Just ordered the Prime Lite with the separate monitor stand, I asked GTOmega about a shorter cross bar for it but unfortunately they don’t sell one. Going to try find the parts to create what you done. Great review 👍
Great! If it helps, you can buy lengths of profile from various places cut to custom size - it would take a 780mm length to do what I've done without needing those weird elbow brackets I've used!
I have the GT1-Evo from SimLab. It’s probably in the same class being the little bro of P1-X. Evo has worked very well for me using Sprints/SC2 Pro. Super solid and has a very good pedal deck with offset ability for my Sprints. Can recommend.
I think Sim Lab has a lot of prestige around their name, and well earned at that. The only part of the GT1 Evo that puts me off is the wheel deck - does yours tilt if you give it any real force, or does it stay put? In any case, thanks for commenting your experiences with what you've got, I appreciate it
The real MVP of this rig are the accessories. It now has a monitor mount and can also double as an office/productivity rig with it's mouse and keyboard trays.
Everybody advises to buy a separate monitor mount, but I like the looks (and the smaller footprint) of an integrated mount better. The rig that I want to replace with this one has that, and is far less rigid than the Lite, but any monitor vibrations never bothered me, or noticed them while racing. You might lose some FFB because of it, maybe? Not really sure how much of a problem that is, for now I'm leaning towards an integrated mount. :-)
A year later but I just ordered this one. I am coming from a 9 year old GT Omega Stand (Classic) so its a much needed upgrade. Used the code too. Every little helps!
I have the Omega Classic thinking that a regular chair would help. Little did I know that the slipping and sliding would not be friendly. The chair attachment helped in a major way. It’s like a full rig at a fraction of the cost wit the DD Pro. omega has so many options. Check them out.
Ideally this would be my next upgrade for my sim rig, 5NM CSL DD will have to do on the Playseat Challenge for now but this looks like the most solid cockpit I’ll ever need
Nice clear review Danny. The pedal tray put me right off, so I went for a Sim Lab GT1 EVO. But I do have the GT Omega triple monitor stand and a GT Omega Sport chair which I will be fitting to my rig.
It's a bit of a shame, honestly - the tray on the Prime Lite is OK, it functions - but all they needed to do was use a different cutout/slot design and it would be superb!
Great video, I just wish I'd watched this before I bought my prime lite, the pedal deck is going to bite me. What would be your recommendation for how best to mount the Asetek Invicta S pedals, which im hoping to upgrade to from my current CSL LCs? Would the prime pedal deck suffice - is that what you've used?
@@dannyleeracing Honestly, I think you nailed it. Especially about the pedal plate. When I got my Prime Lite, it was like a month before they released the updated pedal plate. I didn't get the upgrade, because I thought that it was silly to pay an extra $150 to fix an error like that. I have the same Sprints as you too, so I was limited on my pedal mounting options. Not a deal breaker, just silly. (I think I'd rather just have the upgraded pedal plate included in the price of the Lite, even if it made it more expensive, just for ease of use.) But, for the price and the sizing, it's a really useful rig and allows for some adjustability by having the stand separate in my opinion. It's the rig I suggest people to when they decide to go full profile, just with those cavate that you mentioned.

Hello Danny, big fan of your videos here. I'm gonna upgrade my NLR wheel stand to this cockpit in the next few days but can't decide which seat is the best or would fit me the best? Im 175cm 75kg. Heard XL RS is most comfortable. Do you think it would be okay for someone my size or RS6 or RS9 is better choice?
GT Omega's recently released bucket seats are pretty good! I've been using an Inertia for the last month, it's very cosy and comfy. They're much more rigid and 'serious' than the RS6/RS9/XLRS and they still feature a slider rail.
i think it's strange that they didn't think of the pathetic pedal deck, i mean look at the TREQ One it's pretty much identical to the Prime Lite but it has a pedal tray which punches way above its price.
Great video mate. The pedal tray is a disaster. Why on earth have GT Omega placed the mounting cutouts from front to back rather than side to side. A couple of strips of profile bolted into the pedal tray and then the pedal manufacturers base plate is the way forward to resolve this obvious design fault.
I've just slotted the GT Omega Titan cockpit in place for the next test, and I gotta tell you, the pedal tray design is far and away better than this! I'm feeding my opinions back to them, but long story short I can mount my heusinkveld sprints to the Titan without the base plate and it's much better for adjustability. Not as rigid/strong overall as the Prime Lite but that's to be expected
I’ve just bought a Prime Lite and agree the pedal tray is a rather frustrating design. I can only mount the Fanatec CSL pedals by 2 bolts. However everything else is rock solid as well as the wheel deck.

they sell an adaptor plate to install individual pedals. Or you can just upgrade to the better pedal rack, the one that is inclusive with the big Prime
Honestly, it just doesn’t make sense, you have to buy the addition pedal adjustment kit, and that brings the difference between the prime and prime lite to just over 100 euro. I'm settling to buy the prime now without any hesitation.
I agree - just a simple switch to an alternate pedal tray cutout design would solve the problem. As it stands, the Prime is such a good deal it makes sense to go for it
Nice review mate. The prime lite is a great alternative to the prime due to price and even better now since they have the flash sale on right now. Though it does make me realise how much of a great deal I got last year on my prime at €650 with seat and new pedal tray compared to €617 with seat for the lite. How is your dog? I saw the front leg shaved so knew it was either blood drawn or drip, then saw the shaved back leg and realised she must of had a operation. I work with dogs and had a labrador so I always notice that square shaved patch on dogs , hope she's doing ok
Unfortunately I no longer have this setup in place, and to be fair everyone is built a bit different. I would say that your best reference would be your own car - try to replicate the angle and position of your daily driver, given you probably have little issue with that posture
what is the purpose of those thick mending plates installed at the bottom and top of the wheel deck risers? these parts are confusing me the most about this rig.
How would you compare the breathability of the RS9 and RS12? RS9 sounds more comfortable, but I wonder if it's less breathable, especially during the warmer seasons.
Personally I'd say they're pretty similar in terms of breathability, i.e. not great - the RS9 is way more comfy, so my rear end says, so it might be a bit hot but at least it's happy

Genuinely what are the reasons for not having the triple monitor mount on the rig itself? I'm sure it could handle it no problems, and if needed you can always order a couple pieces of Alu Profile for an incredible cheap price to act as gussets?
It'd probably handle it fine, it's just that lighter aluminium rigs may have more flex and wobble, which can mean more monitor wobble but I hardly think it'll be that bad if you use smallish monitors (24-27"). You can probably tow a caravan with a small car if you really needed to, but the carmaker won't say that.
I'd say it's well up to the job, definitely. Used a DD1 on it for a good while, as you can see in this review, which is in the same tier as the DD Extreme
thanks for the review, just one question, how far forward does the seat go when not seating in it? i need it to close to the wheel base as possible when im not using it
You get some nuts and bolts, but in general because there are loads of different combinations of bolts and sizes for all the different pedals out there, your best bet is to get a box of assorted bolts yourself, it'll always come in handy and costs very little
I just got a Prime with the RS12 seat, rig is great, fantastic really, though that seat isn't good and I wish GT Omega would let me swap it. It's hard flat and creaks. Very unsatisfied with this seat.
I wasn't too taken with it either, as you saw - looks great but not very comfy for me, though plenty of people like it. We probably have similar butts.
I've recently reviewed the Pro Sim Rig PSR3 which is more expensive, but has a better pedal tray and ergonomics in general - might be an option, however the extra cost does put it in range of the Prime which is better still
I've had a GT Omega ART, Prime and Prime Lite, as well as a Trak Racer TR80 - got a GT Omega Titan waiting for test, too. My favourite rig so far has been the Prime, but I am actually looking forward to trying the Titan as it's surprisingly solid from the build process. I'll be slotting that in over the weekend... I had a serious, SERIOUS crush on the Trak Racer TRX, but it was delayed by over a year!
@@dannyleeracing I thought about purchasing the TRX but because of space i went with an aluminum profile rig. I didnt like how the integrated monitor sits so far away, if i had the space i would of hold out for the trx and get a monitor stand.
I'd love to know how my GT Omega Prime lite is but they shipped mine with the 580mm piece of profile that the wheel deck sits on not being threaded at the ends to properly attach the bracket to the uprights. So mine is just sitting half built and their customer service to resolve the issue is taking days at a time to respond to me. At this point I'm sending it back, between my experience dealing with their customer service and the point you made about the pedal tray it's just not worth it. These things even being "budget" level cost too much to put up with these issues.
That sounds out of character for GT Omega - mistakes happen in production, sure, but their customer service has been helpful in the past for me using online chat in the UK. What region are you in?
@Danny Lee I'm in the US so I don't see an option for online chat all of my communication with them has been through e-mail. Between the issues getting it resolved and the pedal plate not allowing for adjustments in the left to right mounting I'm just going with someone else.
It's not a big distraction, but it's going to be highly subjective when it comes to seat flex - some people don't notice at all, some people can't stand it even one bit! I am just about ready for a fixed-back bucket seat now as I'm getting a few squeaks and creaks in my RS9 seat after years of use.
@@dannyleeracingdefinitely don’t need a machine shop 🤣🤣 you need a saw and blade that will cut through! Even a hacksaw works so learn some info before telling people they need so expensive machine shop
The Prime is currently on sale and it’s about $100 more than the Lite. Do you think it’s worth the extra money or should I go with the Lite? How much heavier is the Prime than the Lite?

I'm going to be getting my first profile rig(decided on the GT omega prime) in the new year and want it snug against my wall so I'm trying to search for a mount without the end bits poking out, I saw that simlabs and trakracer have a integrated mount exactly like that so I'll be going with one of those
If you use an integrated monitor mount, any wiggle or wobble can transfer to the monitor mount aswell. This isn't a problem on 'full size' profile rigs as they tend to be sturdier and support more weight - I had no issues with my full Prime using an integrated Quad monitor mount - but 'light' profile rigs like this can only really support a single monitor - or so the general consensus goes.

I've got a playseat challenge and I'm upgrading to this one I think. I was also considering the ART or Titan, but this is a buy once, set for life rig while the ART or Titan is a temporary inbetween I think. all depends on your price range though. I saw the art and that was my price range until I did lots of research and ended up with the Prime Lite haha
Go for the Titan or the Prime Lite and you'll probably never need anything else! The Titan is simpler to build and deconstruct by far, I did a review on it fairly recently
@@dannyleeracing i eventually ordered the prime lite yesterday. My final reasoning was that i love sim racing, so i wont quit any time soon. And with the prime lite's aluminum frame, i'll be able to buy and attach all current and future accessories that i might want on my rig. So the upgradeability really pulled me over the line as the titan or art doesn't give you that freedom.
It seems almost impossible to get that Fanatec CSL pedals attached to this thing without having to drill into the metal. I've been messing around with it for a few hours now. I wouldn't recommend this cockpit to anyone. I also received mine without a piece threaded for some of the screws, so that was super annoying. The help on their site is non-existent. The support can take multiple days to reply to messages. The instructions aren't great, they just give you bags of bolts. I've got it put together and it seems like a good system BUT haven't gotten the pedals installed, probably going to have to drill, but might just eat the loss and return the system. Be warned. If you've put multiple rigs together i'm sure you'l have no problems but as a noob it's been frustrating.
I can see from pictures of the Evolution that it has a bottom-bolt seat (the bolts screw into the seat from underneath) - the aluminium profiles on the Prime Lite are completely adjustable so your only problem will be finding some brackets that allow access to the bolt holes on the underside of the seat. It looks possible, just not necessarily without a bit of tinkering!

Another big problem is the height of the wheel base mount. It forces the cross bar to be pretty close to your knees.
Obviously you don’t know how to setup a rig

She'd had CCL surgery on the back leg about a week before the videos were shot! 6 weeks in now and she's doing absolutely perfect!
Could you tell me how many degrees your steering wheel base is angled up? Trying to find a good starting point to avoid wrist pain.

Would this hold the new GT DD Extreme? They say it's rated for 10nm but I feel like it should handle so much more.

It goes very far forward and folds forward (like a car seat) so it should be okay for what you need - the RS9 I have does this, at least

So mine is just sitting half built and their customer service to resolve the issue is taking days at a time to respond to me. At this point I'm sending it back, between my experience dealing with their customer service and the point you made about the pedal tray it's just not worth it. These things even being "budget" level cost too much to put up with these issues.
That sounds out of character for GT Omega - mistakes happen in production, sure, but their customer service has been helpful in the past for me using online chat in the UK. What region are you in?
@Danny Lee I'm in the US so I don't see an option for online chat all of my communication with them has been through e-mail. Between the issues getting it resolved and the pedal plate not allowing for adjustments in the left to right mounting I'm just going with someone else.

So about the Seat - You prefer the RS9 to the RS12 (dearer seat) ?
Definitely - the RS12 isn't very 'shaped' so to me it's not as comfy. Different people have different butt cheeks, but for me it was a firm no.
hey Danny, whats about the flex in the backplate of the seat? is it disturbing or can you go with it?
It's not a big distraction, but it's going to be highly subjective when it comes to seat flex - some people don't notice at all, some people can't stand it even one bit! I am just about ready for a fixed-back bucket seat now as I'm getting a few squeaks and creaks in my RS9 seat after years of use.

They can be cut down, but you DEFINITELY won't want to do it yourself - it's a job for a machine shop with a bandsaw, 100%

The Prime is currently on sale and it’s about $100 more than the Lite. Do you think it’s worth the extra money or should I go with the Lite? How much heavier is the Prime than the Lite?
I'd say the Prime's definitely worth the extra if it's just 100 dollarydoos!

It's a spare from a previous rig that just happened to fit after a bit of experimentation with brackets etc

I'm going to be getting my first profile rig(decided on the GT omega prime) in the new year and want it snug against my wall so I'm trying to search for a mount without the end bits poking out, I saw that simlabs and trakracer have a integrated mount exactly like that so I'll be going with one of those

If you use an integrated monitor mount, any wiggle or wobble can transfer to the monitor mount aswell. This isn't a problem on 'full size' profile rigs as they tend to be sturdier and support more weight - I had no issues with my full Prime using an integrated Quad monitor mount - but 'light' profile rigs like this can only really support a single monitor - or so the general consensus goes.

I find the RS12 is not as comfortable as the RS9 or RS6. For playing a long time, avoid the RS12 (in my opinion)

Yep, the prime is a better choice if you're planning to use integrated monitor mounts as it's a bit more substantial/beefy

Do you think it's worth it to go for the ART cockpit as your first rig or just go with this?
I've got a playseat challenge and I'm upgrading to this one I think. I was also considering the ART or Titan, but this is a buy once, set for life rig while the ART or Titan is a temporary inbetween I think. all depends on your price range though. I saw the art and that was my price range until I did lots of research and ended up with the Prime Lite haha
Go for the Titan or the Prime Lite and you'll probably never need anything else! The Titan is simpler to build and deconstruct by far, I did a review on it fairly recently
@@dannyleeracing i eventually ordered the prime lite yesterday. My final reasoning was that i love sim racing, so i wont quit any time soon. And with the prime lite's aluminum frame, i'll be able to buy and attach all current and future accessories that i might want on my rig.
So the upgradeability really pulled me over the line as the titan or art doesn't give you that freedom.

It seems almost impossible to get that Fanatec CSL pedals attached to this thing without having to drill into the metal. I've been messing around with it for a few hours now. I wouldn't recommend this cockpit to anyone. I also received mine without a piece threaded for some of the screws, so that was super annoying. The help on their site is non-existent. The support can take multiple days to reply to messages. The instructions aren't great, they just give you bags of bolts. I've got it put together and it seems like a good system BUT haven't gotten the pedals installed, probably going to have to drill, but might just eat the loss and return the system. Be warned. If you've put multiple rigs together i'm sure you'l have no problems but as a noob it's been frustrating.
The CSL Pedals are a bit of a weird one - are you using a 3-pedal set or 2-pedal set? And was the unthreaded piece the wheeldeck crossbar?

I can see from pictures of the Evolution that it has a bottom-bolt seat (the bolts screw into the seat from underneath) - the aluminium profiles on the Prime Lite are completely adjustable so your only problem will be finding some brackets that allow access to the bolt holes on the underside of the seat. It looks possible, just not necessarily without a bit of tinkering!

If you're thinking motion rig, definitely get the full prime, it's not actually that much more!
