watched Gotham for awhile and he really just comes off as a pretentious a$$hole. Not to mention basically every video he uploads his pure clickbait. This channel is much more chill.
@@FGC292i don't think gotham is much of an asshole as you call him, he probably just has that attitude for entertainment of the viewers (which works). however, nelson explains and teaches things WAY better than gotham does.
i've finally reached +1600 elo. Sky's the limit my friends
Please Mr BaDis Tell Me How
@@jeancena3556 My trick
1) Was discovering that once upon a time I was okay at chess and reached 1600 back then
2) Being scared to play again because I'm bad now
Hope that helped
More seriously even in the 1500s if you just try to have pieces on reasonable squares and check that you aren't immediately hanging a tactic mediocre endgame play is enough to do pretty well. The first part is easier said than done because your opponents are probably all around 2500+ puzzles and have decent tactical sight but not losing to tactics is the number 1 thing to work on.
Surya Kumar yadav 👑
@@jeancena3556 honestly man, just take your time when making a move and always ask yourself 'what's the point of this move'. After those two simple steps I went from 1300 to +1600 almost in a day
I love how you go into detail while describing your thought process. It's very helpful!
At 42:56 do you think if you took with the knight attacking the queen, instead of the bishop it could have potential created the check fork with bishop to C3 after a2 pawn takes on c3 .Even though once you take with the knight the queen can move up, just a nice curve ball I thought. What do you think? Also thanks for this content, my understanding has increased tremendously!
Its a risk losing your knight or a bishop when he finds queen d3
I don't know why youtube doesn't ever recommend great content like this one
Because clowns and loud obnoxious wannabe influencers are what get views. Cause the powers that be who dictate what we see, want us viewing things designed for the lowest common denominator, no matter what type of content it is
UA-cam’s algorithm is broken
I’ve lost track of the number of games I’ve won with the Legall’s trap shown @ 2:00, even against higher-rated players, that I’ve come up with a checklist (for white):
1) is your bishop on c4 (or b3)?
2) is your knight on f3 pinned by black’s bishop on g4?
3) is there no black knight (or black pawn on c6) guarding d5?
4) does only the black king guard the pawn on f7?
Finally:
5) is your other knight on c3?
If the answer to all these questions is, “yes”, immediately and without delay, move Nxe5!! If the answer to any question is, “no”, continue developing normally.
You made a checklist instead of just calculating the moves every game, wow.
what are you going to do when you have to think?
@@sonicwaveinfinitymiddwelle8555 ummm, I’ll make another checklist? 🙃
@@williamsquires3070 bro is gonna restudy every opening and middle game in 10 years
I don’t even play chess that much anymore but I’ve been loving these videos for ideas for tactics without having to look into other specific videos for theory, and the videos are entertaining too
This is excellent advice and a good guide to solid thinking during a game. Thank you for making it and I will definitely watch the rest of the series as you go.
This is really cool. Can't wait to see you get into the 1300 level. Thank you for these videos Nelson, and God bless.
Lol he already crossed 2000+ elo and he is a NM
@@user-nh6eh5rg1o I know that. I obviously meant on this rating climb account you goof.
@@user-nh6eh5rg1oHe means in the series
LMAO I guess the Legal Trap doesn't work when you get below the 200 rating because they don't even notice they can capture the queen.
What about the illegal trap?
Love this series! Keep up the great work!
Absolutely brilliant! Love your speedrun ! Soooo informative! ;-) Thanks
Wouldn’t it be better to take with the knight at 42:50 ? Because if pawn retakes then the bishop attacks the rook and the king at the same time
1:37 You can take the knight with the queen and woukd still get advantege with the interchange.
This series is suuuuper helpful!
Great videos mate!!
Great class! Thank you!
Have been hooked to his videos for quite sometime now esp the speed run. You are better than most chess instructors.
I just absolutely learned a new concept all together when watching this video, thank you!
You are a great teacher Nelson I enjoy the rating climb series. P.s I hope you are doing great health wise.🙏🙏❤
Excellent explanations
loving these
These are so instructive! thanks for making such great content :D
#
I really love this series! It's very instructional.
So you were first comment after 6 minutes? Damn, he's not so popular :>(
finally a speedrun from you! thanks. can't wait to see your advises/ideas for my rating range 1700+
The national master pretending like he doesn't know queens gambit theory for these 200s is hilarious
This is a good series! Up there with Danya’s in terms of quality!
Subbed for the elo climb. 👍
Wish I can like this video a 1000 more times! Best series ever!
15:05 is straight comedy 😂
I appreciate you take the time to teach instead of just seeing how fast you can get to 2000
Starting with Legal's Mate? My favorite mate! This will be a good video.
Loving the series so far! I'm not great at seeing several moves ahead quickly, but is there a reason to not take with the knight at 43:00 and pressure the queen while threatening a fork if they recapture?
Qd3 and you are gonna lose a piece anyways so taking with the bishop is actually the best move
You could just move the Knight back and cause a revealed check as the Knight is defended by the pawn.
@@TJWard-ps5ifno because white played a3 so they can take the bishop with the pawn after the knight moves.
The Légal Trap is called Seekadettenmatt in Germany it comes from the Operette "Der Seekadett" where it is portrayed with living chess pieces; I played the trap in a Tournament once. ^^
I really want to see this guy play against Anna cramling😂
Your speed run is the most realistic. These are the players i have been playing for months, stuck on around 590-650. I have finally moved past it again.
What a awesome awesome video love the cool video
200 rated player getting annoyed that you dont make a move every 3 seconds in a 10 minute game is so full of irony
That game against so dumbtk was so funny when he didn’t notice the checkmate 😂😂
15:08 Nelson remembering what level the game is. 😂 But tbh a lot of opponents (and surprisingly many moves) have been rather solid at this level so far.
In game 6 would pinning the knight to the queen with bishop g4 be a good move? Then you don’t really have to worry about the knight capturing?
"Knight on the rim is grim"
I love that! 27:41
1:00 I go nxe5 sacrificing my queen 👑 on d1 for MATE
How are you drawing arrows and highlighting squares?
at 11:46 how come castling wasnt an option mentioned in order to stop the pin on your knight and defend your pawn on E5? Is that not a good move compared to the others
I noticed that you were coughing. If you are ill, I wish you a speedy recovery
I saw that checkmate threat at 12:41
43:00 what about Nxc3 bxc3 Bxc3+ with a fork?
I've noticed with the 200-300 level players that they do make good moves, make plans, play tricks, know opening lines, but they don't play well consistently.
At 42:53 why not take with the knight first and follow up with a fork on the king and rook?
Please make a video of
What do thing due to playing bullets and blitz games
We didn't get habit of brife calculations.
Or habit of instant move without deep calculations.
Especially for tournament practice
Usually we play Rapid and classical tournaments.
I was there when you were doing mikeyzee!
16:32 audio bite scared me
At 42:56, why not take with the knight first, then when they capture with the pawn you recapture with the bishop and fork the king and rook?
at 11:58, why not castle in this moment? it frees up the knight and e5 pawn is defended by both the knight and the bishop. so we have two defender against two attacker.
2:17 Ah, the Rosen Gambit Declined.
I can't see why at 2 minutes the k cant goto d or f file, avoiding mate?
12:05 man nearly died
In the 18-19 minute mark when the enemy pushes his pawn from b7 to b5. I was thinking about the move pawn to a3 to counter the upcoming pawn to b4 from black. I'd like to hear your opinions on this move
That seems like a fine move :)
21:14 black Queen to a5 pins white knight at C2 to the King , black pawn to B4 threatens white Knight , if knight moves to avoid being taken black pawn can then move to b3 putting the white King in check and takes the white queen on the next move or queen trade ?
42:50 if knight takes would this be a fork on the king and rook?
Did u not notice that in game six where u had a double attack on the knight with a bishop and your knight if u did knight takes knight pawn takes and bishop takes there was a rook fork
42:58 What's wrong with capturing with the knight instead of the bishop? Wouldn't that win a rook due to the King-Rook fork?
and what if they dont take the knight and instead take your bishop or play another move? your knight would be kinda trapped, but it could just go back to where it was previously.
Also knight on the rim may be grim, but in a fight it doesn't need the light
The disappointment in Nelson's voice when his opponents blunder is palpable.
26:04 why not BxG4 there? You would take out the enemy bishop and create a solid attack line towards the enemy king? Am i missing something?
Maybe he didn’t want to trade the bishop for the knight
Idea for next video. How about this time every move you spin a wheel with yes, and no. If it is no, nothing happens. But if yes, you have to spin another wheel to see which piece you lose. I hope this will be in your next video!
Am I missing something? At 2:27, how is that going to be check mate? Couldn’t the Black King take the Bishop? And even if the King moves to E7and White Knight moves to D5, couldn’t Black Queen simply take Knight? Thus undoing the check? CONFUSED.
i think at 43:00 that Nc3 would have been good bc it also attaks the queen and forks the rook if they take the knight and if they take bishop you can take queen. correct me if im wrong. ;-;
do you use premoving
petition to call the triple fork a trident
@42:47, why didn't you took the knight with your knight instead? You would be threatening the queen, so if they capture your bishop, you take the queen, but if they capture your knight you fork the king and the rook while taking the pawn.
2:30 why can't the black king can't move to d7 to get out of check?
42:58 what about knight takes pawn takes bishop takes with fork 51:00 you missed queen fork e4
This is the area of were my level is so its essential viewing😊 although i am rapidly improving
At 43 minutes I would have taken the knight with the knight instead of the bishop because if they recapture with the pawn you now have the bishop to take the pawn and fork the king and rook in the corner and since whites dark squared bishop hasn't moved the queen can't re capture the bishop after you take the rook
Why not fork at 28:30 with the pawn?
new haircut much needed lol
D5 against the Vienna gambit I never see at my 700 level
Gotham chess sub will surely play d5
Does ELO rating climb against 148?
guys tell me why he didnt push the pawn on d5 at 41:33
I'm 300 because I keep running out of time. I played a few 90+ games. I thought I'd be really good. I'm 1000 in blitz but my rapid is 300. Everybody I play plays so good to me. Obviously I'm missing a bunch but still they seem rock solid to me. I'm like how the hell are these guys 300.
I've only played like 14-20 games somewhere in there. I just need to play more but I get so into it I absolutely HATE losing. But it's part of the game. Any game really.
15:07😂😂😂😂
31:05 Cool players play this Bishop b7 mate.
Does android have game like this ?
You are the jgod of chess
At 38:00 I would have taken the knight with the rook. No more mate.
13:19 what is a weak checkmate
Did he not see the fork in game 6? It was easy to see for probably a 400 or 500 elo yet he didn't see it
After Sire de Legal
How did that 148 not fall for the legal trap
43:09 Take with knight then recapture with bishop wins a rook no?
Please add Part Numbers to the title! I know this is going to be impossible to watch in a year or so once this gets long enough 😢.
im a 400 rated player who is occasionally rated 900-1000 and I can’t understand why
At 11:55, why can’t you castle and unpin the knight? That is three birds with one stone.
I’m not sure, but I think that if you castle right away, white’s bishop can take your knight which leaves the e5 pawn underdefended
