What bugs me about Third Party guys is that 1) It's all G1 slavish stuff, 2) they're always going over the same gorund OVER AND OVER AND OVER again! We got tons of redundant combiners and Dinobots and, honestly, how many friggin' HUFFER do we really need?! and finally 3) they all look so goddamn complicated! Especially since the more 30-50$ price range figures seem to have dissapeared in favor of super expesive ones from 100$ and up.
Remember the glaciarbot combiner from fansproject? it was an original concept with simple transformation, but it didn't sell well, they'll keep releasing G1 inspired stuff because it sells, the main selling point is nostalgia from the 80s kids who now can spend 100$ on a toy.
Silly me for thinking 3rd party companies will finally give me things like a voyager steam shovel Longrack or a Cybertronian mech Spittor. Now it looks more likely Hasbro will be making them first.
The Glaciabot looked amazing and I would have ordered them... if I didn't have to start an account of Fansproject website just to get them. I already have enough accounts all over. If it had known a decent wider release it would probably be on my shelf right now.

Considering they're making a Masterpiece Inferno (a character whose accomplishments can be summed up with "hung out with Red Alert", "was briefly affiliated with the Wreckers", and "died in Legacy of Unicron", I think Blaster's got a good shot at the job. Hell, Blaster was in the movie.
Definitely the best review of Transistor so far; thank you for pointing out the issue with the lose shoulder joints, lose head/neck articulation, kind of a let down if KFC is not able to addressed these issues before figure is release.

I'm digging this. For such a blocky bot, the transformation was more intricate than I'd have expected, and it pays off in the his stereo mode. Just might have to pick this one up! Great review man!
Hmmm... paint looks very nice.... and seemingly the only negatives were possible weak shoulders and problems with hand transformation. Unless they mentioned any final changes to the shoulders... I might end up picking this guy up... because it exsists
Don't worry, Thew. I, too, know the pain of channeling the Ham-Hands on a toy approaching the third digit in price. Bit worse in my case, since I can't blame it on a finicky transformation.

Gonna be honest the small hands with lots of poseability have always been a problem with me too on other figures like the Mg Sinanju Stein who's fingers broke almost instantly Good luck getting replacement plates from Japan with entirely Japanese forms to fill out!

Except for Groove who will be replaced by "Protectobot Rook" and will be a legends class targetmaster little guy. Also a new Warpath is on the works... who's following the trend of revamped mini cars, but mini XD
I just want to let you (and Hasbro) know that on your recommendation I shelled out for CW Megatron and am not sorry I did! I'll also add that I got MP Smokescreen under the same premise and hope others know the value of your reviews.

Mass Effect reference? Take 200 cool points, Mr. Thew! And as awesome as Transistor looks, it still seems a bit odd that he's made by people calling themselves KFC. It just gives me a mental image of him reclining in a bucket of fried chicken - all that grease and crumbs would ruin his metallic finish.
I Loved the review. I have yet to try anything other than Hasbro's. I am on the fence with the new "megatron", and that famous "Irohide" from the other third party companies. I keep waiting for Hasbro to up their game, and release great Masterpieces. With that said, Wheeljack is amazing!
